How about some actual analysis........oh wait....you can't. Keep ducking and dodging, ducking and dodging...it's what you do.

Ask any player, coach, sports writer...Jake Long is always in the top 5 lists of best LT's. Usually ranked in the top 3.

Why do we even bother with this misfit ? He is just like your teeth, ignore him and he will go away. Pitiful, simply pitiful some pimple faced kid gets on a message board and people actually attempt to answer him. Reading his posts its evident he makes no sense, has no ability to make any sense and most likely his own teams message board members ignore him too. So, he comes here. Gotta love it.

Actually 3-5 don't even belong on that list as they are either right Tackles or have swapped back and forth.

Again with the same unsupported flawed logic. It's pathetic really. Jake has everything on his side except he doesn't pass your 'eye test'. Who the **** cares. He's one of the 2 or 3 best LT's in the game. Not just because I say so but because eveyone of relevance as well as all the measurable stat say's so.

So far everything you have said on this forum been been nothing more than conjecture and opinion. No facts whats so ever to support any of your theory's. So in essence all you have done is come over and try and insult us. You're certainty not here to talk football because if you were you would have at the very least conceded one point by now.

PS17 is a die hard Jets fan. I hate him for it as I'm sure he hates me. Yet when he comes here he maintains an open mind and talks football. We don't always agree though but that's ok. Even on this issue he somewhat conceded that Jake is better than Ferguson.

I would imagine that killed him to write because no two teams hate each other more than the fins and Jets. The bills? you guys are nothing more than an afterthought. One would have to go back a very long time to remember when the Bills were relevant in the AFC East.

With all that said we (I) still have tried to talk football with you but all you have done is say this Dolphin sucks because of this, or this coach sucks because of that. You bring nothing to the table ar far as facts go and when facts have been brought to your attention to show you that you are mistaken all you have done is move the target and change your stance and if all else fails you simply go back to "he sucks because I said so".

That's not discussing football. That's just a piss poor attempt to insult people who have up until recently tried to treat you with respect. We haven't gone to your board and insulted you you came here and insulted us.

I have been a member of Two bills drive since Oct of last year (same User name). My first post believe it or not was to wish the Bills luck and an injury free game. I have not insulted anyone there the way you have here.

You came to the wrong site for this bud. All we do is talk and think football here. We know the weaknesses of our team and we know the weaknesses of the other teams in our division. We openly discuss these topics amongst ourselves as well as fans from other teams.

It's posters like you that make me want to give a couple of our Jet posters a hug and a thank you. You know crap about football and are just wasting our time.

I'm not a Mod here but if I was I would have a sit down with you. I wouldn't ban you just yet but I would explain what we do or do not expect from our posters.

I did the same thing when I did my table. I eliminated all RT's as well as those that split time at right tackle as it's a much easier position to play.

There are a few surprises on your list, to me at least. I respect your opinion, I just don't necessarily agree with it. Your list was the following.

    "
    Joe Thomas
    Michael Roos
    Jordan Gross
    Ryan Clady
    Jammal Brown
    Jared Gaither
    Sam Baker
    Jake Long
    D'Brick Ferguson
    Sebastian Vollmer"

I don't agree with some of them but there were a couple that stood out to me that I questioned why you have them so high. Why Jared Gaither so high? He's talented, no doubt, but he is inconsistent, in my opinion. His footwork can get sloppy. I don't see him working hard as Jake Long on a snap to snap basis. Again, this is just my opinion. Also, why Sam Baker? Baker is a short armed left tackle that is protected by the scheme in Atlanta, IMO. I don't see him on the level of Jake Long because I don't think he's consistent as Jake. Last, why Vollmer so high after only one year? He has talent, I won't argue that, but top ten LT? I don't see it yet.

Also, I know you didn't direct the homer comment to me in specific but isn't it rather rude to clump all of us together when some of us are not homers? I don't view myself as a homer.

    Just my two cents though.

Left tackles tend to go up against the leagues best pass rushers the majority of the time. Right tackles will face the same players off and on but for the most part these pass rushers tend to stay on the Quarterbacks blind side.

Right to an extent. However, what's recently changed is the strong side pass rushers that have been coming out have been a lot more explosive than in years past from what I've noticed. I also think that there are a lot of quality, explosive pass rushers that are disruptive and play on the strong side. Robert Mathis, LaMarr Woodley, Brian Orakpo and Justin Tuck are some of the guys on the strong side. Those guys have been quality the last few years (Orakpo last year) and a couple years back, I think anyone could have argued that Justin Tuck was the premier pass rusher in the NFL because he's such a complete player. Last year he was dinged up but he did well too.

