I agree that those T's were deserved, especially Nate's. My complaint is that I see Kobe and Gasol overreact in the same light every time they miss a shot.
very surprised at the celts win. its looking like its a matter of the starters being gassed and not being able to play the majority of the game. its partly a speed issue, but pierce and garnett are looking old to me. rondo is still a liability on offense. its very clear when you see the contrast of nate robinson when he comes in this officiating stuff is really becoming a dead horse. if you cant be civil, leave
Truth is this is the worst officiated league in sports so officiating complaints will always be beaten to a dead horse. I admit that I'm one of the biggest exaggerators when it comes to this, but the officials are more unpredictable than the actual teams and players. That, to me, is a serious issue that needs to be addressed heading into the future. It's going beyond simple "superstar calls" now... I didn't really have an issue with how tonight's game was officiated for the most part, though. Not because Boston won (I don't care), but because players were allowed to be physical. This is the NBA Finals. It should be physical.
The refs have been horrible all series I was waiting for the game that it swayed in Bostons favor. You know I said wow that's a charge then on the replay it looked like he was still moving and he wasn't set. It was very close to call. Bynum is difference maker for the Lakers. Odom can't duplicate what Bynum does on the defensive side and on the glass. If Bynum misses Game 5 I can see the C's winning. I disagree Sheed had a right to be mad he hit all ball. Nate deserved it for getting in his face.
To me Garnett needs to attack the basket rather than settle for the jumper. It was clear Gasol couldn't guard him in game 3. Rondo is a liability on offense for the simple fact his jumper is inconsistent and he might be the worst free throw shooting PG in NBA history. But defensively he might be the best on the court. Tonight was bad also but it was reversed instead of the Lakers getting the calls it was Boston. I agree though leave the ticky tack calls for the regular season playoff basketball should be a battle. Btw do you have a GIF of Paul Pierce punching the Ref?
to me, nba officials simply have no control over a given big game and that has to be by design. it goes beyond "ticky tack" it all comes down to favoring the big time players imo. it therefore has to be inconsistent im a much bigger college BB fan, and this kind of stomping around the court and all this nonsense simply never goes on the way it does in the NBA.
idk, you have players slamming into each other on every play. they have a right to be mad about it because the calls dont make sense. the refs allow wrestling matches, but as soon as a shot goes up, its becoming an automatic whistle.
Huge, HUGE win. I'm working on about an hour sleep because I was too wired to go to bed immediately after the game last night. I thought the referees were terrible (as they have been the whole series), but I felt it was the first time the calls favored a specific team (the Lakers). Maybe its just selective memory on my part, but I can think of at least 4 mind-numbingly awful calls, off the top of my head, that went the Lakers way: - 2 on Rasheed - the Gasol play - where he flopped and the Kobe block - where he got T'ed up - the 1 second call on KG - the block Ray Allen had on Kobe in the final minutes that led to 3 free-throws -- he got ALL ball Of course, I'm sure there were some calls that didn't go the Lakers way (the Pierce charge on Kobe late in the 4th stands out, of course Kobe also drew a charge in the 2nd quarter that should have been a block) but overall I felt like Boston got screwed. There's certainly been no home-court bias, which I'm fine with considering the Celts are going to have to win the clincher on the road. That said, the officiating better not change as the series shifts back to LA. I love when Kobe goes into "hero" mode. He had a big night scoring-wise, but I thought the Celtics did an excellent job of defending him, Tony Allen especially. The referees bailed him out on a couple of occasions as well. Lastly, I'm concerned about the starters moving forward in this series. They're missing wide open opportunities. They're getting great looks and simply not hitting. Hopefully the 2-days between now and Game 5 will help alleviate some of their shooting problems, if they are indeed related to fatigue. Game 5 is going to be huge. I'd love to this front-running Laker team behind in a series with their backs against the wall. Something tells me they won't react well. Also, if Baby had any length at all -- he'd be unstoppable. I love the guy. PS -- can anyone confirm if Derek Fisher was seen crying again last night? What a joke.
The refs weren't overly bad last night. Great game for the Celtics bench which was the difference. I have always hated Nate Robinson...much more so now. Glen Davis might be ******ed. I am being serious.
I understand the emotion of the games but I've seen at least a few borderline personal attacks in this thread. Don't be the next poster to spout off otherwise you might want to start picking vacation spots. If you see a post calling you or someone else out don't respond to it. Just report it. Let the staff handle it. There is no reason to put your own standing in jeopardy for a response where the actions of the staff do the talking for you. It's not a good morning when there's about fifteen posts in an otherwise good thread that need deleting.
I had to change that around a bit just to make it a little more friendly....and throw a Hangover reference in there while I was at it.
We need you on the bandwagon for 2 more games. I will not distribute thank you's until banner 18 is raised into the rafters. Seriously though -- you've got the NBA down to a science. Its pretty unbelievable.
Update on Bynum? I haven't been able to find much at all aside from him personally stating that he's going to play no matter what since there are only 2-3 games left in the season. If he's not able to be effective this entire series obviously takes a turn in favor of Boston.
The Lakers are phoney tough though Sect, they can throw elbows but they don't mean it, the Celts have Baby Davis drooling on himself in the paint.
considering the nonsense in this thread that included infractions and deleting about a page of posts, posting about fouls and refereeing in the heat-dallas series in this thread will come with points for being off topic if we want to discuss it, start a new thread. if you dont want to start a new thread, dont talk about it
As a Ron Artest fan his entire career... I am shocked that he didn't attack Rondo after that shove. And unlike most, I'm not proud of his maturity; I'm disappointed in him buying into that punk system and becoming a punk himself. Sure it's the "smart" thing to do, but shove me and get shoved right back, then punched and beaten until a teammate holds me back.
