They didn't blow ****. They played the same as they did for the first three quarters. They lost because the Lakers shot 20 more FTs than them. BOS 23 17 17 22 79 LAL 14 20 19 30 83 The Celtics down the stretch were the same as the Celtics in the first three quarters. The refs just decided to call it much different in the fourth quarter than the first three quarters. I don't know how anyone can be surprised though. The league has been handing the Lakers gifts for a while now. Gasol shouldnt even be on that team.
I thought this was an interesting little statistic as well: 37 FT's for LA, 17 for Boston... and yet, LA shot 20 threes. So on 63 FG's they somehow shot 37 FT's. That's a joke. They let them play for 3 quarters, and then flipped the game on its head for the 4th.
The biggest cop out is *****ing about the refs. Lakers made thier shots at the end and the Celtics didnt. Celtics couldnt find anyone to make a shot. Both teams suck last night. Celtics couldnt get a rebound to save their life and Lakers couldnt hit a shot. Lakers won because of second chance opp (23 off rebound). If Perkin was there it would of been a different story. Also the Celtics in 4th looked gassed except for Rondo. Other then the 1st Qtr the Lakers scored more in every qtr. It was just ugly the way they did it.
Celtics made as many shots as the Lakers did. Lakers just shot 20 FTs in the 4th. Considering they shot 17 in the first three quarters, I would say that is concerning to say the least.
The Lakers did make their shots at the end -- from the free throw line. They matched, and exceeded, Boston's game total during the 4th quarter. That's shoddy officiating, at best. At worst, its criminal.

You can call a foul on almost every NBA possession. They certainly weren't fouls in the first three quarters of that game. Not sure what changed in the 4th quarter. The officiating wasn't consistent at all.
No all BS! and did you see all those rebounds the refs just HANDED the Lakers!! a travesty I'm telling you and that smothering fourth quarter D was like something out of the WWF you just know the Commish made a phone call!
How bout the fact the Celtics shot 19 fg the last 3 qtrs. That aint because Boston didnt want to shoot. Lakers defense didnt allow them to shoot. Also those stat line just look at how many offensive rebounds the lakers had down the strech. Like Pat Riley said you win the game by winning the rebounding battle.
Not a rumor, sheed really did want to talk to the refs after the game: http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=5300375
Boaton a physically aggressive style all game long, with Doc constantly telling his guys to be aggressive physical intiators. Whe. That's your approach it should be no surprise that you get into foul trouble by the fourth quarter, and that you have trouble suddenly stopping your approah because you're in penalty. The Celtics approach came back to haunt them by the end.
Boaton = Boston was That was a edge wracking series, btw. And let's not forget how many Lakers fans had the same complaints about unfair officiating after game 5.
You forgot to add the joke that Simmons had in there as well, as you took that directly from his diary. The Celtics were gassed, and they started hacking, badly. Kobe had no legs and started to put the ball on the floor and drive (finally), and to be honest, there were a TON of calls that the refs swallowed their whistles on. Both teams were in the penalty with less than half of the fourth quarter gone. Boston settled for jump shots, L.A. started to press forward, simple as that.
Also, as Bill Simmons pointed out, lets not forget that the Celtics pretty much curled into the fetal position for the last part of the third quarter and to start the fourth. They went about 6 minutes where they sat around doing absolutely nothing. The refs being blamed is an excuse. I have maintained throughout the playoffs that I don't like using the refs as a scapegoat. Ultimately, the players play and the coaches coach. It wasn't a pretty matchup, but it was exciting to watch and was very physical. I DO think that this hurts Kobe's aura, so to speak. But then again, I had forgotten that Michael Jordan missed 20 shots in his last NBA Finals game, so maybe not.
Thats pretty much how the entire game went. The teams were scoring 15-20 points a quarter, until the Lakers scored 30 in the fourth.
Not for nothing...but the Dodgers are playing the Red Sox IN Boston today. Anyone care to wager on how long the booing goes for during the top of the first inning?
This is pretty cool...Ice Cube did a Lakers Anthem... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVu-mxoNKQM"]YouTube- Lakers Anthem 2010 HD - Ice Cube, Ray J, Chino Xl, Roscoe Umali, Lil Rob, New Boyz, Dj Felli Fel[/ame]
Yeah, this came out right before the Finals. As far as team anthems go...I have heard way worse. Most of the times, these things are embarrasingly bad. And if Snoop tries to rep the Lakers after this win, I am gonna call BS and show him this picture. Cube would NEVER do this. This one too. Underneath the red jacket. Tsk Tsk.
