No hate here on my end PhiN. Never had any problems with Cavs fans. To be honest, if he does leave, I'll feel bad for the fans in Ohio. Let's face it, they've been through a lot of crap in the sports world. But it is what it is.

Maybe it's just the skeptic in me, but despite all the rumors swirling, I really don't think he's going to leave.

I have said that I thought Lebron would most likely stay in Cleveland b/c he didn't want to be the hated guy. It seems now that Miami is the favorite. And I have to say that if Lebron does come to Miami than he has more courage than I gave him credit for. IMO it would have been much easier to simply return to Cleveland. It's home and he'd be lauded by most for doing that, but he'd probably never win. By going to Miami, he has the city of Cleveland who'll automatically hate him. (I wonder if LBJ ever consulted Modell on whether he felt he made the right decision). The Heat will automatically be the new 'evil empire' for the fans of every other NBA team. People (more people) will be saying how Miami will never win and openly rooting against them. The fans of Chicago, NY and NJ will hold special hate for Lebron (and Miami) b/c he turned them down not for more money b/c people understand that but for less money. I also think it puts a huge bullseye on LBJ and Bosh b/c if they can't win here then it's their fault since Wade already has a ring. In the end I think it takes much more courage to do something you know the largest number of people will criticize and will automatically make you the target. And the only way LBJ can (eventually) prove he made the right decision is by winning championships.

Also while I can't say I think that the 1 hour decision show was a great idea, I wonder if Lebron's thinking was that he wanted to do the opposite of what Modell did. Instead of being the guy who snuck out in the middle of the night, he wanted to be the guy who told everybody upfront. I sort of expect at last a half hour of this show to be about why he loves and will always love Cleveland. And if he does leave it will give him the opportunity to explain why just one time.

As opposed to the repercussions of staying? Please.

Nonsensical self-justification to start bashing LeBron.

    Same. Totally freaking irrelevant.

El oh el. Yeah freaking right.

    Not a big loss.

This is the crux of the problem: organizational incompetence. They never had a contingency plan in case LeBron actually left? Incompetence on a grand scale. You ALWAYS plan out every scenario and have a plan of action ready to go. Always.

File those tampering charges, Danny. Bring it on.

You hear that, Stringer Bell? How about you, Stitches? :shifty:

Michael Jordan is laughing his *** off right now.

Woah, Cleveland may have stumbled on a game changer here. I'm getting nervous, real nervous

Sources: Cavs are in trade talks with Minnesota Timberwolves for PG Jonny Flynn. Flynn is represented by #LeBron's agent & LRMR.

No hate for Cleveland here, just mockery of the whole "beware the wrath of northeast Ohio" stuff. This would be like warning Kevin Garnett to beware the wrath of Minnesota before leaving for Boston. It's just so irrelevant.

IF the three of them take $12-13M contracts...that'll still leave about $15-19M for extra players...wow.

Players pay state taxes for the income they earn when they play on the road. So the florida/texas tax savings is not as much as you think. Where it really makes a difference is in the nfl because of the large signing bonus players sign.

I always said that the Cavs would need Stern to help make that trade.

I love how people think someone can win a title single-handedly. Jordan was 1-9 in the playoffs before he had Pippen. Kobe was struggling to get out of the first round before he got Gasol. In the end, its always a team game. You need a star, but that star always needs help.

Except the nature of the description implies that David Stern isn't helping out anyway. So, I'm right. :wink2:

Exactly. And Kobe had Shaq, too. One man can't win in this league. You need a star, a sidekick, and competent support.

    Okay...got some more information.

Part of the reason why a Sign and Trade is so attractive in acquiring Chris Bosh (and further evidence of the incompetence and stupidity of Bill Simmons) is that the Heat will not have to renounce the rights to their own players..and will be able to use Bird Ridhts on TWO players.

    The TWO PLAYERS?

    Udonis Haslem and Dorell Wright.

Say hello to TWO very good bench pieces.

    HAH...**** you NBA.

How could anybody outside of the 3 know this? At this point, I don't think Wade/LBJ/Bosh would blurt this out to anybody...even people in their inner circle. Ughhh is it 9 yet?

Imagine what the situation would be like if LBJ wasn't drafted by Cleveland. The whole nonsense of abandoning his hometown wouldn't be a factor, and I think that is what is upsetting many people.

Bosh would not have signed with Miami if he knew LeBron was staying in Cleveland...Bosh could have/would have signed with Cleveland if Lebron was staying there, so NYC, Cleveland, New Jersey, and Chicago, quit quivering your bottom lip. King James is not coming...he is going to Miami.

I don't think people hate Cleveland, but I do think they are coming off as whiners. The arguments being pushed by Cleveland remind me of a girl that's being dumped and handling it poorly.

