If he plays well this year we should just use the franchise tag (assuming there still is one). That way we can get one more year out of him without having to do a long term deal. It's all about minimizing risk.

Ronnie will be 29 next year, 30 if we reach the playoffs. He probably has 2, or 3 at best, good years left before the RB wall hits and that's only if he doesn't get injured again.

I've loved Ronnie as a Dolphin, but I can't blame the FO for not giving him a long term deal.

If we sign him to a long term deal next offseason he'll turn 30 during the first season of said contract extension.

You do not sign 30 year old running backs to long term contracts, EVER.

I love Ronnie, he's my favorite player on this team next to Ricky Williams. Ive defended Brown multiple times over the years. But he does not deserve a long term deal, with one 1,000 yard season and the injury bug, freak or not. I also can't blame the trifecta for this. They've made some bone-headed moves like all teams do, but this isn't one of them.

    After next season, we'll talk.

Doubt it. I think the days of running backs going top 3, or even top 5 are gone.
