The US is thin on talent to begin with, losing Davis and an Altidore injury and I don't see them beating a great Team.

England, however, is not a "great' team...I see a 2-2 tie

IMO, outside of Brazil and Spain, England is the team to beat this tournament.

Say what you will about Argentina, but I'll take a slightly inferior Capello coached team over a slightly superior Maradona coached team.

With that said: USA, USA, USA!!!

This is our year to make a mark. I got USA taking it 2-1. We're better coached than in the past. I expect a strong showing by team USA!

...They DO have a final 8 finish in the WC in recent history.

You would think they were Costa Rica by your comments.

Key to this game for me will be can the US shutdown England's creativity and stay disciplined enough to withstand English pressure. Because of the way the US play, I'm certain that England will have the majority of possession in the game, its whether they will be able to make use of it.

One thing that stood out for me in the US vs Australia game is that the US play very well on the counter. That is something England will need to be careful of and they could be exploited if they play 4 in midfield.

The USA back line is crap. England will put at least 3 in the back of the net:wink2:

    Why not 6? Or 15?

    I am predicting England 354 USA 1

Okay..I am convinced..the US should just forfeit.

beckham scouting our team telling capello that we will be vulnerable in the early minutes because of our nerves

    http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/wo...ut-u-s-weakness--fbintl_ro-beckham060910.html

he claims that in our friendly against them a couple of year ago, he could see our players visibly shaking from nerves

i dont see that this time. new coach, more international experience across the board and confed cup experience. i really dont think our guys will be as intimidated as he thinks

You would hope that would not be the case, as these guys are all professionals and there are a few veterens in that team.

But Beckham is right in saying England should really get after the US early, as I think it would blow apart the US gameplan (or what I think will be there gameplan) of sitting back and trying to hit England on the counter.

Is the US strong enough to beat a MLS team 3-0:shifty:

Strong enough to slap Spain in the mouth and then have Brazil down 2-0 in the Con Cup.

Over/Under on Rooney whiney / incredulous looks while waving his arms around at a referee:

I have the number at 114.

If they could be up 2-0 against Brazil at halftime in the confederation cup championship last year then this team can beat anybody. Don't underrate this team.

    USA! USA! USA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm. I dunno about that. They gave up 3 goals in that game. Besides, soccer is an under-developed sport in the USA.
I'm rooting for the US as much as you are but the English selection has way more talent. There's always a chance for an upset, though, especially in the group stage.

England should come out strong, early...shock the Americans into catching up. That said, I'm rooting for the US in this match. It would be a good start to the Cup.
