That could just be like a dog playing with a stick but with the more dexterous arms that a bear has. It could be a guy in a bear suit. I'm inclined to be believe it's real as it is common in nature as seen in this documentary. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpIj6zyehOU"]YouTube- Bear Fights Man Over Fish[/ame]
It's the argument that kept us sane on deployment... who would win, a Grizzly or a Silverback. You'd be suprised how many hours were wasted on that topic At least now I have ammo for my argument to give the gorilla a knife and consider it a fair fight with a Kung Fu bear.
So in a fair fight where Japanese bears are excluded, the Gorilla wins? Thhankkk yyouuu... +1 for the good guys
I'm with Grizzly over Gorilla too in a straight up fight. If projectiles can be involved you'd have to pick the Gorilla though.
Wait if were being serious you guys are joking with the Bear winning right? I think you people are seriously underestimating the strength of a Silverback Gorilla. That thing will rip the Jaw off of the Grizzly.
I don't know.. a 1200-1500 pound Kodiak Grizzly is going to be more than a handful for a 500-600 pound Silverback.
The Bear would stand up on and roar the Gorilla will just charge and smack in the face and break its neck. It would suffer lacerations but that fight would be over quick.
It might be over quick, but it might not. I certainly don't think this is any sort of sure fire win for either (it might even vary from each match to another). I have to agree a 1200-1300lb grizzly would be an immense handful for a 500lb gorilla. I don't care how strong the gorilla is, it's not going to have an easy time with something so large. It's not like the grizzly would just sit there and not try and defend itself, it's strong as well.
I've seen both a Kodiak and gorilla up close, thanks to my connections with sanctuaries and zoos. Kodiak wins, and wins easily. Kodiaks stand over 9 ft tall, when upright. Can weigh over 1500lbs. They are bigger and stronger and are nearly as smart as a gorilla. You'd think a gorilla would have speed over the Kodiak...but you'd be wrong. To make you poop a little, consider a Kodiak can run 40 MILES AN HOUR! Their heads are near the width of a coffee table, their paws are the size of dinner plates and their claws can be over 5 inches long. Kodiak vs. Gorilla: Height: Kodiak wins Weight: Kodiak wins Strength: Kodiak wins Bite force: Gorilla wins Speed: Kodiak wins Intelligence: Gorilla wins slightly Natural Weapons: Kodiak wins (because they have claws) Armor: Kodiak wins (thicker fur, thicker hide, thicker layer of fat) It is no contest really.
I can see a gorilla beating most bears but I would put my money on the bear if it was a large grizzly or polar bear. Both are very strong and can break the back of a large mammal with a swing of their arms. Plus anyone who has ever been to Disney knows if the bear gets in trouble he can start bashing the gorilla with a banjo or moonshine jug. Now if the gorilla has a full load of barrels well I just don't know at that point.
polar bear I believe is descended from a brown bear. It shares an ancestor with grizzlies so it makes sense they would both be bad ***.
ahhhh...I just got an idea on how to get rich quick. ANIMAL championships. Get a Grizzly and a Gorrilla and put them in a cage together. Put it on PPV. I have the odds at: Grizzly -125 Gorrilla +150
I don't know, I may have to go Gorilla. I think we are underestimating their intellectual advantage. Sure, the Grizzly has claws, but would it think to throw feces into the eyes of it's opponent like the Gorilla? Those monkeys are dirty mother****ers. The kind that bring a tiny switch blade to a fight and stick you in the side during a scrum. (Looking at you, Lucky)
Gorillas are the least intelligent of the great apes. If they had the mental capacity of a chimp, orang or a bonobo, you'd have a point. Since you're not, you don't.
