David Lee meeting with Minny, Miami, NJ, and Chicago this week.
Lebron meeting with Cleveland on Saturday and supposedly wants to make a decision by July 5th

AT the same stage of their careers Beasley is better than Garnett, Barkley, Stoudemire..etc...

We also have a Future Lotto pick from Toronto.

SO yes..we blow that offer out of the water.

You know as well as I do that ESPN wants the Knicks to succeed so bad it leaves burn marks in their pants. This is the network that's been talking up LeBron to the Knicks for two years. (It wasn't just SAS: everyone working there treated that particular transaction as a done deal well in advance.)

And did you watch the ESPN free agency "summit?" They were all over the Knicks getting a free agent class worthy of a playoff run: Amare and Joe Johnson by consensus.

Seriously, Boik, it's tough for you to make a case that the ultimate New York homer sports network is somehow biased against the Knicks. Just because they don't think the Knicks can trade Curry's contract and Gallinari for Carmelo Anthony doesn't mean they aren't fans of the blue underwear.

I don't think ESPN cares one way or another, but they're certainly not going to ignore a market that has 20 million people. They'll talk about the Knicks any chance they get.

It's not just talking about the Knicks, it's presenting the Knicks in a way that has every relation to blind fandom and no relation to reality.

Sort of like how they talk about the Yankees.

Of course. How else to get 20M people to tune into ESPN? If they came out and said "knicks will prob get nothing", you think those NY fans will tune in anymore?

monopoly, n. def: A situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. By definition, monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition - which often results in high prices and inferior products.

What else are they going to watch?

If they want to watch something about sports rather than a specific sporting event, it's ESPN or nothing.

LOL only if you actually Beasley has characteristics about his game that are similar to those players. Forgetting the fact I am a Knicks fan for a second, I just dont see it. The biggest chips you guys could use are a 16M trade exception and that first rounder.

Either way neither deal is going to happen in my opinion so IM not that worried about it.

ESPN didnt report the Carmelo rumor, CNNSI did. Second of all, of course espn talks up New York, its a huge market. But the actual basketball reporters have been crapping on us for the past 6 months. Its not about who we were going to get; they basically asked why anyone would come here. Like there's really an explanation needed? Cap space + some roster talent + huge market.

NBA TV >>>>>>ESPN for basketball coverage

I realize that. Who reported the rumor isn't the point. I'm saying that just because they don't echo similar future planning scenarios as the general fanbase or you in specific doesn't mean they aren't pulling for the franchise to win championships every year through infinity. They're New Yorkers. They want New York teams to succeed. Their wet dreams consist of covering a Jets-Giants Super Bowl in the same year as a Knicks-Lakers Finals (with the Knicks winning) concluded by a Mets-Yankees World Series in the autumn.

They're not supposed to talk "up" a big market. Talk "about" a market, yes. Talk it up, no. This isn't some ho-hum tendency we're talking about here.

I think you need to (re)watch their free agency summit. Under their scenario, the Knicks would be the 2005 Phoenix Suns minus Steve Nash.

Also, if the Michael Redd to Cleveland rumors are true, then that will help bigtime with re-signing LeBron. Redd is one of the better guys to pair up with James.

That move is not a personnel move. it is a cost cutting cap move to move out contracts to be able to "fix" their situation for next offseason.

    Redd is D.O.N.E

    No ****ing way.

No way that VC finds YET ANOTHER buyer. Unless of course, it is Rashard Lewis in the deal. (Remember that you have to trade value for value if you are over the cap)
