Problem with him is you need 2 players, Odin, and the guy who will fill in for him.

We have that too with Joel Anthony. lol

I am intrigued to say the least. This sounds like a Riley reclamation project.

and if he breaks down again...his contract is friendly and goes off the books very soon.

sounds like a win win...like a free lottery ticket.

Caron Butler in a matter of fact way (On first and ten) just said: "Amare is going to be in Miami with Dwyane."

Does he know something? He is friends with Dwyane and talks to him all the time.

Is the cat out of the bag?

If Butler is revealing inside info, then he's also implying that LeBron has decided against coming to Miami.

If true, then I say it is a good move AND makes going after Oden (if true), an absolute no brainer. Stick that body in the middle until his knee remember that he is actually 45 again and fails on him. Then, you still have Amar'e to patrol the middle. Win-win imo.

I don't see anything of value in that article, especially if we're going to take Caron Butler at his word. If Amare is supposedly a lock, there's no money for LeBron. That means LeBron is either going to take the junior max (yeah, right) or he's already ruled out Miami. Alternatively, it means Amare has agreed to take the junior max, and I don't see that happening either.

Well, I have no idea whether or not Caron knows anything, his friendship with Wade notwithstanding.

However, there would be room if we trade Beasley/cook, etc. With HD's cryptic post of a few days ago suggesting that very fact, I'm not ruling anything out.

In the article LeBron talks specifically about playing with Wade or Bosh and that there are certainc oaches he would love to play for. That's got to be a reference to either Riley or Cal, unless he wants whatever team he's on to make a run at Phil.

I'm just pointing out that one means we can't get the other. If Amare is a lock, then there's no LeBron. If LeBron is willing to sign, then the only way Amare comes in is if he's willing to take the junior max. If Section is right about Caron, then the LeBron scenario is moot.

It's very likely a Riley reference. The problem is, we don't know what sort of priority LeBron places on having a particular coach. It's tough for me to derive any sort of implication from a generic statement like that.

I agree with you, but we might have a Beasley/Cook trade worked out for draft night, which would open up the two max slots.

LeBron gave very generic, noncommital answers which was all he could do, but he did specifically mention Wade, seemingly unprompted. And the coach thing has to be referring to Riley/Phil/Cal. He wouldn't care about anybody else. Maybe Coach K.

One thing that is not being mentioned is this....

Maybe Wade will sign a 3 year opt out contract...which would save the Heat some money under the cap with the promise that in 3 years..he gets to reup for much more than a longterm MAX deal signed today will give him.

Maybe that is what the "Summit" is about.

I have no doubts about THESE things: (write them down, take notes, these are facts)

. Wade wants Amare over Bosh, but he wants one or the other.

. Riley wants Bosh but will let Wade push the decision one way or the other.

. If The Heat Go the "Big Three" route with two MAX's and a Junior Max (Rudy Gay, Joe Johnson), then say your goodbyes to Udonis Haslem, unless he is going to take a ridiculous amount less to stay.

. You want to keep Udonis, Beasley must go along with ALL the cap charges and even then he will have to take a pay cut.

. You want Haslem, Dorrell Wright at current levels...then your Big Three piece must be John Salmons.

. Rudy Gay is attractive because his MAX number is 13 mil and the Grizz are not sure to match.

. Joe Johnson is a not attractive at all because his MAX cap number is 18.5 Mil and he will have suitors.

. Riley will sign Raja Bell.

. Riley will trade Beasley if he gets pushed in a S&T.

Not sure I understand the logic of taking the shorter deals when the players have no idea of what the salary landscape is going to look like in 3 years when a new CBA will be in place with the owners so far vowing to reign in the length and amount of the contracts.

    LOL!

The Phoenix Suns have leaked AGAIN that they are resuming "negotiations" with Amare.

    That is just too funny.

    What negotiations?

It is either a MAX deal or he will opt out. because he sure as **** will get a MAX deal elsewhere.

I think PHX is just looking for cover when amare eventually leaves. They can say "hey we tried but just couldn't go the max given his injury history"

I don't think they really have any intention of resigning him with any kind of raise or length on the deal.

it is the longest negotiated max deal in NBA history.

    it must go like this...

Suns: Hey..nice playoffs Amare...ready to get your deal done?

    Amare: Cool

Suns: Okay...this time we only want you to take 3 million less a year than a Max deal? Deal?

    Amare: not this **** again.....

Don't be too sure on Miami only being able to afford Wade + one max. Wait until after the draft to make that assumption. I'm still leaning towards the idea that Beasley will be packaged with James Jones and perhaps our first round pick for absolutely nothing, and that would sure up cap space for Wade + Max + Max.