My style is like Magic Johnson, yours is like Larry Bird Overrated Nerd. HAHAHA! Still awesome. Also, this is the beat from Beamer, Benz, or Bentley...in case anyone wants to hear the original song.
Why? Without Kobe, the Lakers don't make it to the Finals let alone a game 7. So Kobe had a poor shooting percentage in game 7, big deal. Name me one player in any sport that has never had a bad game That's the problem with "NBA fans" nowadays because they don't understand basketball. Shooting efficiently is not the only way to impact a game, only the boxscore. Kobe does the intangibles including playing great defense which no one can deny. And why should he thank the C's? Because they couldn't hit a shot? Well maybe the C's should thank Kobe for him being too caught up where he was forcing stuff instead of letting it flow otherwise it may have well been a blowout. I do believe you know your football down pat, but when it comes to bball, you're suspect. And again for you to say Wade is better than Kobe is.... Kobe may not be well-liked no doubt, but from a basketball skill-set, there's no one who has the complete package like Kobe does in the league right now. And unlike you, I wasn't wearing diapers during Jordan's run, I've watch MJ, Pippen, Isaiah, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Hakeem, Wade, Bron, Kobe(just to name a few) all in their primes and for you to just put Wade in front of Kobe like that suggests you've never played any bball on the physical level, at least with big boys. Maybe on xbox? In the 3 year run Kobe had dating back to 2008 in the Playoffs: 2008 30.1 ppg 5.7 rpg 5.6 apg 48fg% 30%3P 81%FT 58TS% 51eFG% 2009 30.2 ppg 5.3 rpg 5.5 apg 46fg% 35%3P 88%FT 56TS% 49eFG% 2010 29.2 ppg 6.0 rpg 5.5 apg 46fg% 37%3P 84%FT 57TS% 51eFG% 2x NBA Champion 2x NBA Finals MVP 1x NBA MVP 1x All Star Game MVP 3x All NBA First Team 3x All-Defensive First Team And please don't bring up the bs that Kobe had Gasol because yea, Pau is an All-Star but not a Hall of Famer. Now Jordan never won without Pippen who IS a Hall of Famer and top 50 player of all time and Magic Johnson never won a ring without none other than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Give credit where credit is due, but don't already put Wade on top of Kobe, especially when Wade is obviously inferior to Kobe in terms of outside shooting, mid range shooting, fadeaway shooting, post game, free throw shooting and on the ball defense. The only aspects where Kobe is inferior to Wade is finishing at the rim and his athleticism.
San Antonio, the city itself, is a small market, but Texas as a state is a large market, surely the Spurs are not just popular in San Antonio. The Spurs also have a following in Louisiana, since the Jazz left and the Hornets are still relatively new and aren't very good at the moment. Texas has THREE NBA teams, only California has more. Its considered a regional market, unlike a Milwaulkee or a Oklahoma City whose populations are relatively sparse, even compared to Detriot, which is still considered a large market even with its major problems. The NBA is clearly partial to big market teams. Its baffles me the Knicks haven't won anything of late, but you can't say they haven't had their chance to do so.
Two things: 1) The bold part is exactly what he was referring to I believe. 6-24 is horrible no matter how you like it. That and John Starks 2/18 performance were the two worst shooting performances Ive ever seen from one player in the finals. 2) According to what you posted earlier, Kobe did none of those things while Shaq was there or while Pau was there so he must not be as good as advertised. And for the record Pau is as good a PF as there is right now this side of Dirk and Bosh and one of the top 15 players in the game right now so it does hold merit. Kobe is the best player in the game in my opinion just a bit ahead of Lebron and Wade right now but hes not Jordan. Not even close.
he was interviewed right after the game by local TV reporter and straight out said he "sucked" and thanked his teammates for bailing him out
But can we stop this nonsense that he is at the level of Jordan or even the Greatest Laker of all-time?
What bothers me about kobe are the constant MJ impersonations. He even did the counting on the scorers table thing that Jordan made famous.
Told ya BKing, that is how the hype machine works in the NBA. They market "stars" Kobe just won a back to back title, even though he is wildly inconsistent, it doesn't matter, Jordan, "Dynasty' what have you there will be all sorts of bull**** pronounced in the coming weeks if one bothers to pay attention to it all.
