This is a thread for predictions about the 2010 season. Who will be the MVP? Who will be Rookie of the Year? Who will have the biggest turnaround? Who will be the top fantasy football players? Who will win the Super Bowl?

Here are some of my thoughts.

    1. Ryan Mathews is the front runner for Rookie of the Year. He was a little under the radar because he played at Fresno State but if you caught a few of his games like I did you know something the average fan probably doesn't. The kid's biggest asset is his toughness. Mathews is not the next LaDainian Tomlinson but he will be great in his own way.

    2. If Mathews does not win Rookie of the Year then I have a couple dark horses. Brian Price is going to have huge impact in Tampa Bay and Jason Pierre-Paul will notch many sacks in New York.

    3. Montario Hardesty will have a great year in Cleveland behind that offensive line. If you are in a Fantasy Football league draft him early.

    4. Don't draft Adrian Peterson first. Mr. Fumbilitis will be replaced by Toby Gerhart in many goal line situations and his touchdown count is going to decrease a lot.

    5. Golden Tate is in a great situation in Seattle. Playing opposite of T.J. Houshmandzadeh will free him up to make a lot of plays and the clock is running out on Matt Hasselbeck. He will be extremely motivated this season.

    6. The Dolphins defense will be one of the best in the league. Comparisons to the No-Name Defense will be drawn.

    7. The Pats will not win the AFC East.

    8. The Saints will not repeat.

That is all I got for now. More to come later. However I am very curious to hear what you guys think. So let's hear it. Bold or otherwise put your predictions down in print.

(MCclain) Poor soul has to play in Oakland. :pity:
(CJ) He's got competition within his own stable; Believe he still has to leapfrog Davis and Lynch.

If I had the #1 overall fantasy pick, I would take Ray Rice.

I hate watching BALT because all they do is dump it to Rice and see what happens. That might change with Boldin there but probably not.

Wouldn't be a horrible decision if not for the existence of Chris Johnson.

The Miami Dolphin Ronnie Brown led wildcat will continues to impress the hell out of the of the NFL, except for the majority of their own fans.

This just in.......The running of the wildcat will not impede the success of one Chad Henne.... Numerous studies have concluded that one wildcat run play is the equivilent of one proset running play....The difference has been targeted, and exposed to the public...Henne hands the ball off in one, and does'nt in the other..

You can't argue with science ya know.

It seems like every year the focus is on the rookie running backs and what impact they'll have from a fantasy perspective. And every year a ton of people fall into the trap of overrating the rookies.

Is Toby Gerhart a reason not to draft Adrian Peterson? No.

Will some people probably overdraft guys like Jahvid Best, Ryan Mathews (who I love, btw), C.J. Spiller, Monterio Hardesty and the like? Probably.

For myself, I'm looking at the guys that are in their second years. I'm looking at guys like Knowshon Moreno, Donald Brown, Beanie Wells (especially him), LeSean McCoy and Shonn Greene. Those are the guys that are going to end up undervalued. They end up undervalued for the same reason rookie runners end up overvalued in fantasy (at least early, usually things adjust well by draft day). People assume that what they saw out of guys like that in their rookie year is what they're going to offer going forward.

Even Ricky Williams struggled in his rookie year, but in his second year he was pacing for 1600 rushing yards and 15 TDs, 10 games into the season before an untimely leg break.

Last year was all about the second year runner, and not even the second year runners that everyone was thinking (Matt Forte and Steve Slaton). Ray Rice exploded. Chris Johnson exploded. Heck, Jamaal Charles exploded with something like 1400 total yards and 8 TDs. Jonathan Stewart was big time with like 1200 yards and 11 TDs. Rashard Mendenhall broke out. Felix Jones would have broken out big time if he'd just been given the carries (had a 5.9 avg on 116 carries).

So, that's where I'd look for this year's underrated runners. How many people think Knowshon Moreno is nothing special, based on a rookie year where he only gained 947 yards at 3.8 YPC, with 7 TDs? How many people are still going to view Shady McCoy as a complementary back in Philly, and draft him super low, based on his only having 637 rushing yards in 2009? Where is Donald Brown going to get drafted? I think Beanie Wells and Shonn Greene will get most of the attention among the second year runners, and rightfully so, but you could probably hit a homerun with Shady McCoy, Donald Brown or Knowshon Moreno in the lower rounds.

Ben Tate is going to have the best year of all the rookie RBs

I'll believe the AP losing GL work when I see it. Don't think anyone would draft him over CJ, but who knows. In PPR, I'd have a hard time not taking MJD or Rice before him.

I don't see Donald Brown having a big year with Addai there. Brown is hurt IIRC and Addai still demands at least 50% of the RB work.

Wells may be the most over-hyped player going into this season. Hightower is the superior pass-catcher and already carved out his GL role last season. Beanie also needs to stay healthy to have a shot at living up to the hype.

I love Felix Jones, but his injury concerns and Dallas' clusterF at RB are a terrible fantasy scenario.

I think Best and Hardesty could easily have the best value for where they can be picked.

Matthews seems like a safer pick, but his bandwagon is already out of control and you'd prob need to take him ridiculously early.

Spiller is on another rough spot w/no talent around him, except for his competition, Fred Jackson.

Ben Tate scares the hell out of me. Kubiak loves revolving RBs and there's no way I'd gamble on him w/an early pick.

Wouldn't he need a good offensive line to do that?

That championship game loss to the Saints was on Favre but don't forget Peterson fumbled three times. When the stakes are that high you should not fumble even once let alone three times. Remember Mike Alstott in Tampa Bay? He had 10 touchdowns in 2001. That is what Gerhart will be to the Vikings.

Brown could end up being a tremendous value pick if Addai gets hurt though.

I had Wells and Jones last year. Both were frustrating. Its a new season though. Hard to know what will happen with these two. Jones seems to be the favorite now in Dallas but Barber won't go down without a fight. With Warner and Boldin gone Wells could become the new identity of that Cardinals offense. The question is whether or not he is up to the challenge.

Best and Hardesty will both face competition from underrated pros. Should be interesting.

Yep. Some bastard is going to reach for him.

    Agreed.

Agreed. Spiller would be in a much better position if the Browns had drafted him. He will struggle in Buffalo behind that offensive line. That is not to say he won't make plays. However he won't be able to have any kind of consistency.

I agree. Manning starts every season as the front runner. I don't really have a problem with it actually. You break Marino's single season touchdown record and you earn my respect for life.

Chris Johnson had a shot last year after rushing for over 2000 yards.

So who starts at free safety? Clemons or Jones?

BTW I am firmly in the "Tyrone Culver is a strong safety" camp.
