I'm interested to hear your thoughts on potential BOS-LAL matchup. Am I overstating how huge of an advantage Boston would hold at the PG position? Is it big enough to tip the series in their favor?

Yes. I am inclined to BET that series and take Boston.

In fact,,i will go so far as to say,...that as long as Boston is the underdog and I am getting a price...I guarantee that i will bet boston.

Perkins is a great defender and will hold down and get physical with Bynum. Garnett is a good match for Gasol for the 20 minutes they would matchup each game.

Artest can't guard Pierce. In fact...Artest is the most overrated defender in the league.

if Allen can score 15 a game....Kobe can average 30 in the series and the Lakers have No shot.

The PG matchup will be so lopsided that it could be decisive.

As for the Benches...the Lakers have an advantage,,,but Big baby will stay relevant enough to keep lamar Odom from being a huge factor. But make no mistake. lamar Odom is the key to that series. If he averages 18 and 12 in that series..they win. he averages 10 and 9..they lose.

BEFORE the season..I predicted the lakers would repeat by beating the Celtics in 7.

I am ready to switch that prediction. I say Celtics in 7.

Lakers bench is an advantage? Aside from Odom, they don't really have anyone, and Odom has reached his quota for good games in a postseason (one).

The Celts really only play 8 guyys...so the 3 bench players are Tony Allen (yawn), Rashweed, and Big baby.

The Lakers roll Odom, Farmar, Brown off the bench.

it is close...but it is an edge nonetheless.

Yea but that was the first matchup between these 2 teams. Having the Celtics and Lakers go at it again would be exciting.

You can only make big changes if somebody will take Rashard's and Vince's bloated contracts.

Most likely...the only "big" changes would be dumping barnes/reddick/anderson and going in another direction on the bench.

Haha why though? They did sweep the Celtics this regular season. They took them to 7 games in 2008. For some reason the Hawks play the Celtics extremely well. They just can't beat the Magic or Cavs.

Celts are built for the playoffs. They skimmed through the reg. season. As long as they made the postseason they didnt care what their reg. season record was.

I meant more than just changes to the roster. I wouldn't be suprised if Van Gundy was fired, especially if his reputation of choking is true.

We did win 59 games and lose in 7 in the ECF..there must have been a reason we wanted him fired.

How are you going to blame Stan? They are not losing from coaching. They're losing b/c their best players arent stepping up... especially the 100mil Rashard Lewis.

When its come to things that he can control, like that play he drew up for the missed free throw, he has been good. SVG isnt the problem. Reshard scoring 5 is the problem. Nelson scoring only 9 and 4 assists is the problem. Barnes scoring 6 is the problem. Thats 3 starters in single digits.

I'm sorry... but I'm putting the blame on the players... who simply arent winning their 1v1 match ups...

Indeed, it wasn't SVG missing free throws (Vince Carter) it wasn't SVG messing up the inbounds pass without calling T/O.

This series is really proving my point in reference to "I want Winners" in the NBA you can have 55 minutes of incredible athleticism, just tall guys running around making plays, however when it comes to crunch time, when the heat is on, those athletes then have to execute..*gasp*..plays, and make shots when it counts and make free throws when they matter.

The Rudy Gay's of the NBA never have, the NBA's regular season means absolutely nada, nothing, as Sheed Wallace said:

"What I do during the regular season doesn't matter, I'll be judged by what I do in the playoffs"

Exactamundo Sheed, the regular season is a 6 month long tryout for the playoffs, nothing more.

Exactly. Stan has only led us to the EC finals the past 2 years. Obviously he is a horrible coach. Just listen to Shaq. He seems to always know who the best coaches are.

Loving this game so far. Hit the Lakers 1st qtr, 1st half, and over total. All small bets with the Lakers -6.5 being the biggest. Using some of what I won already to take the Lakers -1 second half with over 108.5.

I'm thinking this game ends the same way game 1 does.

Who is more likely to get the sweep C's or Lakers?

I'm going to say the Lakers I think the Magic at this point will win at least win 1 in Boston.

Why should Stan be to blame? He's not the one missing free throws or wide open layups or wide open shots or runners. And I still don't get why Stan was getting called out for "throwing his player under the bus"? All he said was basically that Redick didn't do what was talked about in the huddle which was to call a timeout as soon as someone got the board. I'm surprised the media was ripping Van Gundy instead of Redick. These are professional athletes and the media needs to stop treating them as if they are made of glass. Redick effed up and got called out by his coach publicly....big deal....

Coaching has alot to do with it. Making adjustments as the game goes on is something SVG isn't good at.

WTF are you talking about? How do you explain the Magic coming back in game 1 to get within 2 points near the end?

Stop listening to all these Heat fans on this board. SVG is a great coach.

What are you talking about? It's one thing to blame the coach if the loss are blowouts but the Magic lost in the 1st game by 4 points and lost by 3 points in game 2. A couple of possessions here and there, more free throws made, and the Magic could have won it. FYI, I'm a Lakers fan, so no, I don't have a bias for Stan Van Gundy.

Seriously, what are you talking about? A player doesn't have to light up the scoreboard to make an impact.

Kevin Garnett through 1st 2 games:

    vs Heat - 31 Points

    vs Cavs - 36 Points

    vs Magic - 18 Points

Although Rashard isn't scoring, at least he's slowing down KG on the defensive side of the ball.

Goes both ways. You could say Garnett is DOMINATING Rashard Lewis, because on top of completely shutting him down, he's also scoring (almost) at will on him.
When you're a player of Lewis's caliber, you can't just dominate on one side of the ball. More is expected of him, and rightfully so.

SVG cant win. If he changes his starting roster... people will say hes "panicing".

I do think he should change it though to this:

    PG - Nelson
    SG - Reddick
    SF - Carter
    PF - Gortat
    C - Howard

Its a little drastic... but it our best match up against the Celtics...

Everybody is a loser till they get on a good team. Rudy Gay is 24 years old and a damn good player.

By your logic Gerald Wallace is a loser.

and for that matter..Kevin Durant is a loser.

and hey...JJ Redick is Mr. Intelligence and Mr. Duke All-american....and he made one of the most boneheaded plays in years.

Definitely not happy with what I've seen from the Magic so far. And just like last year Rondo is getting on my last nerve. We've completely blown home court advantage, I just hope somebody lights a fire under these guy's asses to get it back.
