Apparently the USA can't play well in 1st halves of extra time, just like in 1st halves of regular time. Better hope for penalty kicks, 2 goals would be a miracle.
Tough break guys, I think the US just ran out of steam at the end. The players gave such a huge effort in the 2nd half that they just had noting left in the tank when it came to extra time. I think that the US had some very good chances in the 2nd half and really should have won the game. But you guys should be proud of the effort those lads gave tonight. Ultimately the US did not have enough quality in front of goal, but deserve huge credit for the fight they put up.
Very impressed by Ghana. They are definitely a team to look out for going forward in this World Cup, and the future as well. My Dad's been telling me about them for a few years now (he watches more soccer than I do, although I'm starting to get more into it).
I think thats what we still lack. The superstar. We have built a good solid team but we still lack the goal scorers needed to really threaten. Hopefully we find one or two in the next four years
listen boys coulda woulda shoulda we werent good enough.....that is were it ends, congrats to ghana...4 years is a long time away...i plan to be there...
Bad luck guys. But you were outclassed by a better team. They kept the ball, they were fit, they passed and moved brilliantly and sat on the lead in the second half. You got back into it after a decent period of pressure but I think your limitations were exposed; good keeper, poor at the back, no real playmaker in midfield although Bradley does well when pushing on. But you're poor up top as well. Altidore has strength and power and pace but his touch is poor and he isn't a finisher. When Donovan isn't in the game as he was tonight, then you struggle. Bad luck though.
USA have come a long way since 94. Much better quality in passing the ball. They were horrible back then. Couldnt even pass the ball to each other. How many of the us players arent actually born in the us??
I'd be more concerned about the lack of pressure they were getting on the Ghanians in the first half. They couldn't live with them and that had nothing to do with the team he picked.
Very simple.... Bob Bradley lost them the game. He started Ricardo Clark..the same guy that got made a fool by gerrard, the same guy that was turned into a joke by Slovenia and got subbed for with Edu, who looked great... Against Algeria, Edu looks spectacular as a sub and what does Bradley do? he starts the one guy that has been terrible all along..... What does Ricky Clark do? Give up the ball in our end and give Ghana numbers to give them their first goal....(The goal was Howard's fault....the angle was closed and Howard had to fdefend the near post...he stayed neutral.......GOAL!) he then gets a Yellow card and has to be subbed for early....(BAD MISTAKE Bradley...BAD MISTAKE. TERRIBLE) Edu then predictably plays very well.... The US dominates the second half.... They equalize... In the extra time, they made us pay with the long ball. As a whole...The US outplayed Ghana..they converted their chances which were few...the US DID NOT convert their chances which were plentiful. Ghana is a clear favorite for 2014...They will get beat by Uruguay...Uruguay does not have defensive breakdowns although they did not look so hot today. Ghana did not impress today, but you can see what is coming down the road. Ghana will be a contender to be the team that gets sacrificed to Brazil in the Final in 2014. You can be proud, if you want...they failed miserably. Part manager..part talent.
No respect for Ghana, they played like a buch of cheap dirty animals and their fake injuries at the end were absolutely pathetic.
agreed, but the team is limited to begin with. as soon as edu came in the complexion of the match changed right away. its his responsibility to limit these things. edu can handle the ball. clark obviously cant. feilhaber can as well and he was left off the start
Simple...you cannot get outplayed that badly in one half and win....you can only hope to Draw...(against England)
Wow. Incredible. You can opt not to respect them all you want, but at the end of the day what does it matter? They handed it to you. How many people on here actually play soccer? I'm tired of hearing about Ghana "taking their sweet time" up 2-1 with 10-15 minutes to go. Guess what they were supposed to do?
I must not know anything about soccer, cause I didn't see a good U.S. team. don't know if it's lack of communication, skill, passion...money...who knows, but our game is lacking something..obviously.
