I had hoped to make it a weekend trifecta, catching up on films that I had forgotten about in April. Alas, The Losers is out of theaters here locally unless I want to drive to Kansas City, a 2 hour drive. So my trifecta is a double-header, though I may catch The Losers as I'll be in Wichita next week.

Kick-*** - I really, really enjoyed this movie (that's 2 reallys). Mark Millar remains my favorite comic-book author of modern times (Ultimate X-Men, The Ultimates, and the vastly underrated Superman: Red Son Elseworlds title are just a few of my favorites). I was concerned that we would be seeing something similar to Wanted, but Kick-*** is a faithful adaptation of the source material. It's a unique entry into a crowded summer movie season that seems to be littered with comic inspired films. 5 of 5 stars.

Iron Man 2 - A fairly derivative sequel to Iron Man, still enjoyable though it suffers from "haven't we done this before" moments. Robert Downey continues to shine as Tony Stark, and Don Cheadle does a very good job of replacing Terrence Howard as James Rhodes/War Machine. My only complaint is the lack of screen time for bad guy Mickie Rourke. 4.5 of 5 stars. More in depth thoughts here.

I recently purchased netflix for my Xbox and I am loving it. I get to watch older movies on my Xbox while I wait for the new ones to show up by mail.

Boondock Saints: Why it took me this long to see this movie I have no clue...awesome movie.

Taking of Pelham 123: Not the best Denzel and Travolta movie I have seen, but its still a good movie.

I watched Stepbrothers last night. I thought it was pretty damn funny. One of those comedies that if it had been PG-13, it would have sucked.

Good docu. PBS always makes good documentaries this one is no exception. Kind of long, but I think it kind of has to be so to get the full story out. Entertaining though through most of it. A definite must see for fans of boxing, or those who wish to see how far this country has come in terms of race.

I saw Robin Hood last night. I enjoyed it. I think this is the first time I've seen any kind of prequel to the story of Robin Hood. Russell Crowe and Kate Blanchett were very good in this one.

Alice in Wonderland...wasn't mind blowing, but was pretty good. Definitely worth a rental. Pretty trippy, I imagine a lot of stoners went to see it haha.

Besides that and Iron Man 2 it seems this summer has been slow. Toy Story 3 will be amazing of course. Can't believe I was 7 and 11 when the first two came out. It could be the most emotional animated movie ever, with the whole getting older thing attached to it!

Oh MacGruber is supposed to be wild and funny.

    Watched Book Of Eli...

Good movie by cast and crew with a great plot.

Only thing that bugged me was probably because I was too dumb to notice until my partner told me:

I had no idea Eli was blind. Not even soon after the film finished because I know you don't have to be blind to read braille and there wasn't any obvious statements even to the end.

I saw Prince of Persia. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything special. It was fairly formulaic and predictable. The actions sequences were well done. He had this parkour-type of fighting style. I'd say it was worth a summer rental as long as you don't go in with high expectations.

I agree. I've watched this too even though it had average reviews. I enjoyed it except it kinda just lulled in the middle. It starts off with a bang then there's this long drawn out middle bit then it finishes with a bang. Overall a good action flick.

"Abominable" on the sci fi channel. It was too god awful in a good way to turn it off.
favorite scene- when the bigfoot creature cuts the power to the house right after the main character says "hey! We're smarter than this thing."

    The Perfect Sleep.

Highly-stylized, told almost entirely in first-person narrative, not to mention the least-engaging lead actor EVER. I got about an hour in hoping it would get better but it never did.

    I wouldn't recommend it.

That movie kicked a%$ on so many levels. The social commentary, the quasi documentary style, the killer alien weaponry and the acting...I hope they come out with the sequel.

Favorite scene-when the dude who is turning into an alien is nearly defeated in that Gundam techno(?) suit and lunges to catch that RPG.

Best, most original, highly watchable movie of the year...
