Kinda feel bad for Chile. They obviously went to school on brazil and had a brilliant plan. Couldn't stay mistake free. Now they get outplayed.
Boom, you watch any of the Christian Eriksen kid Arsene is attempting to purchase? 18 year old Denmark national player. A brilliant talent at a very young age. He's already first team at Ajax. Needs to get stronger, obviously, and polish up but great talent to work with.
The commentators I am watching thought it was offsides too. I just saw the play again and there was a chilean player in line with the brazilian player although slighly behind . So it was a legitimate goal if the ref says it was.
BTW, funniest line ever from this world cup..... My wife delivered it. I was watching Ivory Coast vs. Brazil.... They show a crowd scene and then flash quickly back to the action..and my wife remarks.. "How the hell did Ireland get so many black people on their team?" It took me a good 5 minutes to figure that one out.
BTW..so far...Ian Darke is the best commentator on ESPN and Efan Ekoku is the best color commentator. Although ian Darke makes me nervous.... "How are your nerves?" "This must be agonizing for those of you watching." YEAH I KNOW..stop reminding me before I jump off my roof.
Chile has an attractive style of football but they have trouble scoring goals .On the other hand Brazil always looks dangerous when they are close to the goaline.
Yeah I've seen a bit of him at Ajax and he was impressive the other night when he came on. Looks a real star in the making.
yeah, he made me feel even worse about our lack of conversions against ghana. darke seems to connect more with the american viewer than martin tyler, who is a bit more dry. ekoku is good, but repetitive. john harkes is awful
It was a legitimate goal because it was a legitimate goal and as you said the Chilean player was behind Fabiano. Thus, it was a goal.
Ian Darke? Really. Darke is a bit of a figure of fun over here. He's actually a boxing commentator and a very good one, but football? Haven't you got Martin Tyler working for ESPN?
We can see now why Brazil is the favorite to win it all .I dont see a better team that can beat them.
Yes. We have Martin Tyler. Ian Darke has done a bang up job with this world cup. he conveys the tension as good as any I have heard. Of course..my favorite is Andres Cantor. it is not even close. but english speaking? Ian Darke is right up there IMO with Al Michaels. The guy is great.
Tyler calls the action better.... But Ian Darke is more inline with the American style of sports announcing. he sets up his color guy perfectly. Even Harkes. Ian Darke with Ekoku has been a great combo.
Agreed. I pray Arsene is able to purchase him. Btw, you hear any legitimate talk about transfer possibilities for Arsenal? I've read everything but there's only so much you can believe when we're linked with just about every player.
Real Madrid have apparently just bought Angel Di Maria from Benfica who's playing left midfield for Argentina.
Mostly Ekoku #1 ESPN team is Tyler/Ekoku Andy Gray has not been on. These are the teams: http://www.worldcupbuzz.com/guide-to-espns-world-cup-commentators-co-commentators-and-pundits/
Not really. Hugo Lloris is the biggest. Simon Kjaer is another because Gallas is gone. A lot depends on Fabregas as well. But a new keeper and a new centre back are a must.
Pretty good player that still has room to grow IMO. I recall Arsenal coming close to purchasing Di Maria early last year but never went through.
I really love watching Chile play. They're better than this. They have the ability to control the midfield and attack very well; just obviously have an issue with finishing. I was hoping they'd win their group to see what they can do against Portugal... wouldn't even mind seeing them score a late goal here.
Yeah, figured Lloris would be high on the list. I wish Arsene would ask about Sakho once again but last year he asked and was told to buy, it would be a transfer fee of 25M. We're linked to Lorient, tall centre back, heavily, too. IMO they need to look at Blaise Matuidi again. Arsene's quoted as saying he doesn't want to spend more than 6M on a CM and I think Matuidi wouldn't go more than that. Maybe 8M but doubtful more. He's another quality prospect. Re: Keeper/CB - Yep. He wants two centrebacks, a midfielder as well as a keeper from what I know.
Yeah he was solid for Benfica but when they played us twice this year I came away thinking that he had a lot more to give before talent caught up with reputation.
I heard Dzeko is going to Juventus. I wanted him on AC Milan, especially after he proclaimed to be a life long Milan fan. Eop, you should be happy about this no?
Wish Dzeko went to AC. I prefer them over Juventus, no offense. He's one of our leaders in Bosna, along with Pjanic who I really like.
He may need to buy a left back if Clichy ends up at Madrid. Personally I think Ashley Cole should go to Real as he has nothing left to prove in England and his personal life is a bit of a mess. I think Arsenal fancy the kid who played alongside Vermaalen at Ajax. I think Fabregas will end up going so it may be that you get a centre back in return. Caceres or the Ukranian kid who is very highly rated may get thrown in. Question is, if they DO buy Fabregas, how do you keep Busquets, Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Juan Mata, David Villa, Ibrahimovic and Messi happy?
I don't think he'll allow Clichy to leave. He better not, even though he's still high on Kieran Gibbs from what I hear and Gibbs has played everything for us. Arsene still does fancy Vermaelens Ajax partner, he tried to swoop in for the both of them when he was purchasing Vermaelen. He also likes Affelay, the Dutch playmaker. He's been high on him for at least a year from what I know but I'm sure it dates back longer. Agreed on possibly getting a guy back. As for Barca, I have no clue. Seems like they are trying to battle it out with Real Madrid for the most stars.
Of course transfer rumours are worse than anything even this regime can come up with. Everything must be taken with a grain of salt.
