Interesting, there was speculation last season that he would/could be waived after having a knee issue, not quite 30 Sanders could be one of those players whose body just gave out on them "our" the Colts have developed adequate replacements for the recent DPOY winner. He could be one of the June 1st roster cuts.
if you are suggesting we should go after him no thanks i would rather go with what we have than put money into a guy who can't stay on the field sanders is a great player when healthy but he never is.
That's sad to hear as I enjoyed watching him play. I agree that he seems like one of those guys whose body is giving out. I wouldn't be surprised if he never played another down as a starter. At most, I expect he'll be out of the league within two seasons.
If he does stay injury free though he is a difference maker for sure. He's had some bad luck, IMO. Its a tough sport.
True, in fact he never has played a full 16 game season. I wouldn't mind tossing him into the mix in Training Camp if he is healthy and he does sort of fit the mold of a Acorn.
The Colts defense with and without him was night and day...but you cant give a guy a multi year deal if he cant stay on the field. Plus he plays SS wich is Bell's position.
I think they'll give Melvin Bullitt opportunity to take the starting job in training camp. Bullitt got 12 of the 16 starts last year and they still made it to the Super Bowl. While Bullitt is a step down from Bob Sanders, he's still done a good job for them. I (have to thanks to my wife) watch a lot of Colts games and I could see them cutting ties with Sanders over Bullitt. Undersized @ 5'8, often-injured, and getting older; I would be surprised if we even gave him a passing glance, to be honest. But I could see a team like Chicago, Tampa or Cinci giving him a try. If he can even pass a physical, that is.
Replace Sanders name with Ronnie Brown's and see if you say the same thing. Our offense with and without Ronnie was night and day...