I do love the Greg Oden idea, though, assuming Bosh or Amare is our guy... we'd still have $8-10 million left to fill out. Talk about the perfect center to pair with all of the concerns regarding Bosh or Amare on the defensive end.

If LeBron is our guy then I'd go elsewhere... I'd be willing to package Beasley/Jones/Cook/#18 for absolutely nothing, to sure up enough cap space to add a post presence like Amare, Bosh, or even Boozer.

I highly doubt Caron Butler has any insight on what's going on in Miami although he's still friends with Wade. However, from everything I've heard... Amare & Boozer are both LOCKS for Miami. It's just a matter of what happens with LeBron & Bosh first, and whether or not Riley is able to free up enough space to sign two guys if he wants.

If I was a betting man, though, I'd bet on Amare ending up as the main "prize" for Miami this offseason.

Whether or not that comes with a wonderful stocking stuffer or two, we'll see.

Still wouldn't discount LeBron or Bosh though. LeBron will at least consider it.

We need to keep Beasley around till July 1st in case of a S&T.

I would not go into the July 1-8 commitment period without chips to trade.

Also...if you want Haslem..you better carve out 5 mil. That eats into the third MAX if we ship all our cap charges.

Remember that we need 8 competent guys for the rotation. 9 to play out a season. 12 for a roster. So you can really only have 3 developmental guys at the very least (Beverly, Draft Pick, Draft Pick)

We are definately not going to carry 15 guys. Probably the minimum 13.

The bottom of the roster will absolutely look like this:

    Beverly
    Draft Pick
    Draft Pick

we also cannot use our 1st round pick...we have to ship it.

I'm guessing Wade, Amare and Boozer is most likely.

If it's the case I'm also guessing it's Lebron and Bosh to NYK.

    LOL!!!

The Commish David Stern is doing his pre-finals press conference...

and he was asked about the "Summit".

David Stern responded: "I don't think they will have one, what are they going to do? Sit around and admire D-Wade's ring?"

Ferry stepping down means one of two things:

    A) He knows LeBron is leaving and doesn't want to go through with another rebuilding stretch.
    B) LeBron influenced move.

LeBron will stay, IMO, which is great for Miami if he doesn't land here. Cleveland doesn't have the cap space or trade chips necessary to acquire Bosh, whom I think is the only threat to follow LeBron where ever he goes, as long as that team has what it takes to sign him or acquire him via sign-and-trade.

It's simple to me: If LeBron goes to New York or Chicago, he takes Bosh with him and Miami moves onto Amare. If LeBron stays in Cleveland, then it's up to Miami whether they want Bosh or Amare. Bosh will be fishing for a sign-and-trade to cash in deeper, though... although that actually would help Miami if Toronto would take Beasley + Jones + Cook and/or picks. Would free up more cap space to add a Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay.

My head hurts after typing that. And it will continue to hurt over the next month... Dear World Cup, please save us! Be competitive. Super competitive. Ultra competitive!

Ferry stepping down was because our owner is looking to add a big-name coach that would want some say in personnel decisions. Ferry wouldn't give up any power so he stepped down.

Rumors is that we are in trade talks to land a player and/or lottery pick. Supposedly with one of the "California" teams.

So if Pat Riley and LeBron James have a sit down and Riley tells him that he'd be willing to come down and coach, is LeBron going to turn that opportunity down to play for Tom Thibodeau or Mike D'Antoni? LOL. He'd be a real idiot.

Ah, I love how things are going. Cleveland is completely blowing up their organization inside and out, Chicago is getting bad pub since the Dwyane Wade thing and just hired Tom Thibodeau to coach the team in 2010, and New York is... well, New York. Need I say more? They will lose with or without LeBron. Why would LeBron want to play for that underachieving loser (D'Antoni), when he's becoming known as an underachieving loser himself?

I think Tom Thibodeau will be a solid coach as he's been a huge part of Boston's success, but it's the name... the name doesn't ring enough bells. These players will be pursued by PAT RILEY.

I guess we can kiss that "package deal" of LBJ/Callipari or LBJ/Phil Jackson goodbye. Sorry, Bulls fans.

Interesting group the Heat sent to Haiti on a humanitarian trip....

    Erik Spoelstra.....Alonzo Mourning.....and......RUDY GAY. LOL.

Can it be any more obvious?

Now...if you crunch the numbers..you come to the conclusion that the heat will have to trade away Beasley along with not using the 1st round pick to be able to complete a signing of Gay or Johnson to go with the MAX and Wade...that is of course..allowing for bringing back Udonis and Dorrell.
