we edited the thread based on personal attacks.

adam related a story he believes based on his personal knowledge. he was not randomly sniping at anyone.

in addition, most of the content was rife with censored words, making the text useless without them. since we cant allow people to swear at each other like that even with a profanity filter, it made the posts necessary for deletion

we wont talk about it anymore in this thread. if anyone has further concerns, they can PM the staff

How can you say you aren't calling Adam a liar when clearly you don't take someone at their word and accuse them of slander? Can't have it both ways dude.

For the record, neither myself or anyone else had any intention of banning you, the ladies lounge master. I will further explain the decision via pm if you care to discuss.

everyone remembers a person differently. Adam obviously doesn't remember Dio fondly and that's his right just as pagan can remember dio as he pleases.

I may be gullible but I have posted on a board with Adam for about 5 years and he's done nothing to make me believe he's a liar so why shouldn't I take someone at their word if they have given me no reason not to? :wink2:

I think the point is that this is a tribute thread...then you have somebody pipe in calling the deceased a rapist.

it is a little jarring to say the least and naturally..it is going to lead to some acrimony.

Especially when it's the word of a 14 year old girl, and after I posted quotes from the hierarchy of the metal world calling him a great man.

If someone was scum, the quotes would be about his talent and nothing more, but to a man they all went out of their way to say what kind of man he was personally.

Boik, you have every right to believe what Adam says, obviously you and he are close. But I DIDN'T call him a liar. I called his friend a liar. He, however, DID call Ronnie a few choice names. You were correct, it's not randomly sniping. He aimed directly at someone he never met, based on a tale of an incident he had NO knowledge of other than heresay.

This is the last thing I'm going to say on the matter, and it is not a slap at Adam.

    Look at things logically.

Ronnie James Dio was a pillar of the rock community. He did no drugs, and has been married to his manager throughout his career, who also toured with him. He has played countless shows to millions and millions of fans. He worked with a veritable who's who of icons and legends in the rock world. He had a stellar career and a wonderful marriage to lose.

Now along comes this 14 year old girl, who somehow we're to believe was so amazingly beautiful that Dio decided to all of a sudden start taking drugs, and then risk everything he had to try and force this girl to have sex with him, when there were undoubtedly throngs of women who would GLADLY have sex with him?

After the alleged incident, this girl somehow decides NOT to alert the authorities, NOT to tell her parents about the attack, but instead a few hours later tell her friends.

Twenty plus years go by, and we hear NOTHING about this incident, and nothing else about Dio except what a wonderful person he is. No other stories of "attempted rape", no other stories of drug use.

Incredible! He altered his ENTIRE manner of living for ONE night and risked everything he had built up just to try and sleep with ONE girl!

Furthermore, Dio and former guitarist Vivian Campbell have had a long running feud. After splitting from Dio, Campbell went on to do nothing but badmouth him for YEARS. Sources close to that split believe that he was just bitter at being replaced. Now...if this incident truly happened, what better way for Campbell to get back at Dio than to expose him for the predator he was?

    Interesting...not a word.

Why doesn't someone write a letter to any of those I quoted who knew him personally and ask them about the incident? I'm sure you'll be met with a pretty hostile response.

Adam has every right to say what he wants and what he thinks, but if you think I'll sit idly by and watch him slander this man with accusations based on the tales of what was obviously a kid trying to get attention and NOT defend him, you're sadly mistaken.

"By now you've read much about him and how every person who'd had the pleasure of meeting the man use the words 'kind,' 'nice,' 'humble' and so on. I can tell you that these descriptions are truly accurate.

When you have the privilege of meeting someone like Ronnie — an idol, a legend — you almost expect a person like this to be overly confident, cocky, and they deserve to be, really. But Ronnie was the complete opposite. He really was the most humble, sincere and kind person you'd ever meet. He would always find time to stop in his tracks and say a few words to you. He was so down to earth and generous.

Through his humility he's taught us all that a man is not measured by the size of his wallet, or trophy collection, but instead by the size of his heart." ~ Joey Vera, bassist for Armored Saint.

I guess I can see saying adam should have maybe made another thread to discuss what he said. I can maybe even see people showing respect to those mourning and instead having a seperate thread. I can't see equating what adam stated to people attacking him personally if that was done, in which case I understand why the mods have left his comment in.
