``Nolan is real athletic and quick -- he will play a lot of years in the league,'' Yeremiah Bell said.
Jake Long said Misi ``is quick off the line, very strong for his size.'' Channing Crowder added, ``He's still getting a rush even when he goes against Jake and Vernon Carey.'' Quentin Moses said ``college to the NFL was night and day for me, but Misi has made the transition easily. He looks so smooth; his motor stands out.''

Four veterans who received multiple mentions: Dansby, Pat White, Vontae Davis and Chad Henne (who has completed more than 75 percent of his passes in May/June drills). Ronnie Brown cited Kory Sheets and Joey Haynos as most improved. ``Pat White is by far the most improved player,'' Greg Camarillo said. ``He has changed his body, improved his accuracy. Last year, he was hit or miss.''

There is more - its worth reading.

Because people looked at his highlight reel and got all happy. But in reality, every player has a highlight reel.

Might he eventually live up to the hype of the fans, maybe. Just not right now.

    We'll see.

Haynos if he manages to become a OT/TE type is huge, an extra OT who can run routes and inline block is such a weapon,

FSB by Barry Jackson is, by far, the best quality source of Dolphins news around. He does the Miami Herald proud, and blows away the likes of Omar Kelly and Armando Salguero, who are a couple of hacks in comparison. I do miss Jason Cole, him leaving the Herald was a bummer. He did a great job on the Q&A segment for the Herald. The other local standout is the Drew Rosenhaus segment on local TV WSVN. A lot of people hate the guy, but the info is good. Cheers, thx for posting.

Good news and great way to start a Sunday.

I'm really excited about some of the new blood and can't wait to see them in action especially after they get a few games under their belts and get a feel for the NFL.

All good news, especially Misi and Sheets, but can't get too excited about it. Sure there's a lot of this going on with a lot of teams this time of year, won't know anything for sure until September but it's encouraging at least.

Exactly, Jones's best ability is as a hitter, without pads that will not show up during the pajama party that is OTA's

I do think the rumblings about Kory Sheets are good news, in fact between RGM,Sheets and Pruitt a explosive returner will be an option this year.

As for Pat White, I'll say Dolfans should be patient with him, there are some encouraging rumblings as Omark commented on in the last open OTA, but we all should just wait and see with him imho.

I have some confidence his speed and explosiveness should be greatly improved this year which will make a huge difference in his game imho.

Let's pray that this is the case and a coverage/football IQ issue. It'd be devastating to have a hammer out there who can't get into position to make the play be it an INT or big hit.

Not unusual though, sometimes these cats just don't have the mind to play Safety in the NFL, it happens.

To me the real story is this is the first year in many many years that the Dolphins don't have to hit on every draft pick and get some production out of all of them. We've finally reached a point where there is quality depth.

That could not be said since the Jimmie Johnson era.

Just finished reading this article and I too was happy to hear the players talk up Pat White. I wasn't to pleased when we drafted him so high at 2nd, but once that was history I've been pulling for him. Another name I've been following since last Oct is Sheets. I would love to see an outside threat with our running game.

That said, I feel the need to point out that my absolute fav fin is Lex Hillard. He's the closes I've seen to Larry Czonka, my all time fav. Hope to be seeing Lex blow up some DB's this year!

Encouraging news, especially about Nolan Carroll. Is it me or are the rest of you more intrigued by how Misi performs? I mean even more than Odrick or Dansby. I view him as the key to the whole draft in that you kinda know what you're gonna get from Odrick and Jerry.

To me, if Misi doesn't pan out like they expected then it was a mistake not grabbing Graham at #12.

To me, Misi is being hyped a bit too much, from Lombardi to Barry Jackson he is receiving love for doing little else but run around in shorts and a tshirt.

A couple of newbies are growing on me though, Odrick could be the key to our passrush, and the Returners have me intrigued.

I think the reason most of us aren't patient with Pat White is because his only job will be gadget plays. He's not challenging for the starting job. Getting excited about the development of a person who will play maybe 5 snaps a game is silly. Maybe if he were our second stringer then we'd be even more excited but that's simply not the case.

    couple thoughts...

Pat White was a wasted draft pick. He is never ever ever going to be an NFL QB. You just don't spend a 2nd round pick on a gimmick guy.

I'll wait until the pads are on before I say weather or not Jones is going to be any good. Having said that, my biggest concern on this team is the FS position. I just don't see an NFL FS on our roster right now.

Lastly, I hope Misi turns out to be as good a player as they are making him out to be. Personally, I think he is going to be good at just about everything except rushing the passer. I think he struggles in that department for us this year.

I find the positive reports about Henne, Sheets/Haynos and the LBs most encouraging. You also have to like Dansby's comments, but I don't know him well enough to know if he's somebody who says those kinds of things every year or not.

I would list the Pat White news as most surprising. I didn't like the pick, but I like the kid and I find myself rooting for him to make it.

I would list the Nolan Carroll news as surprising but you can include me among those who have never seen him play or had even heard of him prior to the draft. So, I really had no expectation either way.

The Reshad Jones news is disappointing. I didn't like the pick, but I was hoping to end up wrong on that one. The Turner news is disappointing for him, but I never expected anything from him so I don't think it will affect the team anymore than if I were too injured to play this year.

I would have liked to have heard somebody mention Wake. I expect big things from him this year and the silence is a bit ominous.

