Amexicano : Not your normal movie. I'm sure some would chalk it up to a poorly made repeat, but I think it leaves just enough to not come off as too preachy, and at the same time throw out ideas about illegal immigration. I recommend it for lovers of independent films and who don't mind alright acting. I think it was well worth it.
Caution though approach it with an open mind. If you do I think you will see its true significance.

the reviews i read really turned me off from it because a lot of them made it seem like the whole movie was a thinly veiled non-stop commentary on race relations, but it really wasnt (not that that is bad, but not what i want from this type of movie). its there, but more implicit and not preachy in the dialogue. black and white and even sometimes alien get blame. there is a certain reality to it. you can kind of see how it can happen. nearly every other alien movie assumes instant domination and this one shows something different

whomever that director is created a ton of tension throughout the movie. jeez, that medical room had me squirming

whats kind of funny is that in the very beginning, the main character sort of reminded me of a hapless michael scott from the office knocking on the doors of the shantytown, oblivious to everything. then he kind of becomes a bad ***

I agree. When you go in already knowing the basic story you need really good acting to be better than the original. IMO they succeeded. I thought Smith and Chan had great performances. And I thought the level of MAs was so far above the original it wasn't even funny. Some of the stuff in the tournament seemed a bit over the top, but I haven't watched any competitions in China to know if it was or not. I also thought the kid he fought against was much scarier than Johnny.

    Edge of Darkness.

What a steaming pile of excrement.

    Shutter Island.

Interesting, suspenseful, well acted and entertaining. The "twist" is predictable.

    The A-Team.

Good but not GREAT. It's a franchise reboot in the vein of last year's Star Trek, except that ST did a better job of acknowledging the original material and bridging the gap between the old and the new. A-Team sort of reluctantly acknowledges its past, and consciously craps on its source material by destroying BA's van (it's in the trailers, I'm not spoiling anything) and making the Dirk Benedict/Dwight Schultz cameos really obscure "blink and you'll miss it" type appearances.

Still a good movie, though the ending sequence is way too Hollywood.

    X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

It was alright...for its genre it was ok, as cinema in general it was trite and predictable.

Liev Shreiber was brilliant as he is in everything he does; and they should have maximized Ryan Reynolds' part - he's an underrated screen presence.

I saw A-team and I enjoyed it. Several of the action scenes were unbelievable and it was clearly a typical summer hollywood movie, but the cast had great chemistry. The performances were good to very good. I thought the comedic timing was spot on and I laughed several times. And the action sequences, though unbelievable were a lot of fun. I think part of the whole A-Team thing is that the plans are supposed to be unbelievable.

Get him to the Greek - This movie was vrry funny, it starts out slow though.

Before that I saw Prince of Persia- I liked it it was very entertaining and usually videogame movies tend to suck ***. I am suprised the plot was actually pretty faithful to the source material though.

I also saw the a team and thought it was well done. I don't think it reluctantly acknowledged its beginnings, I think it did its best to reboot the series and explain the back story. If it was reluctant it wouldn't have had hannibal saying his catch phrase as much as he did IMO.

I can see where he's coming from, but at the same time, it's a pretty good flick. There are times when it's very faithful to the source and other times when it's A-Team in name only.

The best way to think about it: if the characters weren't named Hannibal, B.A., Faceman, and Murdock, you wouldn't really know this was the A-Team.

Not really unbelievable so much as improbable. In the original series, the team usually had very few resources and little prep time, so they made do in almost MacGuyver-like fashion. The plans were silly rather than outlandish. The movie is more outlandish than silly.

I agree; he's one of those guys who is so mercurial onscreen that it's hard to get a read on him, so he'll never be a fan favorite like other eclectic actors.

    He's definitely underrated.

I think Kilmer is a very good actor from his character in real genius to doc holliday and others.

For the A Team, did they have scenes where guys are shooting at each other across a 15 foot room with AK 47's and no one gets shot except the recliner used for cover? Or a scene where a car rear ends another car gets launched in the air flips multiple times lands on its roof and all occupants get out and walk away? That kind of stuff irritated the hell out of me. I have to admit though from the previews the new A Team movies looks like a good old fun action flick.

Finally got around to seeing the hangover last night. Funny flick especially the pics during the credits.

No, the "no one gets hurt" stuff was just an '80s cliche that's died out. In this movie, people do get hurt, but they keep on going despite it.

What I think people don't realize is that val kilmers had roles that have become iconic and taken on a life of their own. Not a lot of actors/actresses can say the same.

The Lovely Bones and Inglorious Basterds.

Lovely Bones was interesting kinda drawn out and boring.

Inglorious Basterds had some really intense scenes. I thought the opening and the bar scene did a great job at doing that. Didn't really like how the ending went down. IT was almost comical how the movie turned out.
