This is true. The touchy reffing catered more to the Lakers finesse game. Lakers still had to go out and win that game, but the reffing was not to their disadvantage. Lakers still served the Celtics pancakes
This has been a very hyped series so Stern needs to tell his men to swallow the whistle a tad, this is the NBA finals, this is a heated rivalry, this postseason has basically sucked so pleas let them play tonight.
I'm amazed that Gasol has single handely taken out KG and Glen Davis. Hopefully this wont be another bad officiating game.
It's pretty bad... The NBA has to do something about thehorrible officiating and home team favortism all postseason long. It is making a huge difference. Boston is probably up 20-25 if not for the horrendous calls.
Every time Ray Allen hits a three LAL gets free throws on the oher end, lol... How can anyone possibly not see how horrible this is? It'll be just as bad in Boston with the C's getting every call. The NBA sucks...
I gotta get to work @ photoshopping an image of the refs celebrating the championship with the Lakers. Popping champagne in the locker room and the works. Should be awesome.
25 free throw attempts in ONE HALF... in your own house... and you're down 6? Lakers will get zero props from me if they come back and win this game. ZERO.
Refs completely control ANOTHER crucial playoff game... when will it end? Kobe Bryant did not get touched as shown by the slow mo replay. And 1 though!
I have to say that was another bad game but at least they somewhat helped the C's but still Kobe gets these Phantom calls and no calls its crazy.
I thought there were a good amount of bad calls, but I do think it was pretty equal as both sides were getting them.
It bothered me that they did not show the replay of Baby Davis being packed 3 times, to me that was a huge play and when they did not show the replay it was "uh-huh" time.. Thank goodness the Celts won this one, to hear ESPN radio at work Kobe was MJ and the Celts should just surrender...imagine hearing that for 8 hours..
And that ruins basketball games, there is no flow and when possessions go back to back to back with fouls on both teams that makes for boring watching.
He completely took the game over. All by himself. Both ends of the floor. C's are really the best team in the league, IMO. They won a road game in the Finals playing 5-on-8, with two of the "big four" having horrible games. Very impressive.
That bothered me as a viewer as well, but the Kobe Bryant "and 1" late in the fourth was the icing on the cake for me. They slow mo'ed the replay (unintentionally) right before going on break, and you can see that he did not get touched one bit. Not even a love tap. He sold it well, though. It's funny how when Kobe picked up his 5th foul with 10 minutes to go in the game, my cousin yelled, "no way he picks up the 6th one... even if he completely hacks someone" and everyone else in the house nodded in agreement. Sure enough, that's how it ended. Kobe is the smartest player in the league, but I saw 5-6 plays down the stretch that could have been called foul.
Also don't let the 41-26 FT disparity stat fool you... many of those free throws taken by the C's were late in the fourth (intentional fouls). It was much uglier throughout. At one point, actually, I believe it was 39-17 or so.
If you watch that play again, the foul was called on Ray Allen who couldn't be seen from the slow-mo replay angle right before going to commercial. The replay showed Perkins and I think Pierce to the right side, but Ray allen was behind him and when he landed, nudeged Kobe in the back. But anyway, I've always felt the Lakers are "stacked" on paper, but come money time, no Kobe, no wins. People say Kobe has such a great supporting cast. Really? Name me one time where Kobe had a bad game and his supporting cast bailed him out. (Not attacking you BTW, I'm just asking in general). And I'm reading on NBA forums that the Lakers were 20+ from the line so the bad calls went both ways but thats not the case. The refs basicslly made Kobe i.e. Lakers lifeline sit out and bring Shannon Brown in and in the 4th, Kobe played ball as if he was walking on egg shells. Couldn't play physical D or drive to the rim because i now truly believe every single one of the Celtics practice flopping in practice. IMO, Kobe without foul trouble could have easily been involved whether scoring himself or assisting more than 20 points worth.
My bad man. I just assumed you were a Wade fan because everyone in South Florida is a Wade fanatic and I'm not drinking that kool-aid just yet. And just for the heck of it, in 6 games during the NBA Finals, Wade took 97 free throws, which means if he made it all(impossible), that's enough points for an entire game.