So it has been decided already that he is a disappointment.
I'm not sure what kind of NEWS you are talking about because all there is this.

what does that really mean except for Jones hasn't challenged CC. I would figure Jones to be more geared to ultimately replace Bell as SS.
But oh well everyone has labeled him a bust in shorts.
Dolphin fans kill me. A few OTA's and he is thrown onto the "never going to be anything" pile

A veteran issuing a "no comment" there basically means he couldn't think of anything good to say. You would assume that you might at least get a generic "he works hard". The fact that he didn't even get that is disappointing. That doesn't mean Jones is already a disappointment or a bust. That hasn't been decided yet and frankly shouldn't be for a couple of years. But to pretend that it isn't disappointing that a veteran couldn't think of anything good to say after watching the kid work for a week is unrealistic at best.

And nobody said he's"never going to be anything" or that he's a bust. You seem to be trying to perfect the art of jumping to the extremes on every little statement.

So your complaining that people are calling him a "bust" or that they're are putting him on the "never going to do anything pile" when nobody said that isn't speculation on your part? That's not even making an assumption, much less a reasonable assumption, like that "no comment" is a negative. You're taking no information and chastising posters for something they didn't do.

    Fair enough.
I did come down a little heavy on you and I apologize for that.
My whole take is we don't really no where the "no comment" came from or the circumstances so I wouldn't read too much into it really.
Also the article sets high expectations for guys who are still in shorts.
I like the info the article gives us but it is way too early to tell if any of it will play out that way when these guys get into camp. I'm hoping the positive things that were said come true.

    Speed....Vick had it, White doesn't

While White is very elusive in the open field, he has to somehow get there with the football. If you aren't a WR, then to get there (open field) you need speed and or power. White has neither at this level... and that is why I have very little hope to ever see much from him. Certainly not enough to build a package around.

I have to believe that when the staff analyzed White's college tapes, they saw something unique. My guess is that he ran through his progressions, he was very good at making read whether to run or pass. And unlike more athletic QBs, whose running is initiated by feeling some pressure; White more often than not, ran if defense turned to cover or pass if defenders' eyes stayed on him.

Perhaps, their experience Pennington led to overvaluing a good football head with limited athletic abilities. I would like to think that if White has good QB decision-making, he'll be able to get to spread to the player with the best chance to break an one-on-one tackle.

Finally, Ginn was a bad match with White since a deep pass is a low % play, especially for a cold QB and a Wildcat offense that is based upon high % plays. Marshall's presence adds consistent short/intermediate routes plus another player that can turn a broken one-on-one tackle into a big play.

I went back and looked at Vick's best plays as a Falcon and what I found is his longest runs came on passing downs when the ILB's dropped back into coverage, that is when space was created for Vick to break long runs.

As for White he did run an unofficial 4.46, adding additional 8 pds of lean muscle mass should improve his speed further, he won't run a Vicklike 4.32 40, but his explosiveness will be improved.

    white is plenty fast enough.

The difference in white and vick was that occasionally vick threw the ball to lure defenses into pass coverage. Where as whenever we put white in, defenses thought "Kill him. The dolphins would never call a pass play with him in at QB"

I don't see it like that... this is where we end up on diff sides

I'm excited to see what Henne does with the addition of Marshall.... and "Henne to Marshall" is IMO what will make White totally expendable.

I think now that we have a QB with a live arm and one of the biggest play makers in the game at WR, I just don't see the need to have Pat White as part of the equation...... not throwing the football anyway. I can never see a time when I'd rather have White out there throwing a pass than Henne.

Do we really need to keep developing more deception and gimmicks when we have one of the most dynamic rushing attacks in the league? I mean Henne's got play fake opportunities all day long afforded to him by that running game. The opportunities for big plays in the base offense are more than most teams could dream of.... I'd prefer to concentrate on that mostly, add a little wildcat and keep the better players on the field.

That and I'm concerned with how far they push the offense towards getting too cute..... we have a hell of an offensive roster. Hell of a base offense. And that's exactly what we should be in most of the time.

PW needs to find a role in the wildcat..... or I think he's a short timer on this team

FUN for the fans or the players? A running QB is not popular with good WRs.

One of the benefits of the Wildcat is popular with the players as it enables multiple play-makers to make a big play. The challenge for White will be to involve his players and perhaps run strategically (i.e. move chains, take advantage of cheating defender, set up future play, etc).

My guess is that Marshall will be featured in 1 WR sets for some mano-a-mano football. The Jets had a lot success with a heavy set with Jones sweeps or Edwards catching seam passes. I believe this formation will be part of Dolphins base offense due to their power running ability plus Henne/Marshall. If so, the personnel grouping allows for a quick transition to White's packages.

As for drama, I predict Soprano and Henning will unleash for the Jets game, where the extra TV cameras can cover Marshall and Revis. The one WR set will allow the world to see if Revis Island includes a safety over the top. Henne/White packages with Marshall forces the safety to move his alignment and Dolphins's success will force Ryan to either expose Revis or his run defense. Marshall will have a ball as tight coverage increases his ability to break a tackle and soft coverage (as Edwards received in 1 wr set) will make Revis look average. Moreover, TV cameras will credit Marshall blocks on the safety or Revis if Ricky or Ronnie break a long one.

Marshall presence provides with a number of high % plays that White's running should be a 4th option. Most likely, White will be spreading the ball to Ricky running wide right, Marshall of short/intermediate passes on left, and Ronnie hitting the right tackle gap.

The role is Ronnie's sidekick, interchangable, yet always on the field together.

If successful, I think the dynamic that could bring to this team, and this offense as a whole, would blow your mind.

I see what you are saying, I also think you underestimate how committed to the WC Sparano is.

Hmm, I can especially if White shows more as a Qb in the preseason as that forces opponents to spend time practicing and preparing for that dimension of offense.

Yep, especially when one considers the Jets ran the WC in the AFC Title game.

I think the offense is a Wr and Te short, but that is just me. Point being is the more options the harder it is to defend, BMarsh will catch the ball if it is thrown near him, that talent opens up a whole plethora of new opportunities for White.
