How can Fisher get away with chopping KG's hands off? Wow 29 points through 2 quarters LMAO You would think the C's would come out with fire but they look as flat as they did in game 1.
I feel the same way. I wonder if Perkins tore his ACL. Not bad the Lakers still getting favorable calls.
I despise when commentators ramble their mouths... "blah blah blah blah... as rondo makes that huge shot.... blah blah blah".
When the Lakers team come to play they are clearly the better team. Also I dont think I ever seen a starting PG that cant shoot a 15 ft jumper or hit from the free throw line. Rondo needs to develop a shot.
No but when the C's were up by X amount the refs would swing the momentum. Just saying I haven't seen a whole lot of that going the C's way in this series. Horrible game for Rondo. Btw nice elbow Artest.
Btw I'm not saying the C's lost this game because of the Refs they lost because they flat out sucked. IF Perkins is out game 7 Lakers will win it all.
I think its worse when they say the Dolphins Qb hasnt thrown a int in 3 games then bam he throws a pick.
Becaue Perkins is the key to this series. Obviously, a big going down hurts the Celtics. But when your bench doesn't score a ****ing point until the fourth quarter, and you are being outrebounded even WHEN Perkins was in...you have bigger problems. I missed game five and am only listening to game six on the radio. It is funny to hear the announcers raving about the Celtics defense in the second half...as the Lakers continue to stretch the lead. Brilliant. Thursday should be fun. Game 7's usually are. But with these two teams...it is much bigger. And History will be made. L.A. has never beat Boston in a Game 7, and Phil Jackson has never lost a series in which he has won game one. Expect Kobe to try and kill the Celtics by himself. He is getting some decent rest tonight and with Game 7 at home against the biggest rival...he will rise (or at least try to) the occasion.
He is the only one who can guard Bynum, he is the only one on the C's that can rebound. Yes I think losing the only legit Center you have is a monumental loss. Sheed cannot duplicate what Perkins does on defense. If he is out I think the C's lose they will not out rebound the Lakers without Perk. Problem is no one showed up tonight for the C's its almost like they went in thinking they were going to lose. Game 7 should be a wild one.
Early word is two sprained ligaments for Perkins. He is quoted as saying he is going to try and play on it. He has an MRI scheduled for tomorrow. I am guessing a tear has occurred as well, but we will have to wait and see. My point about Perkins is...even if he was in tonight, I don't think L.A. was losing that game. They held Boston to 67 points in a closeout game. Second worst offensive scoring output by a Celtics team in the playoffs ever. Perkins doesn't close that gap at all, or much anyway. Kudos to Farmar, Odom and Brown off the bench. They played well and will need to bring it again in Game 7. But make no mistake about it, the Lakers will live and die by Kobe Bryant (duh). Quick game: Who is the Finals MVP after 6 games? I honestly don't have a clue as to who would be named if we had to vote right now, with the series tied.
Its Kobe win or lose No doubt about it. No other player on either team had back to back good games. Maybe Davis
Oh I know even with Perkins it wouldn't have made a huge difference because of the Lakers bench the fact is Perkins is a presence and a thorn in the Lakers side. Game 7 is the Lakers to lose IMO unless Pierce and Allen both go for 30 but that seems impossible because Lakers got Allen dialed in. Its really all on Pierce to win it for the C's. I agree with VMF its Kobe's regardless of what goes down. No one on the C's comes close their all so inconsistent.
Quick Question: What is the point of the NBA Finals format being 2-3-2? I've never understood it, and it looks at its worst right now.
Actually, I think this series redeems the format, to a degree. Both teams have won on the opposing team's court. But I DO think it is a terrible format. I like the 2-2-1-1-1 much moreso.
Me too. I think it's horrible. I still thought it was horrible after seeing Miami win all three middle games at home. It sucks to see such a close series, like this one, end with one team finishing the final two games at home.
The format was designed to mitigate the impact of the traveling. Having to fly across the country 4 times in a span of 2 weeks is a major headache for the players, media, etc. The Perkins loss hurts, but in no way does it end this series. He's a physical presence down low, but by no means would I call him an exceptional rebounder. He doesn't have the athletic ability to play the game above the rim, a necessary skill set if you want to be classified as such. The Celtics played tonight like a team that had a cushion (lead) in this series. The good news for Celtic fans (and Laker haters) is that whenever this team has put up performances such as the one tonight, they usually answer the bell during their next appearence on the court. Game 7 will be a war.
Sheed's a great defender. He's very physical, and with Gasol flopping and flailing like a fish out of water, its a concern. The Celtics are going to need him to log around 30 minutes and hit some shots. I'd like to think the refs will swallow their whistlles a bit more during a Game 7, considering the stars (Kobe, Pierce, etc.) will have to use steel chairs to foul out.
I think Artest already used that. This thing is over...unless Kobe wants to have the choker label make a comeback.
You know all that goodwill you built up with me over the course of the past few NBA postseasons? It just vanished. You bite your tongue. Seriously though. Its easy to say now, but the Celtics getting their *** kicked in every aspect of the game last night could very well prove to be a positive thing in the end. Maybe not, though. I could be delusional. Regardless, just win.
Scalabrine has been activated. I suspect he will be used to hack Laker bis and put them on the line. No word yet on if Bynum will play. I suspect he will suit up and try to give it a go, if nothing else. And yeah, Game 7's tend to be decided by the players moreso than the refs, but then again, I am not one of these guys who think that the refs controlled games 1-6 either. Anyone see Jeff Van Gundy's praising of Kobe before Game 6. He looked right into the camera and pretty much said that no basketball player has ever been more unjustly ripped by media members than Kobe Bryant and that it is pretty much unacceptable. Kind of surprising to take such a tall stand like that, but refreshing. TJ Simers, Skip Baless and others are all on the defensive today thinking that Gundy was talking about them. I suppose if they were offended, then he was. I also can't help but think that Van Gundy was trying to get his name in there in case Phil does leave L.A. Afterall, Kobe WILL be involved in whoever coaches the Lakers next. And awesomepicture of Nicholson clutching his throat while looking at the Celtics bench last night. Thing O' Beauty.
it is gonna take a Kobe meltdown. Hey...I have money coming to me if the C's pull this off...but it doesn't look good. I was actually fine with losing game 6...till the Axe Murderer (Perkins) was ruled out for game 7. That might have been the final nail. Now..excuse me while I work on my Kobe Bryant voodoo doll.
