The Dolphins, Colts and Jets have been the three teams most heavily recruiting CFL talent to come try out in the NFL, every Dolphins fan saw the Cameron Wake highlight videos from his time in the CFL, but there are more hidden gems awaiting North of the Border.

Weston Dressler, Manny Arceneaux, Adarius Bowman, Phil Hunt and the Montreal Alouettes Head Coach Marc Trestmen was looked at as a possible HC in Oakland and Buffalo and imho will eventually land at least a Offensive Coordinators Job in the NFL in the near future.

Last year it was quite funny to read some of the comments on the CFL game, like maybe that league was filled with unathletic players who would not stand a chance in the NFL game, with Wake and the Steelers Stefon Logan making Day 1 impacts, expect more crossborder traffic.

The CFL and perhaps more importantly, the CIS, Canada's version of the NCAA producing more athletic players, the CFL will only grow as a source of NFL calibur talent with the Colts making a run at Cameron Wake's successor for CFL DPOY John Chick a DE from Saskatchewan.

    Manny Arceneaux:

Interesting thing about NCAA/NFL to CFL players, the first thing they have to do is actually slim down, the CFL is a fast man's game, guys who played at 260 have to get down to the 230/240 range just to pick up additional speed and quickness.

Cameron Wake is good, and being from the CFL it explains why he's a pass rush specialist. But he really has to work on his game to become more well rounded if he wants to make a real splash in the NFL. And I think that's a problem with a lot of players coming out of the CFL. They can do a couple things really well but they don't have the total package and that's why they can't make it in the NFL. Of course there are always exceptions, but it's a different game up there, they expect different things from the same positions, they train differently, they're coached differently and it's really hard to make accurate predictions of how a CFL player will translate to the NFL. So basically it's a crap shoot on a guy who coming in is going to be basically one step ahead of a rookie whom you have to teach the game from basically square one.

That's good to hear. I hope they find us a good player or two.

I mildly disagree, what does happen is a player is asked to do completely different things in the NFL than in the CFL, that is where the projection takes place.

For example, Cam Wake, he is no doubt a ready to play 4-3 weakside DE, he could start for most teams who run a 4-3, however in Miami he has to play 3-4 OLB.

Ditto kick returners, both can play from Day 1 in the NFL, where things grow fuzzy is positions that move differently and have to do completely different things.

So I'd say "where' they played in the CFL and where they are being asked to play in the NFL is more of a factor, like metric tools vs American standard inch tools, some work, some won't.

Depends on the Wr, most CFL offenses are more or less run and shoot affairs, some plays however, are not, so it is a hodge podge of Wr who can block and ones who rarely if ever block.

Great points Trowa, and you are quite correct. I am from Canada, and enjoy both leagues; am an avid football fan. This also works both ways, believe it or not. Some NFL players that have come north have not fared so well. When Ricky played for the Toronto Argonauts a few years back, he really wasn't anything special in the Canadian game. So much hype and it just didn't work out for him. I'd rather have him for the Fins anyhow, I HATE the Argos.

FS, TE, KR, PR, lets hope they find some of these to churn the bottom of the roster with. I think ultimately Cam Wake will be a real steal for us.

Yeah Wake was a great pickup. I don't watch much CFL but if they find more player like Wake then I'm all for it. Like others said I hope they are able to find a few gems at TE and FS.

FS and TE are two positions that do not translate to the NFL PR, most CFL teams do not use a TE, and their FS are more like 205 pd linebackers.

KR,WR,DE,FB/RB translate sort of like 13mm sockets on half inch bolts.

    Oline and Qb, Cb?

Hit and miss, that is the largest jump to make.
