First of all Happy Sunday to everyone. I'm requesting another prayer from you guys. My mom quit smoking 35 years ago on the spot. Threw a whole package of cigarettes away and just stopped, which I can't imagine doing, even though I am not a smoker. Uncanny that she goes for an MRI last week and they found what they term a Single Pulmonary Nodule on her lung. Basically what she's been told is it's either cancer or not. Please keep her in your prayers as she goes for an appointment with her doctor on Tuesday for a biopsy.

    Thank you everyone.

    Ellen

Best wishes out to her. I hope if it is found to be cancerous it is benign, but let's just hope it doesn't even get that far. Congratulations to her for 35 years of quitting.

I wouldn't consider myself an addict to them, but I quit cold turkey in the past. It was hard.

Thank you so very much. We actually were estranged for a long while but have recently reconciled and it's very terrifying to know that she could be facing cancer again. She has had 4 cancer surgeries - years ago - and survived. Thanks again for your prayers Chaplain.

First of all, you are most welcome. I would also like to tell you a little something about my Mom. I hope it is not too dark but...

My Mom suffered from severe depression most of my life. She was also a perscription drug (librium/valium) junkie as well as an alcoholic. She smoked incessantly. After her Mother died when I was 15 she repeated told everyone, including me, that her life was over, she had nothing to live for. Made me feel real great!

When she was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, the first words out of her mouth were, "I don't want to die!" I thank God regularly that my toungue did not spit out the words my brain formed, "Since when!?"

She died at the age of 61.

In the last six months of her life though, she reconciled with me, almost everyone else in her life, and ultimately God. Funny, she died an emotionally healthier person than she lived.

I pray fervantly that the lesion in your Mom's lung is benign or at worst, if it is malignant, that it is treatable. But whatever is coming, relish the time together and make the quality of whatever comes as good as you are able. Even in terror and great evil, God is able to work good through and in people's lives.

My prayers continue for you all.
