Just a heads up, Directv has started billing the renewal for the Sunday ticket this month (July). For the renewal, it's 6 payments of 49.99, (300.00). I don't know about the Superfan package.

Just a heads up about the new prices for the 2010 season.

Threaten to leave, and you will get a discount. I've never done it, just by what other people have said

I still don't understand why the NFL will not offer a streaming service from their official website that would let you stream the team of you choice. $300 is just too damn expensive.

It's a monopoly. They can do anything they want.

I've had ST for years now and I'm locked in @ $150.00. All I have to do is call in each year when I get my first bill they look at their log and make the adjustment. They even threw in Starrz for me this year for 6 months last few years it was Showtime. Kill them with kindness is what I did from the beginning and they have honored it every year since.

That's if you are past your contract terms it's very powerful. Ask for it for free, then ask for retention when they don't give it to you. Keep trying until you get a CSR who will give it to you.

I just called Directv about my Sunday Ticket. I've had it for a few years, so it always auto renews. Anyway, they said Superfan is included now. They were also billing me the $50 a month for it. I asked about the Early Bird Special on it, and she said she could give me that. So, I get $20 off a month, making it $30 a month. I want to know why auto renewals don't automatically get the early bird special?!!

I dropped it in 2001 when I couldn't watch the Dolphins PLAYOFF GAME because it was blacked out. I lived in Palm City then, about 120 miles north of Miami. I would have had to drive to Orlando to get out of the blackout area.

Yeppers, you can always get a discount when you ask. I've always gotten a discount, I just asked them and was always nice about it.

I'm going to call them in the next couple of days and see what they will offer me.

I just saw it on my bill this month. I'm thinking about doing the HD package. Does anyone know how much more that costs and if they are willing to drop the price if you haggle with them?

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

May have to make the switch back to DirecTV... ...if they can make it worth my while. Cancelled with them over two years ago because they wouldn't upgrade me to HD and DVR service for free despite being with them for 6 years in good standing...

Keep getting letters that they want me back, guess I should give them the opportunity. ;)

lol just called and they said renewal early bird is 49.99 a month and 1st payment was charged this month I responded "I am not paying that much so please cancel and refund the first payment"...without hesitation the operator states "what if we charged you 29.99 a month for the 6 months and you paid 180 instead of 300?" and I said fine and she made the change...
Thanks again for the heads up...

300 bucks is fine by me. You pay how much for a primetime fight? I live in DC. We get _NO_ Dolphins games. 300 bucks well spent. Any other Dolphins fans or outside the area fans are welcome to come too. They bring beer and snacks so I don't have to. Pays for itself! Bout time Superfan was free too!

Don't get too attached to DirectTV if you're just with them for the Sunday Ticket. The contract comes up in 2012 and Verizon will have probably completed its buildup of the FiOS network by then. They're going to make a big push to acquire it and will probably cut ties with DTV in the process. Or so the rumor goes.

In cace you're wondering, I'm an account manager for a small marketing firm that works with Verizon on its FiOS network, so I hear bits and pieces every now and then.

Sunday Ticket runs through the regular season. Your local station blacked out that playoff game.

Huh. Just my luck. I told them to cancel it and they said okay.

I really wanted them to cancel it though because although I'd had continuous service since 1996, it kept going up and up for me while there were about 7+ Dolphins games being shown in my area anyway. The remainder I'll just listen on the radio.

I just called and had it reduced to 180...had to haggle just a lil bit but not much.

The guy said they could reduce it by 5 bucks a month, I said thanks but not thanks.
Then he asked "well what about 10 less a month?" I said, well, that's a little better I guess, how much would that...and then he interrupted and said "we can knock off 20 a month for you"

    nice

WOW, thanks guys! Just got them down to $60 for the season.

Based on a $20 discount each month for 12 Months. Flat out told me the standard discount + an additional 6 months.

And at the end of the call told me to always call if I ever have any issues or problems with the cost of my bill as they want to keep us & help us out! WOW

    THANKS AGAIN!

I signed up last year. Then after adding the Ticket, had my girlfriend call up pissed off that we pay for HD, we pay for NFL, but we don't have HD NFL. She escalated it and we got our Superfan.

Superfan is great because you can watch games on computer and iphone/smartphone anywhere. the iphone service is a bit buggy but still. Catching the dolphins game driving down from SF to San Diego (funeral) was great.

    I got the 180.00 deal also:up:

I think it was last year that they had the NFL teams remote control. They were selling them for 30.00, but I asked them if they could do better and the guy told me that if I bought one, he would give me a 20.00 credit. I trusted the guy and went ahead and bought one and I pretty much got it for 10.00:up:

Just be nice when you ask and they will help you out as much as they can.

    Cheers:up:

Did you guys order over the phone or go to an AT&T store and haggle with them in person?

What is the normal price? I see a lot of people saying they got it for $180 - how much of a discount does that represent?

If you are looking for a way to talk your significant other into getting the Sunday Ticket do what I did - come home WASTED from the bar every Sunday so she has no choice but getting the dish to keep you productive. Worked like a charm.

There's a Sunday Ticket iPhone app that you d/l. You can watch on your iPhone, or log into the website and watch on your computer. It's pretty good.

There is a cost for that, on top of the $300 (reduced to $180) fee. I believe they are calling it the "to go package" now and it's $9.99 per month (for the six month installment payout). I had it last year because it was included in the $99 Superfan package (which is now included in the $300 package). Confused yet? But the Iphone does work, it's pretty good quality too, a little laggy at times, but if you're on the road stuck somewhere without your TV and you need to watch the game, it's fairly decent.

The $9.99 monthly fee for the "to go" is separate from the $300 Sunday ticket base fee (HD is included in the $300, if you already have everything else from DTV to watch games in HD, IE HD receiver, HD Satellite).

Not sure why you are having problems with the App.. but I would wait until closer to the season to worry about it as there will be nothing to view on the app until the regular season starts anyway.

So even if I hve the 300 dollar package mow it has nothing to do with the mobile watching thing? That's completely separate? Cuz I heard they combined last yrs packages into one which is what is offered now.

yeah...mobile viewing is $10 a month. I called and asked them. I also asked if that had auto-renewed for this year, and they said yes. I was like, " My FREE service from last year auto-renewed, with NO NOTICE, this year for $10 a month?!! CANCEL THIS!!" So they did. LOL

Don't let one little instance deter you. I've had Sunday Ticket since the first year it came out, called them up 15 minutes ago and there was no problem getting the reduction. She even called it a promotion, just have to set-up auto renewal next year, now.

As far as the "to-go" program for iPhones and laptops, it is 10 bucks extra a month, regardless of what you are paying for your Sunday ticket package (180 or 300.00). I was really excited about having it on my iPhone, but I'll wait until I'm stuck somewhere with no access to my TV during a game, because you can activate that option at anytime from your iPhone with DirectTV app.
