England I think will win, but the U.S will make it tough for them. 1-0 or 2-1 win by the English I'm going for.

Unfortunately I think this is the worst big-team matchup for the USA.

Against other teams they could try to use their supreme conditioning, strength, and brute force style of play to make up for their lack of technique and skill. But if there's one team that matches or exceeds the USA in conditioning and strength, it's England, and we all know their technique is far inferior to England's as well

I'll be rootin hard for the USA, but I see it 3-1 England

Maybe Matt Damon should go talk to all the indians left in this country. We the white people screwed the hell out of them:up:

That's all I'm going to say on that, I just wanted to know who people are going for in the USA/England World Cup game next weekend:knucks:

We gave them Casinos and super-sweet tax breaks. They're good. Sam will fill you in.

USA could win this game. I doubt they will, but no one thought they could beat Spain or Brazil last year and they nearly beat both.

It's pretty much the same US team this year.

Are you debating that USA's technique and skill is near that of England's?

its hard to say we will win, but we have a really good shot here. they may be more skilled overall and can match our strengths, our team is good enough to spring enough counter attacks to score on them

USA has pretty much the same team as they did in 2006. And don't get me wrong. That was a pretty good team. They were the only team that truly outplayed Italy for the entire match.

These guys are older now and on the wrong side of their primes.

You also have to look at England who has been playing much better soccer the last two years then they did leading up to the 2006 World Cup.

It was never a knock on the U.S. It was more a credit to England, who IMO, is the team to beat after Spain and Brazil.

a lot of the names are the same from '06, but almost the whole squad has been playing overseas in some capacity and it has raised their play. the problem is that all the guys have to show up. our country is good enough to field 11-13 guys but not the whole squad.

england's ferdinand appears to be out though

Here is a list of the US Squad for the World Cup in 2006. The players in bold are also apart of the 2010 squad.

    1 GK Tim Howard
    2 DF Chris Albright
    3 DF Carlos Bocanegra
    4 MF Pablo Mastroeni
    5 MF John O'Brien
    6 DF Steve Cherundolo
    7 MF Eddie Lewis
    8 MF Clint Dempsey
    9 FW Eddie Johnson
    10 MF Claudio Reyna
    11 FW Brian Ching
    12 DF Gregg Berhalter
    13 DF Jimmy Conrad
    14 MF Ben Olsen
    15 MF Bobby Convey
    16 FW Josh Wolff
    17 MF DaMarcus Beasley
    18 GK Kasey Keller
    19 GK Marcus Hahnemann
    20 FW Brian McBride
    21 FW Landon Donovan
    22 DF Oguchi Onyewu
    23 DF Eddie Pope

Only eight return out of the 23 that were brought in 2006. However I think 5 to 6 of those players will probably start come the first game vs England, so both of you have a point in what your saying. Even though the squad is quite different, the starting 11 will be made up of quite a number of guys who played in 06.

I dont think that the good old USA have it to win the game. It is probably the poorest England team I have seen going into a World Cup, so maybe that is a good omen for us

As for the Irish and the Scots among you, I love the rivalry, I wouldn't expect anything else. But in a war I love the fact that you are by our side. Some of the best soldiers in the British army are Welsh, Scots or Irish :tongue2:

Have to go with my roots and say England, they are certainly the better team on paper, although we all know that means nothing. As a recent US citizen, I'm a bit torn though. I hope both teams advance out of this group of course.

The Americans will advance...and then get slapped silly after the group stage. Every year we hear about this being the year they make noise. To me it is simple, they get a free pass every year because of the weakness of their region and then fold when they play real clubs.
