    Classy move:

His trademark No. 99 already taken with the Jets, Jason Taylor decided to honor one of his former Miami Dolphins teammates when he picked his new number for his new team.

Taylor will wear No. 95 this season in honor of former Dolphins defensive tackle Tim Bowens.

"Timbo was one of my all-time favorites," Taylor said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "He's the most unselfish, underrated teammate I've ever had."

Bowens, a two-time Pro Bowler who played 11 seasons with the Dolphins and retired after the 2004 season, was honored when he was told of Taylor's decision.

"Wow, that's amazing, man, coming from him," Bowens told the Sun-Sentinel. "It's an honor, man. A Hall of Fame guy like that, a former teammate. I didn't know the guys respected me like that. Wow. That's love."

Is he really wearing #95 to honor TimBo...

    oooooooooorrrr

Is he wearing #95 because #99 wasn't available?

Meh, I just don't know, there must be 1.75 million other reasons why he would take the Jets #95...

That is just awful. Dude wanted to play football and the Jets were the only takers. More power to you, Jason.

Though disappointed by JT's departure to the Jets I see the move as a classy act. He didn't have to do it, he's not pandering to anyone. He probably thought "hey 99's taken so you know what Timbo was 95 and an inspiration..."

Let's not wish him any injury though, he is and will be one of the greatest players this team has ever had. He's gone, he's at a (albeit, despised) rival but he will forever be a phin - boo him when we play the Jets then cheer when he gets to the HOF as a Dolphin.

    Nice one JT.

    Exactly.

It'd be like Alan Houston wearing #33 in Miami to honor Patrick Ewing.

Or Wade wearing #33 in NY to honor Zo.

Or Jeter wearing #13 in Boston to honor A-Rod. (wut)

Looking at their roster currently, he had three choices of a jersey number in the 90's. 94, 96, and 98 (95 is taken according to Yahoo)

Who knows if he's sincere about Bowens? Who cares?

I would never go as far to wish someone get hurt, but I'll not join you in your tribute to JT. If the dude wanted to play, he could have played with us, just not the way he wanted to. He'd have been a role player here...and guess what, that's probably what he'll be with the jests.... At any rate, he's done. About as inconsequential as ZT was at Dallas...

there is nothing awful about it....ur can feel sappy and sorry for JT for all I care, all the power to you....I dont the guy is a ego manic, who is now clearly "tributing" his number cuz 99 is taking already.....his fixation with the Miami Dolphins is pathetic....

Alright I dont wish injury upon the man....God forgive me....however I wont be upset if he did either....just like other fans who dont when our guys did...

why the hell is this on the dolphins forum? What's the next thread? JT took a dump and it looked like Zach Thomas's head so he's preserving it in a glass jar?

He's a Jet now, can we friggin move on? I don't wish him serious injury, but I do wish he has an awful performance every week and goes out on a low note. Not because he's no longer a dolphin, because he's a friggin Jet.

Sorry, but the only thing worse then what JT did is to wish him injury> that's even lower than being a Jet fan in my eyes.

We love our team so much we forget this is still their job. Even if they get paid millions, that's what the market pays. Dont' besmirch them because of it.

If your boss came in today and says, " we want you here, but you're going to go from full time to part time, and we're cutting your salary by 2/3."

If you take that in the arse like a proud man, then you can talk.

Pure speculation on your part. The FO wanted to wait until after the draft before they made him an offer IF they made him one. If we got the players we wanted, we wouldn't have made him an offer. He took the only offer out there to secure his playing this year.

Not really sure you could compare professions like that. Sports are heavily dependent on age/health. My slacker *** sits in an office all day and builds pretty windows with clicky buttons, which I could do, to the same high standard, at 35,45,55,65. On the other hand, JT could not play football to the same standard as his age increases.

Personally I think JT is lame for going to the Jets, I just can't understand why Miami Dolphin fans, (yes we're fans of the team not a single player), are defending him. Regardless of what he's done in the past he is now on a rival team. Period.

See my comments in the Ginn thread. And Tim Bowens was as beloved a Dolphin in the locker room as anybody. These are reasons why it's still here. ;)

Honestly, I think folks get way to riled up about this stuff sometimes. And too often interpret things out of context. $10 says Timbo appreciates the gesture. $10 more says he understands how the system works and why Jason is a different jersey this year.

Tim Bowens was a consistent beast and an often overlooked anchor to the defense for many years across Shula, JJ, and Wanny. Favorite Bowens memory was against the Raiders in 1997, early in the game he PLOWED Jeff George for a sack, then later recovered a fumble in the end zone for the only defensive touchdown of his career!

Because it's just a game and these people are flesh and blood human beings. This isn't Madden. The circumstances suck but the man still made a million plays as a Dolphin. People act like he nailed their wife. It makes me laugh b/c they take this stuff way to seriously. Didn't Larry Czonka voluntarily leave the Dolphins? You don't have to be happy he went to the Jets to respect him as a player.

I never really understood the whole ravenous fan attitude myself. Some people respect the guy because of what he's done, some would rather overlook what he's done for what he's doing now. I'm sorry but being of the latter group doesn't make one a better fan, in fact IMO being the latter makes one seem to miss forest for the trees and often borders on lunacy IMO.

**** that, and **** Jason Taylor.

He shouldn't sully the names of any great Dolphins' players by saying their names while he's signed to play for the ****ing Jets.

I DO hope he is lost for the season in the very first game, so the Jets are on the hook for his whole salary and he has to retire without contributing a goddamn thing to help those *******s.

This probably should be in a different thread but Jason Taylor had this to say about the Jets and Dolphins:

Jason Taylor made a career out of hurling insults at the Jets and their fans. Now that he's a Jet, he has lobbed his first grenade at the team with which he spent all but one season of his career.
Asked whether he has noticed a difference in the culture with his new team, Taylor said, "It is night and day. Everything here is a little more relaxed, I guess you can say. There is a whole different vibe in the building. The practices, walkthroughs and meetings are a little more positive and calm."

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...fference-between-dolphins-and-jets/?related=1

I don't know, I kind of think he was trying to appease the Jets and their fans.

JT had to pick a new number to wear and it was a good reason.

Bowens was happy when he heard. I'm not going to hate on it.

Dude, get real. Whatever your profession may be, if you got fired and your only other job offer was to work for your former company's biggest competitor, what would you do? Get a grip. Occam's Razor- JT loves playing football, he was shown the door by the Miami FO with a shoe imprint on his backside. He got a seven figure offer to play football, for God's sake, and he took it. Only the Jets offered him a job, that's not his fault. If I were him I'd be laughing all the way to New York, and to the bank for that matter, at all of the clowns who have a problem with that. Welcome to the real world.