Further, another reason I don't think right tackle is much easier to play than left tackle is assignments given because of the blocking scheme. Going back to what I was saying about the assignments in a WCO and a man blocking scheme, the right tackle has more responsibility and pressure on him than the left tackle because he does not have help from the inside blocker.

In conclusion, I do think its a bit easier on them but not much easier because of the pass rushers that been coming into the league and playing at a high level on the strong side.

Good answer bro but I still don't fully agree with your assessment. Your one of the resident 'Draft Guru's' and as such can you tell me when was the last time a right tackle were valued as much as Left tackles? Now i'm not talking individual cases like in round 3 this right tackle was better than this left tackle. I'm talking overall value.

Also when evaluating Left tackles you will often here statements like "they can always start him on the right side and groom him for the left". or "he has left tackle feet". consequently you never here them evaluate a tackle and say "he has right tackle feet". Unless its to say he can't play the left side. Sometimes you may here them compliment a right tackle and say "he has left tackle feet". Left tackle is always the the measuring stone that all tackles are measured.

Also when teams are building they always evaluate the QB position and the quality of the Left tackle. I have yet to hear anyone say that they have a good QB and a good right tackle. Left tackles have always been the cornerstone of the Oline.

This doesn't mean that after the Left tackle all other O-line positions are irrelevant. All the experts place a much higher priority on the left side of the line. It's what protects your QB's blind side.

Don't read into the Draft Guru label. It's a photoshop image under my user name. I'm the same football fan as you are.

Moving forward, when did value come into play? We were talking about the difficult of the job of the two bookends. I won't argue with you that the LT is more valued than the RT because I fully agree with you.

I agree. They do say he doesn't have right tackle feet but in a different way. They are viewed as RTO's (Right Tackle Only's).

I agree with all of this. I'm just slightly confused by your response because we were discussing the difficult of the job, not the value of the two positions, unless I was off-topic. If I was off-topic, forgive me.

First off bro you have always been nothing but respectful so no need to be forgiven at all.

My point is or the point I'm trying to make in its simplest form is this. All left tackles would be able to play right tackle but all right tackles wouldn't be able to play left tackle.

If that statement is even partially true which I believe it to be then Left Tackle is indeed the harder position to play.

Thank you. It's mutual. I always enjoy talking football with you.

    I agree.

Maybe I worded my initial response poorly, if so I apologize. That's not what I was attempting to debate. The reason for my post was to state that the right tackle position is not "much easier" (to use your words) to play. In the conclusion of my response to your post, this is what I wrote.

    :)

Half of Jake's sacks came in the opener last year against the Falcons, where he clearly struggled with John Abraham. He flipped a switch after that game and was rock solid. Really, it's the only game I've seen him struggle with in 2 years of playing.

Don't underestimate the importance of a RT to the running game either. More often than not, teams will prefer to go to that side. RT is one of the underrated line positions IMO.

    Come on man.

If you're going to call out Long, a player you had to know many on this board would feel quite strongly about, then at least have something to back up your opinion other than "he just doesn't look like a LT."

Hell, a lot of us, even some of our draft gurus, said that before he was drafted. There were raging debates about whether he could play LT. And then he went to the Pro Bowl. And then he went to the Pro Bowl again. To me, Jake Long has silenced all the doubters.

Other than you. I'm not sure what you're looking for in a LT, because I'm quite happy with what #77 brings to the table.

You can always contact Suggs if you don't share his opinion about Long being one of the best tackles in the league. I'm sure he will agree with such a knowledgeable FAN.

Do yourself a favor, go ahead and check stats/videos/whatever you want of Long vs pass rushers outside the AFC East.

The fact that you have Jordan Gross, Ryan Clady, Jammal Brown, Jared Gaither, Sam Baker ahead of Long, and even having Sebastian Vollmer in your top 10 says it all about your level of knowledge on the subject.

There really is no point in responding to the troll. Any outside opinion is going to be dismissed as not coming from the troll, and you will be insulted as not being smart enough watch a game and understand what is happening. If you provide your own analysis, it will be dismissed as not coming from the troll, and you will be insulted as a homer. No point in feeding the troll, but I have changed my mind about letting the thread die.

This is great news IMO. I cannot wait see what a bigger more athletic Long does. He was already dominant. He has improved steadily since his first game. And he was playing on a bad ankle at the end of the year. If we get the interior line figured out we could be looking at a top 5 O-line across the board. I think we surprise some people this year.
