Yeah. I totally agree. About 50% of the people in the league put in 90% of the effort setting up games quickly and are eager to get going every week.

The other 50% are more casual about it and aren't in a hurry, which is fine, but the difference between the two groups causes some consternation, frustration and/or boredom as we wait. lol.

After we finish this season, I'm thinking of inviting ppl to join a "Practice league" I set up with the exact same teams as here, NOT to play there instead of here... but to recreateour same teams, to practice with them.

I'd plan on advancing *twice* a week (or as soon as games get finished if it's faster), come hell or high water, so we could get through a few seasons to see how all our rookies develop. Right now we'll never get through next season before Madden 11 comes out and that's a bummer for me. It's understandable with so many people in this though.

Sick's doing a great job, and this is the real league, as far as I'm concerned. I'd just enjoy a second place to goof around and practice with my roster, *plus advance through seasons faster* (even if it means a lot of simmed games) to see how the roster progresses.

So, while in the real ThePhins league you'd play to win and results would matter, in the "practice league" winning isn't as important as getting to play around with your roster. If I advance twice a week it will mean a LOT of player games get simmed because they're too busy. If you can;t be okay with that, or would complain about being simmed then don;t consider joining the 'practice league'. It would only be a place to experiment and see what happens with the teams we've all built.

Figure I'll wait til after our draft before opening the practice league up. We could recreate our rosters through CPU trades and my Commish add/drops.

It'd be perfect for impatient people who just wanna play more Madden in between our 'real' games. Also, it'd help all of us stop harassing Sick to advance after only a couple days!

If the idea bothers anyone, though, let me know. I don't wanna detract from ThePhins league.

Originally I was gonna limit it to 'bad-average' players so we could get better, but I don;t wanna exclude anyone. I will say that I don;t want guys who can KILL the CPU (like you AL!), to run up scores and stats in it if they join, because that actually hurts the progression of all the other teams' players and I don;t wanna have to run up scores and stats just to keep up in a practice league. That means I have to play cartoon football just to keep up and I'm not interested in that sort of league, personally. Some people enjoy it, and I have no issue with that. I'm not crazy about me having to play that way, that's all. Maybe it's cuz I can;t. lol.

    Thoughts?

    you all suck...

Really though. As people get beat out of playoff contention, I'm sure their level of urgency to get it done goes down significantly. In my case, I still had 12 games to play when i reached that state of mind.

    Just realized a couple things:

    1) I have the smallest ****ing receiving corps in the league. My four starters are 5-9, 5-11, 6-1 and 5-11. They weigh 170, 184, 198, and 185. lol.

So, if the Washington Redskins had the Smurfs, I have the Munchkins.

    2) My Munchkins are fast. Tell me if anyone else has a faster WR corps. Four starters speeds: 97, 97, 92, 94.

    3) I think I may have the biggest, fattest, O-line in Madden. My starting five, LT-LG-C-RG-RT are 6-4, 6-5, 6-5, 6-3, 6-8. Their weights? Even better: 328, 313, 325, 319, 343. You should see our catering bill.

Fun to see how my team looks, since it reflects my 'identity' on the field. My 'style' of football. Power run, with TONS of speed to burn a defense.

    What's YOUR team identity?

Ravens team idenity can be summed up in one word: Interceptions

On defense I have 5 players (Reed, Landry, Webb, Washington, Foxworth) in the top 15 in interceptions with 4 of them being in the top 10 and on offense I am #1 in throwing interceptions.

that Kerney pick was a fluke, but I should be thanking Dixon as well.

I thought once I saw Bush and Carr back in when it was 35-28 or maybe it was 35-35 that you were going to seal it up in the last minute of the game.

Browns and Colts played a Defensive slugfest....Browns win 14-0 picking off 4 passes, and creating a fumble recovery as well. The big highlight for the Browns defense was holding the Colts on 3 out of 4 4th down attempts, including the game clinching INT return for TD by 2nd round draft pick (FS) De'Adrian Virges.

Browns end regular season 14-2 (dropping 1 game to defending SB champs Carolina Panthers, and 1 game to defending AFC Champion, Superbowl entrant, and division rival Baltimore Ravens).

Cleveland's young Defense ended the Regular Season with 45 INTS and 5 fumbles recovered for a team total of 50 turnovers (+28 differential for the season as a team). Of those 50 turnovers, they returned 11 to the Endzone (9 Ints, and 2 Fumbles). 2nd round draft pick (CB) Jawan Williams led the team with 11 INTs/4 returned for TD and 1 Fumble returned for TD)
Jack English (QB), 1st round draft pick, capped a record setting rookie season in securing his 14th victory as a starter and completed his 1st campaign with 30 TDs and 20 Ints.

