You are sadly mistaken if you think it was Ricky, and not Wannstedt that set our franchise back years. Do you remember how bad our line was that season? How many running backs were injured for us that season? 4? I forget. Had Ricky played, he most likely would have been injured by week 3. He also probably wouldn't still be around today to be a highly effective member of today's team. But even if Ricky had been able to stay healthy in 2004 and be effective; maybe we win 2 or 3 more games and have to suffer through a couple more years of Wannstedt before cutting bait. And who knows where we would be today. Everything happens for a reason. Anyway, if you want to continue with sour grapes from 6 years ago over Ricky quitting, that's your business. But I'm not going to sit back and let you blame the deterioration of our franchise on Ricky. The way I see it, Ricky quitting didn't cause the downfall of our franchise. The deterioration of our offensive line, drafting, and franchise, caused by Wannstedt caused Ricky to quit.
we used 2 first round picks on the guy and he runs away to smoke weed... we say Jason Allen set us back by wasting a first round pick on him... Ricky was 2 and if you say ricky would have gotten hurt, isn't that what you rip Ronnie Brown for? so either he quit or would have gotten hurt anyway, thats your logic? i'll take a guy getting hurt putting 100% on the field than running away...
Find one post on this message board where I've ripped on Ronnie Brown for getting hurt. I've given some very mild criticism toward Ronnie for his consistency in years where he has been healthy, but not once have I ever "ripped" him for getting hurt. I'm a huge Ronnie Brown fan, so don't try and paint me as anything else. I don't think Ricky should have quit on this team despite having some valid reasons. That being said, in my opinion Ricky is making up for his mistakes by playing hard for us now. Life is too short to be bitter and hateful towards a player for something that happened 6 years ago. Especially since that player is doing everything he can to make amends for that mistake. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing, no matter what religion or belief you subscribe too. Your vote is your own business, but you've made it very clear you're more wrapped up in voting against Ricky than voting for which ever player you want to win.
The only thing you have to know about the Wanny years....from 2000-2004....Carey is the only draft pick left on the team.....and he ran Ricky on the avg of 372 times a year.....what did you expect to happen, he was bound to fail....could he have handled it differently...maybe, and probably....the way RB has been, he wouldnt have even made it out of October during Wanny's tenure.. I think thats why you see so many 2 back systems now...
Chad Henne [120] Ricky Williams [86] - Everyone blames Wanny, yet Ricky wanted more carries. Then he cried and took his ball home when he got what he wanted Jake Long [195] + Yet to cry and take his ball home. Randy Starks [34]
Chad Henne [121] +++++ Ricky Williams [86] ----- waaahhh i had too many carries, waaahhh Jake Long [195] Randy Starks [33]
Chad Henne [121] Ricky Williams [88] + Waaaah, I'm still crying about something that happened in 2004, waaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Jake Long [195] Randy Starks [31] -
Chad Henne [121] Ricky Williams [89] +++ Mad respect for a guy who straightened his life out after many mistakes and repays his dues with hard work. Jake Long [194] --- Randy Starks [31]
Chad Henne [120] Ricky Williams [87] --- Jake Long [196] +++ Randy Starks [32] Hey guys, I just wanna say that I'm not gonna get into this debate that's going on right now. While I don't share the same passion towards Ricky that some of you do, I also don't have any hatred towards him. I'd be the first to admit he came through for us big time last season when Ronnie went down. Which, went a long way towards erasing what he did in the past as far as I'm concerned. Having said all that, he's just not my guy. My guy is Big Jake. So, any votes you see from me are simply based on me wanting Long to win this, and nothing else. Peace...
Chad Henne [120] Ricky Williams [88] ++++ love this man. Jake Long [196] Randy Starks [31] ----After Starks is gone, this is going to get fun.
Chad Henne [121] + It looks like a Michigan versus Michigan Shootout! Ricky Williams [88] Jake Long [196] Randy Starks [30] - How is he hanging around on this list still?
Chad Henne [122] +++++++ Ricky Williams [86] ------ god help us if our backup running back ends up the MVP of our team again Jake Long [198] Randy Starks [29]
Chad Henne [121] ---god help us if our STARTING Qb has another year where he throws more interceptions than touchdowns... Ricky Williams [87] ++ Jake Long [198] Randy Starks [29]
Chad Henne [121] Ricky Williams [88] + Laughing out loud that there is someone holding the fact that Ricky was our team MVP against him. He was our MVP because he EARNED it. Jake Long [198] Randy Starks [28] - The plain vanilla ice cream cone of this list. Delicious, yet unremarkable.
