Can't have Kinect without Kin. $150 is far too expensive. Historically, console add-ons do not succeed. Of course, that train of thought comes from Sega's add-on Genesis failures, but you still have to wonder who wants to spend another $150 in hardware to go with a console they paid $400 for. Playstation Move might wind up being the better bargain.
But the move requires that controller, the ball, and the Playstation Eye... I imagine that with a game that comes out to be the same. Mean while for just over the cost of Kinnect ADD-ON, you can get an Entire Wii console with Wii Sports Resort 2 and their 1to1 peripheral. Another Win for Nintendo. Dear Microsoft (Sony too if my price assumption is right), You need to sell units to gain developer support. You need developer support to be successful. $150 is WAY too much money. I was thinking $79 was too much. You guys are ****ing nuts. Love, Le Mor
The Move bundle is $100. It includes the Playstation Eye and a controller. I think you're moving the goalposts there. Yes, Kinect comes with Kinect Adventures. Does anyone honestly consider that a serious game worth whatever its built-in cost is? I don't. If I ever bought Kinect, I wouldn't play it. I'm not alone in that sentiment, either.
Dont get me wrong... I want one... To toy with and use to control Netflix and crap. But I want it for $50. Not $150.
Microsoft isn't targeting Kinect at the same group that Nintendo targeted the Wii and Wii Sports at. No comparison, IMO.
The nav controller isn't required for anything (you can use a DS3 or 6-axis), and many people probably have an eye already (especially if you bought Eye of Judgement). A number of games (that are already out) are being patched to use the Move, including Heavy Rain and Tiger Woods 11. So someone might not need to "buy" a new game to use the move. I don't think it is quite 1:1 even with the MotionPlus add-on. Plus not everyone wants wii game selections or 480p with their motion controlling. Then how is the wii selling so much? Pretty much the only things that sell are 1st party titles (Wii Play doesn't count, but I suppose EA sports active, and Just Dance do). The Move appears to have a lot of support to start with, but a lot of it may be from Sony studios.
Nintendo is the developer support in Wii's case. People still treat Nintendo 1st party games like they're the best at everthing. I personally strongly disagree, but people in general seems to
I'd agree with you. I have no clue what the developer support is for the kinect, but it does seem a bit stronger (perhaps only slight however) with the Move.
I am going to get the Move when it comes out. My daughter really likes some of the new games coming out for it, and I like the idea of seeing yourself on the TV. And it is cheaper then the Kinect.
I'll pass. The Wii does nothing for me... Any of it's best games doesnt need motions. I'd argue that those games would all be better on a powerful console with controllers. Move and Kinect doesnt look like it will do anything for me either.
That's cool, different strokes for different folks. Sports Champions is a great, great game. And I hear John Daly's new golf game is a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the new Time Crisis. I pretty much agree with the Wii games likely being better on other consoles. Then again I really don't care for the Wii controllers (ignoring motion), which doesn't help. Spoiler Plus you'd have to buy the Move and/or Kinect if you wanted to use them. Can't download them off the net.
Oh.... That was the quietest hardware launch in history. Granted it's a peripheral imo... Even though Microsoft and Sony are teying to sell it as a new console type experience.
I don't know, I think they did all right. Oct 15th - http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/15/playstation-move-launch-sales/ Oct 21 - http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/21/sony-moves-1-million-moves-in-america/ I'm pretty sure it's sold out a lot of places still (like Amazon, though they do have the starter kits).
I've seen the commercial. I dont know a single person that has one... A few people here are the only people I know that even wants won. I know one guy that wants a Kinect... But for his kid.
Microsoft expects to sell 3 to 5 million kinects by the end of the year. THAT would surprise the hell out of me.
Well.... I just pre ordered our Kinect the other day...and Im really excited. My son is only 6...so it will be cool to play alot of the games on Kinect with him. Im also a big sports gaming fan...so thats really what I am looking forward to....a real good golf game would be amazing.... Havent had the chance to really give it a go yet....what has been your guys impressions if you have tested it so far?
Gametrailers reviewed Kinect Sports, Kindect Adventures, and Kinectimals... They all look pretty terrible. I can imagine Kinectimals being cool for your kid. I guess they'd all be cool for a kid.
If so wow. That game looks like it's sold to girls. Just my opinion. If I wanted to pretend I was a chick I'd just sing more often in Rock Band
Boy you sure nailed it, I'm trying to be more like a girl. Just like all the vocalists of songs that are in Rock Band.