6-2 vs Owners, 8-0 vs CPU

Jaguars Fight to Finish Regular Season Undefeated

It looked like the Titans were guaranteed a playoff spot last week after the Chiefs fell to the Chargers. All that needed to be done was for the heavily favored Titans to take care of business at home against the Colts. While many experts thought an upset unlikely, Indianapolis thought otherwise and shocked the league with a 28-21 win over Tennessee. The week 16 loss not only gave the Chiefs new hope for the playoffs, but also placed a lot more importance on the Titans week 17 game against bitter rival Jacksonville. A win and the Titans take the sixth seed in the AFC, a loss and their playoff chances are drastically reduced. Just two weeks prior in Jacksonville the Jaguars had their way with the Titans, winning 38-7 and allowing Tennessee's offense to just 178 yards. This time the game would be in Nashville and the Titans would make sure this would not be an easy rematch.

Tennessee won the opening toss and elected to receive second half, letting Jacksonville go on offense first. After moving the chains once David Garrard threw an interception to Nick Harper on the fifth play from scrimmage, giving Tennessee the ball around midfield. With an excellent mix of passing and running the Titans were able to drive deep into Jacksonville territory when Chris Johnson scored on a 13 yard run. The first quarter would end with the Titans up 7-0.

With 5:33 left to go in the second quarter Jaguar fans held their breathe as Garrard was injured and needed help getting off the field. Interestingly enough, during the week leading up to this game third string Titan QB, and third round pick out of Florida University, Tim Tribow was traded to Jacksonville for CB Corey Graham. The coaching staff must have felt comfortable with Tribow's knowledge of the playbook as he was brought in for the injured Garrard, not the previous backup Charlie Whitehurst. With Tribow under center the Jaguars offense slowly started moving down the field when they were faced with a 4th and 3 on the Titans 47 yard line. Jacksonville opted to go for it and was able to convert thanks to a Maurice Jones-Drew run. The 15 play, 70 yard drive ended with a Visanthe Shiancoe five yard touchdown reception that tied the score up at 7-7.

The Titans went back on offense where they were faced with a 4th down of their own from Jacksonville's 48. With 1:18 seconds to go unto halftime Tennessee decided to go for it but was unable to convert. The turnover on downs didn't cost Tennessee much since thirty-two seconds later Tribow threw an interception to Michael Griffin near the fifty. With eight seconds to go rookie Dane Morrow hit Justin Gage for a 20 yard pass and quickly called timeout. With 0:01 left on the clock Rob Bironas hit the easy 25 yard field goal to give the Titans a 10-7 halftime lead.

Tennessee received to start the second half and quickly went to work on offense. First play of the second half LenDale White broke off a big 38 yard run, a Brian Williams tackle from behind the only thing stopping him from scoring a touchdown. The drive was capped off with a 27 yard touchdown pass from Morrow to Gage, making the score 17-7 with 3:33 left in the third. Jacksonville's offense took the field again, hoping to chip into the lead. After a few plays the drive was ended with Tribow's second interception, this one to LB David Thorton. The Titans offense went back out in great field position. Making their way to the Jacksonville 40 the Titans were faced with a 4th and 6. Declining to try for the long field goal Tennessee went for it and was stopped, handing the ball back over to Jacksonville with 27 seconds left in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter got under way with Tennessee leading 17-7. Being down two scores late in a game was a new experience for this Jaguars team, and their impressive win streak was now in jeopardy. It all now fell on the shoulders of rookie QB Tim Tribow who had already thrown two interceptions. After moving the ball to the Titans 37 Jacksonville found themselves with a 4th and inches. Inside Scobee's range the Jaguars coach decided to go for the first down instead, handing it off to Greg Jones who was able to keep the drive, and the thought of 16-0 alive for now. With five minutes left in the fourth, recently signed free agent Garrett Wolfe ran for a 12 yard touchdown to pull the Jaguars to within a field goal of the Titans; 14-17 now the score. Tennessee went conservative to milk the clock, handing the ball off to Chris Johnson twice and setting up a 3rd and 2. On third down LenDale White was stopped a yard behind the line of scrimmage by Daryl Smith, making it 4th and 3 from the Titans 34 yard line. Tennessee punted to Yamon Figurs who returned it 28 yards to the 50 yard line, stopped from a possible run back by the recently released Jaguar Corey Graham.

The Jaguars went on offense from the 50, down 14-17 with 2:52 remaining in the game. After three run plays Jacksonville was faced with their third 4th down of the game. This one was 4th and 3 from the Tennessee 43, just slightly out of range for a Josh Scobee field goal. Marcedes Lewis caught a short bullet from Tribow to convert the first down. After a two yard Jennings run Tribow rolled out and was nearly sacked by Jacob Ford, able to elude the pressure Tribow found Jarret Dillard for a 26 yard reception who was brought down at the eight yard line. With 14 seconds left Tribow was able to find Lewis in the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown, making it 21-17 and giving Jacksonville their first lead of the day. With nine seconds left Morrow tossed the ball to Gage for 26 yards and moved the ball to the fifty. With four seconds left the only thing left to do was to heave it to the end zone, which was batted down at the five yard line. Final score Jacksonville 21, Tennessee 17.

