Just FYI: the verb form of Twitter is tweet, not "twitters." So, Chris Bosh tweeted.

I'd say either Wade gave the presentation or, like FinNasty said, we already gave Bosh the presentation a week ago.

If you look at my original post on the subject, I never mentioned the Heat. The Heat already have a good team in a good market. Right now in NY, you have 20M people who really have no interest in their local team. Its not about Miami vs. NY, because the Miami market is already interested. I'm sure the NBA would rather have a great team in Miami and a great team in NYC, as opposed to a really great team in Miami, and garbage in NYC.

The problem is that you were replying to a post that DID mention the Heat. Namely, mine.

The Bucks have absolutely nothing to do with whether or not a Miami Heat team featuring Wade, LeBron, and Bosh would be a bigger deal and ratings draw than a playoff-bound Knicks squad, which is primarily why padre's return to the Bucks reference was irrelevant to the topic at hand, and also why your bringing up the Bucks in the first place was pointless. No one's arguing about the relative appeal of what the Bucks could/will do in 2010-11 to what the Knicks could/will do in 2010-11. At least, I'm not. I never once presented the topic in those terms, and your bringing up the Bucks does nothing to address the point I made.

A team that looks like a potential dynasty is always a bigger deal than an inferior team that just happens to play in a big market.

All I said was the NBA would prefer to have a good team in NY, than not have a good team. The Miami Heat already have their market locked down. How many casual fans will they bring in for a finals game? 3 million? 5 million? The NYK will make $10M just off ticket revenues for a finals game. They'll likely bring in 5 million additional viewers easily.

A Knicks team with LeBron and Paul against a Heat team with Wade and Bosh would instantly be the best rivalry the league has seen since Bulls-Knicks.

And I said the best thing for the NBA would be a clash of the titans. New York is irrelevant in that scenario. The two titans don't have to be New York and someone else. No one is going to watch an NBA Finals consisting of the Kobe-led Lakers on one side and the Wade/LeBron/Bosh Heat on the other side and think "Man, I wish I was watching a Knicks game."

Man, if we can get that commitment today from Bosh/D-Wade, and have them go with riley and Arison to Akron tomorrow, I think they make it happen.

There would be 20million people wishing that.

The best scenario is a clash of the titans, as well as the Knicks being a playoff team. Thats $100M of ticket revenue if the Knicks are in the playoffs.

An effect which wouldn't show up in the massively increased television ratings for that particular NBA Finals.

Interesting email I got from source when I sent him a series of questions about role players and contract values.
    .....

He did call that ridiculous contract for Gooden and I didn't post it here, because I thought he was crazy. LOL

But He tells me that The heat will obviously push a longterm committment for all the free Agents..but that it will be telling to see the contracts the Big stars sign.

he says that under this CURRENT CBA...they would all be smart to sign 3 year deals with a player Op for a 4th. Signing a 6 year deal NOW (if the current CBA holds up..(not likely) would have these guys leaving almost 50 million on the table..provided that they all play till 35 years old.

Side Note: My guy says Mike Miller's price tag is 36 Million for 5.

    So in short...

all of these guys sign 6 year deals....then a lock out is likely.

A lockout or a work stoppage? Difference there.

I expect most of the contracts will be in the 5- or 6- year range, since both players and agents prefer to cash in now rather than later.

How many viewers are you expecting? 22M?

What about the first 3 rounds, where the Heat are just sweeping everyone?

I'd expect much better than this year's Finals.

ABC had over 28 million viewers for Game 7. I'd say the Lakers and a Wade/LeBron/Bosh Finals matchup would go well over 30m, which would set a recent record. LeBron is a major star. Wade is a known commodity. Kobe is proven. Pat Riley is Pat Riley. The Lakers are the kings of the NBA. The Heat is a major franchise. That matchup would draw insane ratings.

Remember, just going by championship series ratings, the NBA is more popular than MLB. A dynastic rivalry between the Lakers and Heat would cement that "second only to the NFL" status for a long time.

Ira keeps updating the story. Latest interesting twist.

Mickey has joined the travelling the party and counterintuitively, the Heat is trying to get in to see LeBron today rather than tomorrow. They are apparently unconcerned about going last.

Do we have commitments from Bosh/Wade ready to go? Are we going to try to peer pressure LBJ into this thing? Was Sheridan's tweet (that's for you Des) on the money but not for publication?

Very interesting. Espescially considering the Bulls fans are off their rocker that the Bulls are going last.

I agree. If we can get Bosh to commit today it makes sense to try and get to LBJ now and tell him that we are ready to go, we just need you to make this work, etc.

Forgot to mention that Ira reported that Zo has joined the travelling circus as well.

I think we are making one, all out effort for LBJ and if it doesn't work, we're not waiting around.

The tl;dr answer is yes. The long answer is maybe, since LeBron seems to be hesitant about his leaving Cleveland being seen as a betrayal.

Well its a good thing Zo has joined the travelling party, because the Heat needed someone to compete with Jay-Z and the Knicks.... Are you kidding me? Jay-Z (yes i know he's an owner)....seriously.....suprised they didnt get CC sabathia to help corner him in a room soo he couldnt leave without signing.

I think the addition of Zo is kind of interesting. Players value how an organization treats it's aged stars. I mentioned that in the JT and ZT threads, but some denied that it mattered. It's clear, however, that it's part of what Wade has been talking about during his recruiting.

Zo is the best embodiment of the riley/Heat culture. He's a true believer and very well respected around the league. I think the pitch is "Join us and put your faith in this man"

IMO Lakers vs. Wade/Lebron/Bosh would trump Lakers vs a bunch of good but not great teams in Miami, NY, Orlando, Cleveland, etc. Two dynastic type teams is the best scenario for the NBA regardless of whether it's located in NY or not.

I agree that's part of it, but Wade specifically talked about how Miami was a superior franchise to Chicago b/c of how they treated their ex-stars. When you have players that know they're going to make the money anyways, then money isn't an issue. The main issue is the championship, of course, but when you're a star who realizes that one day you'll be an ex-star, that second part matters.

just so you know, i am in full support of ZO joining the circus(hell get dan marlje on that train too!). However, i was making fun of what JayZ could possibly bring to the table..

Do the knicks also have Van gundy on the line, just in case they need someone to hang on Lebron's leg as he tries to exit the building.

I would think that Miami with Wade/Bosh Chicago with Lebron/Rose and NY with LeBron/Paul would all be great, not just good teams. Certainly talented enough to beat LA.

If Wade/Lebron/Bosh all end up on the same team, you can pretty much rule out anyone caring about the NBA until the Finals. They'd sweep the east playoffs, and probably beat the Lakers in 5/6 games.
