[Merged] Dolphins owner Stephen Ross predicts a Super Bowl

I've been saying that every year for as long as I can remember.

 

I think this team has as much potential now as any other team in the NFL. I am happy Ross is dueling with Rex the Mouth that has the ol stomach with a baggy tie on it now. The players are not naive, they see what they have going for them. If ya have it, flaunt it baby and we have it.

 

How arrogant. Sounds like a blowhard buffoon.

Oh wait, this isn't Rex Ryan, carry on...

 

We're not Jet fans. Some of us don't appreciate arrogance. When an owner does that, no matter how optimistic it comes off that way. Ugh.

It's not like he's coming out and telling the NFL to be on notice! He mearly shows his expectations....

 

Little different when it comes from the mouth of a billionaire who is on the cusp of leasing NYC hottest property as opposed to a fat guy that cannot control what he eats and due to no self discipline, needs a friggin rubber band tied around his stomach. I actually enjoy Rex Ryan, he will make the as usual, inevitable implosion of the team up there, very comical indeed. I suspect no less then a Times Square type of flogging for him and Sanchez when it all falls apart. You guys have really been good comedy thru the years. I have confidence you will not let us down.

What do I think?
I think it's the kiss of death...What an imbecile. Hubris in the offseason, after a 7-9 season. This might be even stupider than Chris Chambers Super Bowl prediction (man I hope this stays off the grid).

Yep. Mr. Ross just sort of anointed Chad Henne the heir apparent and eventual better of Dan Marino. I'm thankful this isn't a coach doing this, like Josh McDaniels calling Tebow the next Tom Brady. I thought the Jest, only mild offense to the fans on this board, had the big mouths.

 

It was more like wishful thinking. I would think, as a Dolphins fan, that we would all hope that Henne can become better than Marino. Not saying that it's gonna happen, but think about it. What if Henne had a better season in 2010 than Marino did in 84. Drool.

 

The more I hear and see of Ross, the more I wish (as much a failure H was in winning a title) Huizenga was still the owner. He was very much the "not be seen or heard from" owner, who minded his own P's & Q's. This Ross guy has more of a Daniel Snyder mentality. This guys mouth and way of doing business may mean Parcells is gone sooner rather than later.

I am sure since you just posted that, all the NY fans on the board are spewing meaningless posts on their boards about comments made by a very wealthy man. I do not even delve into lowering myself going to other teams boards but I am sure there are some that will. I could care less what the least liked team in the NY NJ areas fans think about the comment.

 

you may be right in some cases but this is not one of them.

Publicly saying you hope your starting QB becomes the best QB in franchise history can be nothing but good. Why whould he want anything less from Henne?


Whats the alternative? "Hennes good and all, but he'll never be Dan Marino" While that is likely true, i would be pissed if anyone but a fan said it.

 

I do like the wishful thinking...but we shouldn't stoop to the Jets level.

I mean yes we do have a better quarterback, and yes we did sweep them last year, and yes we will win another Supebowl before them but we shouldn't be arrogant.

 

I think what he is saying, as the owner, is that he should just shut up and pay the players, nothing else.

 

Way to put a bullseye on our backs in the slowest news part of the season. Now we're the bad guys. So many expletives come to mind when thinking about such an unthoughtful remark...(sigh)

 

Ross saying this doesn't compare him to Snyder at all. I don't find anything wrong with what Ross said. Look at who he told this to anyway, why is this even a story?

 

I have no problem with an owner who is willing to opening up his wallet to bring in the best players as well as hire the best F.O. people. Who also stands back and allows the football people completely run their side of the operations w/o trying to micro manage standing up and saying with pride he expect his team to be in the Superbowl this year. IMO no one should.

 

Speaking of wayne, what is he doing these days?

 

One thing I like about Ross is that open wallet. It almost felt as if we used excuses about FA's in the past just to save money.

 

I think if he keeps growing like he is that he eventually will be the 2nd greatest dolphins QB of all time but will end up with a superbowl title, unlike the greatest.

 

He's the owner. It's his team. He can do whatever the hell he wants.

To compare Ross to Dan Snyder is pretty ignorant, IMO. They're nothing alike.

 

I say good for him! I say it every year too. I wouldn't bet my life on it but I see it as a possibility. I don't see any harm in thinking positive. Too many people that dwell and focus on negatives over a recreational spectator sport. If you say your team will win and they don't, life goes on. Really it does. Honest.

 

I don't know what he said that was wrong. Henne is routinely accepted as the most prolific QB at UM and who here doesn't hope that he wins three SBs, making him the most successful QB we ever had?

 

The truth, nothing but the absolute, do away with gray areas, get to the root of the real matter, RAW TRUTH. The man has no self discipline.

Why not? He OWNS the team, he paid over a BILLION dollars for that right to say what he thinks. I like his optimism, personally.

 

Ross is not known for being a buffoon, ryan on the other hand...

Please, do not feed the diseased pigeons. Let them flap their wings and make all the noise they want. Thats the only thing they do anyway, make noise and more noise and then some more noise. Thats about it, noise makers. Ignore them, they go shiiit somewhere else after awhile. Usually on themselves.

I missed the part where he said Henne will be better than Marino. I mean, you even quoted the text where he didn't say it.

Every week the media takes people's comments out of context. And then fans take the out of context quotes.....even further out of context.

He didn't say anything wrong.

 

Any good teacher or coach understands that you must have high expectations to achieve greatness. You have to believe, because if you don't you'll surely fall short at some point in some way. I love that he speaks openly about his high hopes and expectations.

When I coach my players, I tell them on several occasions that if we don't go undefeated it'll have been my fault. Same for my students in the classroom, if they don't graduate and pass the exit exam it'll be my fault. Then I back it up by coaching / teaching my *** off.

We havent lost a game in 3 years! Confidence isn't ego. It also isn't disrespect of the challenge at hand. It's just about knowing what we have to do to accomplish the feat and making a solid and complete effort to get there as a team. Expect bumps in the road and plan for challenges from within. Be Ready. Sometimes people within your own team can present the biggest challenges, even moreso than any opposition you face.

 

Really? 'Phins fans getting upset about the owner having expectations of a Super Bowl? ...and also getting upset about the hope that Henne becomes the best QB in 'Phins history?

Wow.

I guess next time he should just say we expect to be watching the Bowl on the tube and hope that Henne is simply "adequate."