In just his first game for Jacksonville Tim Tribow was able to lead the Jaguars from down 10 in the fourth to their eventual win, saving Jacksonville's perfect regular season. Jaguar fans hope it's just an introduction to a successful career, time will tell. Garrard is expected to be recovered from his injury by the time the Jaguars play their first playoff game and will be the starter according to the coach, despite the excitement over the week 17 comeback. Unfortunately for the Titans the tough loss means their playoff chances are likely vanished, hats off to one heck of a team though.

Sorry for the long writeup. Been awhile since I did one and was a great game so decided to share. Besides, I know Barry will get bored during the playoffs so there's some reading material. Bob played me good, still not sure how I came away with a win. I don't think anyone knows for sure what tiebreakers EA uses so can't completely cancel him out of playoffs yet and finsincebirth still has to beat CPU, which seems easy enough but never know. I played Bob straight up so better not see your game started 17 times until you win Chiefs. :tongue2:

See Mor, that's what you get for not playing. You would have a better draft pick if you had played Barry and not the CPU. Just kidding, look forward to seeing you at the draft. :hi5:

I'm just frustrated right now. I started the season with terrible defense and then my defense got much better and could change games. Then the last few weeks it was as porous as ever. I couldn't stop anything. Then my game with the Texans was kind of bs. The game goes back and forth all game. It's tied up 21-21 and I get hit as I throw and Mario Williams picks the ball off of his shoelaces and returns it for a td. No big deal I'll drive and tie it up again and I get a good pass to get me into the red zone and my receiver fumbles and they recover. They go on to score. I use a hurry up offense, score and then force them to punt. At this point I'm down one with about 3 minutes left or so and anything bad that happened was all my boneheaded throws. I was rushing my offense and I didn't need to and I threw a stupid pick for a TD return. I drive and throw another pick later. Those last two picks were my fault but the earlier pick and the fumble were the cpu just screwing me over. Also there was a play where I had a blitz and tried to switch to the blitzer but it switched to my CB covering Andre Johnson on a deep route. I didn't realize this and pulled my CB off of Johnson as he caught a 58 yard wide open TD pass.

Also I realized I was 2-5 against human teams this year, and I sucked pretty hard core.

I'm willing to trade to improve you next season so you can prove everyone wrong. Hit me up at martinez.romeo@gmail.com. I'm out of it and it is memorial weekend so ppl are out. Cards need to win to make the playoffs. Anyway, its up to you. I'm hear to play but will be out of town until Monday starting Fri. Cards is in training for the week out of town and I believe he will not be back until Monday. I would suggest next season we put a day to complete before adv. It seems arbitrary at this point. I know ppl have lives and I understand that but hey whatever. Anyway for next season I don't mind doing 2x a week to go through seasons quicker.

not bad...maybe you are just not scheming right. Really it's all about that. I was getting shredded until I mixed it up a little bit. But then again I was throwing too many picks so that didn't help my score.

Try the nano blitz like the saints...hehe. I also noticed that players out of position even tho they maybe rated higher overall suck at the position. Try to get more speed on Def and a stout LB core to stop the run.

Well you lost two overtime games against good teams and came within a dropped fourth down pass to possibly beat me. I think all 23 users (some no longer playing) aren't that far apart, there are definitely tiers of players but like in the real NFL any team is capable of an upset. Guys like the Colts/Eagles might have two of the lower records but Eagles beat the Cowboys and had some close games, Colts beat a playoff team (Titans) and gave the Browns a tough game. I wouldn't pencil in a win over any human team.

You're a good player, just maybe need a few more pieces. That's what the draft and trades are for, maybe even just change a thing or two playing style wise. It's all a Madden game and for fun anyway, though I'm sure I'm not the only guy that's competitive. Be cool for ya to stick around, if not then I heard Josh Sneed is interested in playing for Jacksonville. heh jk I do respect ya for taking the loss, guess I didn't end Bob's playoff chances after all. If we have to play again he's going be out for blood.

A couple of your games that you lost late, I think the Jags and the game against me would have had you at 4-3

Your offense is terrifying, if you can eat the clock up a little more your going to win a lot of games.

    I hope you stick around.

Big game for the Cards I'm in favor of waiting for it if it's just Monday / Tuesday.

I'm 4-4 (I don't count the Broncos game because dispak didn't have it when I played them).

Seriously, if not for some late game miracles I would have been 0-8 in two of them I won with my last score in the 4th qtr and the other two I won in OT.

I trailed in every one of them going into the 4th
