The refs did to kobe today what they did to ray Allen in game one. Put a great player in foul trouble and it clearly threw both players off their games. Did the same with garnett too . tonight.

Meh, and I'm not drinking that kool-aid (no offense). Jordan got the same calls. Kobe, LeBron, and Durant gets the same calls now as well. It's just a matter of how many times he attacked the basket per game in that series.

If the refs took Kobe Bryant out of the game, then I guess they took the entire Boston Celtics front line out of the game as well. Not an even score so that point is kind of irrelevant. If you can make the excuse for Kobe not being able to be his usual aggressive self, then the point must also be made that Boston's front court was completely eaten alive for the majority of the game because everyone (KG, Perk, Big Baby) was in foul trouble. Literally watched KG stand still in the paint several times rather than contesting shots at the rim to avoid picking up fouls. Overall, this game was definitely called in favor of LA. I don't think there is much disputing that.

Save this post for Tuesday night, though, as I'm sure the calls will favor Boston in their house. That's just how it is in the NBA.

Also, Kobe Bryant does have a great supporting cast. In fact, he easily has the best supporting cast of any star player in the NBA. He's on the most stacked and talented roster in the NBA. No doubt about that. I think you're confusing a "great supporting cast" with a "great co star who can also close out games" though. Aren't too many of those in the NBA. I still call Kobe Bryant the best player in the game, but seriously, his supporting cast makes all others look inferior on paper... and in game. Not even close. Odom and Artest had bad games, but Gasol and Bynum contributed enough to get a win considering the fact that only Ray Allen was a scoring force for Boston most of the way. Lakers had three players with 20+ points tonight.

BTW on either of these two teams, not a single player flops more than Pau Gasol.

to complain about supporting casts and bash wade seems ironic to me. you do realize that the second leading scorer during the 2006 heat playoff run was antoine walker right? that's right antoine walker

Role players are always vital in big series. History repeats itself year after year it seems. A good solid team has that one guy on the bench that you can turn to when you need a spark, IMO, the edge goes to the Celts on this one. Sheed is a modern day Horry almost. Granted it is VERY nice to have a player of Odoms caliber coming off the bench.

KG isn't even a defensive presence any more. I never see him contest lay ups or shots, never see him crash the boards. He is just a glorified Passing and Pick setting PF. I believe its because his knees are gone and jumping or even pushing off is painful. Does anyone else notice KG always has his knees wrapped up on the bench.

KG has fallen pretty far. he is a borderline liability right now. i thought signing wallace was a pointless move before, but now they need him.

he must be in serious pain because despite his limitations, he has enough length and skill to post up and score. it must be a battle for him just to get on the floor

i really dont see how the celtics can win 3 more games with him playing like this

it took a triple double by rondo and 8 3's by allen to win this game

You do realize why Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce are called the big 3 right? If you really think Big Baby, Perk, or KG means to the Celtics what Kobe means to the Lakers, well then.....

How is that? Both teams got called for 29 fouls and yes, the Lakers did take 15 more free throws. But you don't seem to understand that without Kobe, the number one option is Pau and he feeds off Bryant through pick and rolls etc. 2 RIDICULOUSLY BOGUS calls on Kobe forced him to sit. Do you not know the Lakers aren't like the Celtics where they play team ball and run set plays? Everything feeds off Kobe because of the triangle offense. Pay attention to the next game and you will see the Lakers do not run set plays.

You're getting way too caught up in the box score. First you say the refs heavily favored the Lakers yet when Gasol and Bynum has big numbers because of those whistles, you now use the "Kobe has the greatest supporting cast" card. So which one is it? They're +20 points because they are good or because the whistle was in their favor? And seriously I think you just watch the highlights because to say the Lakers are the most stacked team on paper and in the game is just naive. The Celtics are the easily the most stacked team. They have Rondo who is arguably the MVP of the Playoffs, Future Hall of Famers in Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and KG(although he's not what he once was). Perkins showed he is solid enough to "contain" Dwight Howard, Shaq, And Jermaine O'Neal. Coming off the bench they have Tony Allen who did a great job making Wade and Lebron work. Rasheed Wallace who is a big body that shows he can still hit those timely 3's. Glen Davis is extremely nimbel for his size and a good effort player and a solid shooter for a big man. Nate Robinson is someone that can create a spark with his energy. Forgetting the box score and just comparing players and impact and performance from actually watching the game, I'd give the nod to the Celts for the better team roster.

Yea, and what's your point? Everyone else on the Lakers had 7 points or less...

Nope, Paul Pierce does. Watch him whenever he dribble and drives, he's always gonna make a grimace on his face as if he's in pain because he's supposedly getting fouled.

    Average 50 ppg? Win 5 MVP's in a row?

    On the gambling front....

    In limbo now....

Had the Lakers won...a game 3 bet on the Celts was going to be the bet of the playoffs for me.

Now...if the Lakers win game 3...a Celtics bet on game 4 is a easy hit.

I like the series to come back to LA 3-2 in favor of the Celtics.

The under might be a play for the 3 game set in Boston.

you are probably right in terms of probability, but the celts are going to have to raise their game to do that. i dont think they can win another game if pierce and KG cant combine for say 30-35 points. thats probably the better bet...if there was one

Pierce is not going to score much, if at all. As long as the Celtics keep exploiting the matchups, they'll have a shot to win.

I still think in the end though, Stern isn't going to let the Lakers lose. We'll see.

they both were actually decent in the first game, but the entire team could not defend

allen for whatever reason really gives kobe trouble and when he is scoring, it tires out bryant. so maybe allen is the key, idk

they absolutely have to keep working the pick and roll, because the post up game is looking dreadful. big baby needs a ladder lol

Officials enlisted for Game 3 in Boston tonight were Danny Crawford, Bennett Salvatore and Bill Kennedy.

How can Stern assign Bill Kennedy to a Celtics game during the Finals with a straight face? Tonight is going to be a ****show.

The props I liked for tonight were the First quarter Pierce points OVER..and the Pierce Points Over as well..they are asking you to LAY money on both and not just a little...then of course..the number on 1st quarter points is at 6 points. Nice push trap.

This is basically a stick up.

    **** You Bodog.

Of all those props, I'd say Odom under 17 reb+points is the best one I see.

I'm on the Celtics myself tonight.

The Number is 17. Not 12.

So if you like the Under on Points + Rebs for Odom...you have the privilege of laying -110. It is probably the best bet of the lot..but I don;t like it.

Yeah, I edited when I saw my typo.

I'm not big on prop bets myself. Too much can change by gameplanning and coaching. But Odom doesn't match up well against Boston.

Couple of other bets for me tonight: PIT Pirates +190 and TOR +162.