    - "but you said you loved me"

    - "you have no idea how much this is going to hurt me"

    - "I'll never be okay again"

    - "You've changed"

    - "you always had problems but I put up with them"

    - "you were never that great anyways"

    - "the problems we had are really your fault, I did everything you wanted"

It's difficult to have a lot of respect for that. IMO it's fairly obvious that the best basketball place for Lebron is outside of Cleveland. The arguments for him staying are not about what's best for him but rather all about what's best for Cleveland. And I get that there's value in loyalty and community, but if winning really is the goal then leaving makes sense. And personally I would have understood if Wade left for Chicago to spend more time with his kids. You only have one chance to watch them grow up and it's reasonable to believe they need both parents close by. But IMO that connection is far more alluring than the hometown connection.

I don't agree. I think Bosh wanted to play with either LBJ or Wade, but he definitely didn't want to play in Cleveland. My understanding was that Bosh liked Miami and NY but preferred Chicago He chose Miami when Wade said he would be staying there.

That is huge and completely eliminates any chance to argue that Chicago is in a better position to win now.

    Wade > Rose
    LBJ=LBJ
    Bosh>Boozer
    Haslem=Noah

I could buy the argument that Noah is slightly better than Haslem, but that difference is small at best. All Miami really needs is to find one or two shooters. I'm imagining either a vet willing to play for the minimum or a guy like Kapono was for us whom nobody had heard of but could hit open shots when the stars drew the D.

While I don't think so is there anyway to make a tampering charge stick in this case? Riley has been quiet and seems to have avoided direct contact and at this point wade, bron and bosh can all talk because they are all FA's till they sign. Also if this does happen(still won't believe it till he says it) is this the biggest smokescreen ever? I mean last week we really thought(some of us anyway) Wade might leave for chicago.

F*ck Bill Simmons.. That is it. After the press conference today I WILL NEVER WATCH ESPN unless a Miami Dolphins football game is on. I will NEVER visit espn.com and will transfer over to CNNSI or the The Sporting News.. ESPN has become a tabloid journal, and I hold their biased reporters in the same light that I hold the National Enquirer or TMZ.

I am going to send a very nice email to Simmons.. He essentially put out a hit piece on my town.

Holy crap, a team led by Wade, Beasley and Jermaine O'Neal is just as good as Lebron, Wade and Bosh?
Someone needs to pop this clown in the mouth.

This guy may be the biggest tool.. If Lebron comes to Miami he is stabbing Cleveland in the back.. But instead he should have went to Chicago and will win 6 titles there but can't win 50 games with Wade and Bosh?

Simmons is a douchebag. I hope he jumps off the Brooklyn bridge when Lebron makes his announcement.

Ford and Stein on proposed 4 team trade which would send Beasley to Charlotte and bring the Heat back cap space.

Also confirms that LBJ, Bosh and Wade would only need to take a haircut of about $1 mill per year under the new cap, which when factoring the cap savings amounts to almost nothing. If LBJ can really pull the trigger, this is happening and we keep Beas.

    Hmmmm

Source told FOXSports.com Miami Heat have offered Mike Miller 5-year deal worth 27-30 million with a deadline tonight. Tweet from Jeff Goodman.

    And double hmmmmmmmm

Miller has been told by Miami that the team is "confident" LeBron is coming. Miller could likely earn more money with New York Knicks.

Works out toa round $5 mill per year but the 1st year salary could be alot lower based on raises. If this is accurate, we've already worked out numbers with the Big 3 and they are all taking at most the $15.5. This may alos mean we have a Beasley trade for space and wnat to just slot Miller into that same salary base.

The Big 3 with Miller as your 6th man? Sign me the "f" up!!!

That's what I've found funny. The same people saying LeBron would be a douche for going to Miami are the people saying he should go to Chicago. Ironic enough, the same people that say Lebron/Wade need the ball in their hands have no problem with those guys joining a Derrick Rose lead Bulls team. Talk about a guy that needs the ball. I don't envision Rose turning into Rajon Rondo overnight.

I already heard a guy call into 560 down here (with a thick New York accent) claiming that Wade/Bosh/LeBron will not guarantee a title. Yeah, ok. That's like saying the Atomic Bomb didn't guarantee the end of WWII.

Beasley has obviously been traded if we're willing to put $5-6 million down on Mike Miller before LeBron James' decision.

BTW, if it hasn't been posted yet - 6-years / $55 million for Brendan Haywood to stay in Dallas. Thank God we didn't match that.

Yep, could be as simple as a Minny S&T. Kahn admitted they wanted Beasley during the draft and that riley turned the deal down.
