    :D

Exactly Sect, the Heat's problem in a nutshell is they had no reliable scoring option inside or outside, aside from Wade of course.

I'm not watching the draft at the moment. Anything surprising or Heat-related going on? A Beasley-Jones trade, perhaps?

I was told that Jordan Crawford was going to be our pick at 18 originally, but Riles confident enough he'd slide all the way to 32.

    There he goes...

    Those talks never occurred.

There is a deal that was offered and none of these ESPN hacks have the info.....

    I do though.

If it would have happened, the Heat would have been left with no firepower for a S&T.

    So stop loving it.

I'll come back later and share the info I got if I am allowed.

But yes, The Heat was offered a deal for Beasley and the Heat is apparently turning it down.

I hear it was a decent offer.

I may be in the minority, but unless it was a good offer I am not totally upset with keeping Beasley...

I like the pick. We need a young big. He'll have to slim down and lose the fat playing under a Riley ran team but I have faith in the kid to do it. He's already lost 100 lbs or so, I think.

Agreed with both of these posts, especially if we keep Beasley at the 4. A defensive center can take the pressure off Beasley on a team headlined by Wade/Max/Max.

    I can reveal the team...

Atlanta offered the Heat a deal they considered and turned down. it was NOT a cap relief deal. There was a player involved, I was not told who. I am told it was a real offer. Not an insult.

    (Joe Johnson S&T)?

Thanks Sec. Had to be a JJ S&T. If you're ready to puke, Orlando sources are reprting Magic is on verge of acquiring CP3 if they can find a3rd team to take Okafor.

That Pingalore guy who last reported the lbj/bosh/Wade thing is reporting it on local CBS

If they pull it off...what do they give up?

I also heard about the deal..I guess Jameer Nelson goes to the third team?

Might be hard to find someone to take on that contract. Depends on who else they get along with Okafor. If Jameer, I'd consider it.

    Riles hates fat people.

This guy will play at 270 if Riles gets his way. Remember that SHAQ himself dropped from 360 to 325 to play for Riley.

VC is also part of the deal. Horrible from NO side. Why take on another PG if they're getting Nelson?

And if salary relief is all they're looking for why aren't we on this ourselves? To get CP I'd happily take okafor

Padre..Varnado will go to Europe to beef up and learn for a year.

Butler will have a chance to be a rotation player. He is seasoned and skilled. Very similar to Quentin Richardson.

Pittman will be whipped and beaten into a rotation Big.

Last word for tonight on the draft....

. The Heat love Pittman..they EXPECT him to contribute. Tough, mean, space eater that plays to his size.

. Butler was a consensus 1st rounder till he tore his ACL...he cleared his medical and will recover nicely. This is a rehab year with his availability looking like December, February being the most likely time he will be ready. I LOVE the pick..he is skilled and will hit shots for us in the future. This was a MUST pick in the 2nd round.

. Varnado will be sent to season...is my guess. He was the best shot blocker in the draft, great energy player. Needs to work on his body.

. Williams (The D-league draftee) it is being reported (real GM).....has been traded to OKC.

Liked the Da'Sean Butler pick as he probably goes lottery pre-torn acl. High character player who could give a nice reward in a year or two. Thought the pittman pick has upside....

Really liking what Riley did tonight. Looks like we added good bench candidates when we're worried that going three max will kill the bench. It's not the ideal situation, but it helps.

    Come on, July 1.

That would be gold. I'd be happy with a solid bench, though.

Anyway, highlights from Riley's post-draft presser:

Doubt it was Joe Johnson. Probably Marvin Williams or even Mike Bibby.

Joe Johnson in all likelihood will be the first free agent signing (Chicago).

Pittman is sounding more and more like a Kendrick Perkins clone. If he turns out to be Kendrick Perkins or close to it (seems to have a better offensive game, not as good defensively... yet) then we got ourselves a hell of a steal. This guy is tough, tough, tough and very mean. His weight is NOT a concern to me. I think I read somewhere that he's already lost around 100 pounds. That shows his work ethic and hunger. He WILL slim down, and his weight is his biggest concern. Therefore I am not worried at all. Get Alonzo Mourning to work with this guy for a summer or two and he's starting at center next to Bosh/Amare by 2011.

Vernado is a guy I was hoping we'd grab with one of those mid-late second round picks. He's a pure shot blocker. Doesn't have much else to his game at the moment that stands out, but that quality alone will give him a solid chance to become a rotation for us in the future. Probably the best shot blocker in this draft outside of maybe Hassan Whiteside. He's Sean Williams good. Put him on the floor for 10-15 minutes and he's blocking a shot or two that will make an impact on the game.

Butler would have been a lottery pick if not for tearing his ACL - PERIOD. If he makes a full recovery he could potentially start for this team in the future. I'm confident that he will because we've got one of the best medical & training staffs in the NBA.
