TiCats v Stamps was another great game, it came down to the last play of the game. Just waiting for BC v Riders tonight.
Opening Game of the new Empire Field, home of the BC Lions, game doesn't start until 10pm EST: http://www.atdhe.net/index.html Riders just hung 55 pts on defending Grey cup champion Alouettes, the Lions new defense with help from Rich Stubler shut down the Edmonton Eskimos. Should be fun.
Yay, Riders head to 2-0. Loved the last scoring drive where they just kept pounding it on the ground, Cates and Charles were a nice little duo. Hawkins getting it done.
BC got walloped, eh, 5 newbie CFL starters on the Oline, did think the Defence played well enough, but the Oline/OC/Oline Coach shouldn't cash their paychecks this week as it would be daylight robbery.
Robertson ran wild week one and had a run or two in the second half, but for the most part he was held in check. Any news on Printers? Last game of the week.
No news on Printers as of yet. The Riders just took a page from the Jests playbook and just blitzed every down, the Oline couldn't deal with it and that made Robertson not much of a factor. Toss in 16 penalties and the Leos were clearly out of their game. Next up for BC...Montreal, I suspect we will shuffle the Oline a bit and hopefully get Keron Williams back for that game.
Riders have EE next week, wish game was later in the day, might have to cut my tanning time short. I like watching Ray play, but my boy Durant will come away with the win. I hope...
heh Yeah, they were dominating them. Pretty surprised with that comeback but dolfan32323 should be happy. Stamps probably won't sleep well tonight.
' Argos v Stamps this evening: http://www.atdhe.net/index.html Cleo Lemon is still on his CFLer learning curve, but the season is looong the CFL.
I've enjoyed it so far, it's real football in July. Hardest things for me to get used to were three downs and the movement on offense before the snap, other than that it's not like Arena Football where it's vastly different. A lot of good players making some spectacular plays. First week there was a catch that was about as good as you'll ever see, running backs making really good moves, and some really electric returners.
Put it this way, it's the CFL...or the ESPY's... Ricky foley has a new segment up in the NFLN "On the Fringe" series, and I'm not sure what they put in the water in BC, but his speed rush looks very much like..Cam Wake's..not speed wise, but the technique..Foley could stick in Seattle as he can rush the passer and play ST.
Darn good game, the Boatmen pulled one out against a undefeated team. This was the same team that had a 7 game losing streak coming into the season. And most shockingly, Cleo Lemon may have found a home in the CFL.
Yeah another good game tonight. It's weird to hear them call Lemon a rookie and young, even though he is a rookie in CFL. Next three games should all be good, especially looking forward to the last game since I pull for Saskatchewan and have really liked watching Ricky Ray play. Also will be watching to see if Marcus Thigpen can keep putting it in the endzone as a returner.
BC faces the Alou's, with the youngest Defense in the CFL and with the youngest line in the CFL. i'd love to watch that game this Friday but that EST/PST means kickoff isn't until 10pm.
Replay? I suspect the Alou's look at that young BC defense like grandpa looked at the Thanksgiving turkey right before he sliced it up for dinner.. 'the Peg v tiCats is the first game: http://www.atdhe.net/index.html Apparently NFLN has done well with their CFL broadcasts as the CFL Comish Cohon mentioned NFLN is going to promote the games more heavily, two featuring the solid, but boring Edmonton Esks...
Hammer your kitties didn't look too bad. Think I might have to end up catching the replay of the Lions game tomorrow myself. Oh, go Roughriders.
CFL is on NFLN today with the Riders facing the Eskimos: http://www.atdhe.net/index.html My Leos travel to Toronto this week in a "must win" situation vs a resurgent Argos team, 1-3 is a steep hill to climb.
Well Saskatchewan's offense seemed out of sync most of the game but had a few good plays and were given those two fumbles. I said after Edmonton's game last week that Stamps wouldn't sleep well, can't imagine he'll sleep great tonight either. 3-0 for Darian Durant and the Roughriders.
Hmm..I thought BC crossed over and took their playoff slot with a 8-10 record? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_CFL_season#Playoff_bracket Realistically though, a sub .500 team is not going to make much noise, BC ambushing the TiCats last yr aside.. And I'm looking forwards to the September Air Drop..
BC crossed over last year like padre said and played Hamilton. Don't you remember this? http://www.cfl.ca/video/index/id/9811
That's just not nice. I didn't know six teams made the playoffs, devalues the regular season a little, I would think four would be ok. Have top two from each side play, then the Grey Cup. Four would be 50% of the teams, NFL around 38% of the teams make it to the playoffs.
Extra round in the playoffs, which imho is a reward for fans. Funny thing is, as great as those BC teams were with Cameron Wake on them, they never made the Grey Cup game something that bothered Wake greatly. In September, CFL rosters have turnover as the NFL cuts player the CFL is there to offer them j-o-b-s, it's known as "The September Air Drop (of talent)".
Ah, football nirvana is almost upon us, CFL games on Friday nights (which really give something to look forward to) and Dolphins Camp about to open with the host of blog posts and live reporting via fellow forumites. The CFL games on Friday nights, and Dolphins preseason games on Sat/Sunday evenings. Il Dulche Vida..baby!
Now this move makes sense: Ex Penn State Qb, he has the sort of athleticism and skill set to really do well in the CFL..if he makes it, several Big Time NCAA Qb's washout in the CFL.
CFL DPOY John Chick in Indy: http://www.indystar.com/article/20100712/SPORTS03/7120313/1100 Interesting player, he won the CFL DPY after Cam Wake left the CFL, he has a different style than Wake, his game is based on leverage and he is rather good at using his height and reach to get into the backfield. I hope he has an impact as it would further show that CFL talent is NFL quality at the top level of the league. TBH, I wanted Miami to sign John Chick (whose cash bonus was second only to Cam Wake's for a CFL to NFL move) or Ricky Foley, who could have been a situational passrusher and Special Teamer.
Alou's flexed their game on the TiCats..and it weren't pretty... Between the Ticats and the Esks, I cannot decide which team is more infected with softness..
In other games Edmonton looked alright, even really good at times, but they got thumped tonight. My Roughriders get their first loss; they can redeem themselves next week against the kitty cats.
