I wouldn't say time is running out. But there certainly is more pressure.

I think he has time left. Hell...look at Wanny. Not to mention Bill is still in charge and will want to give him enough time to show he hired the right guy.

    This.

I'm not sure what's up with the local media talking about Sparano as if his job is in imminent jeopardy without a playoff berth. His spot is secure as long as Parcells is here, and then I'd say he has a two or three year grace period after that, as long as the team doesn't go through another 1-15 type catastrophe season. So, he'll be our coach through at least the 2012 season, preferably for many more winning years beyond as well.

Sparano understands the expectations and I think the team will generally deliver. We do have a struggle in the first half of the season, though.

I don't think time is running out either. I know that writer said that but do you really think that Parcells would put him on the hot seat after 3 years...I don't think so.

Well Wanny quit on us. I don't think we will ever see that from Sparano. He has a diehard attitude that won't quit as we all know. I believe this is our year!!

After what's been done after 1-15? Who would've thought playoffs and division title would be expectations after the turmoil inherited? At that time all I wanted my Dolphins to be respectable, they're competitive again with foundation established. Ask fans of the Lions and Rams if they would trade for where the Dolphins are at and they would in a heatbeat.

This is time though to start feeling some pressure to continue growing to the "next level". No team sets out to JUST be competitive, they want championship. Coaches don't want their teams to be average. After regressing a bit in 2009 with one of the toughest schedules in the league after one of the easiest in 2008, there is pressure to keep moving in a positive direction and not remain stagnant. But it would take a major collapse for him to lose his job at this point. Sparano and the staff are trying a lot of different things to improve, and fixing their mistakes along the way. It's been at least a decade since we've had drafts that could come close to comparing how 2008 and 2009 are turning out.

Completely rebuild team and 3rd youngest in the NFL.

Incredibly tough division with Jets/Pats, who are in most evaluator's top 5 AFC team list and ahead of the Dolphins.

More pressure? Yep, but that pressure is to show marked improvement. I thought we were a better team last year than the year before. Injuries, and arguably the hardest schedule in the NFL, contributed to a worse record and missing the playoffs.

If the Dolphins make the playoffs with this young roster and tuff division, it will be a successful season. Once you're in the playoffs, anything can happen.

Time is not running out but I think there is pressure to get into the playoffs. He has made some questionable decisions during games with clock management and other coaching type decisions. The team also came out flat on more then one occasion last year. These type of things must be corrected or sooner, rather then later, I think his "seat" will begin to get "warm".

We live a 2 minute universe now-a-days with remote controls, microwave ovens, and timers on our coffee markers, but football doesn't understand what time is. Everyone is in such a freakin' big hurry that we forgot that getting a football team in order takes a while. We need to go through at least three drafts.

Naturally our expectations were heightened with our great turnaround from the 1-15 season and everyone was drooling all over the floor, but that can be dangerous. A little expectation will always kill boat load of hard work. TS should have two more years after this one and everyone should lay off him, including, but not limited to this dork at the Palm Beach Post who wrote such a stupid article.

That's what I love most about the media. They just aren't happy until they stir something up.

You know, I think they are trying to start somethng with the Dolphins as usual. But I don't believe that Sparano is buying into that 3 years and your out thing. I agree with you that he has a job as long as Parcells is there and beyond.

Good post man... I love it. I know we could go all the way. I think whatever pressure is on Sparano will make him stronger and the team stronger as the season goes by.

When it comes to coaching, I believe continuity trumps not knowing who your next coach will be. I mean even Dick Juaron got the Bears to 13-3 eventually. Even if your coaching is mediocre, it's still better to leave it alone until you know you've got a better candidate waiting in the wings.

I've got beef with Sparano's emotional sideline nature, his ballsy QB substitutions and his crappy 2 minute offense, but if the next Tom Landry isn't ready to grab the baton then I'm slapping Tony on the back and telling him good job. I've seen too many organizations, including our own, crapping out when they roll those dice.

When isn't there pressure on a HC? Moreover, at what point does pressure on a HC decrease?

I like how Sparano is running the team. I do think he could improve some of his game day decisions and management. But I don't feel he should be in the hot seat. We have a young and talented group of guys and I think that Sparano does do a great job motivating them to perform.

NO way can you compare Wanny and Sparano!! Wanny was handed a playoff team and ran it into the ground with terrible drafting. Sparano inherited a 1-15 team full over overpaid bad draft picks, players and their (family's), and older washed up players. If you can't say after watching the past 2 years that this team is headed in the right direction maybe you should go back and watch the games from the past seasons.

Now I'm by no way proclaimin that we have the perfect team right now, but I do think we are a couple LB's, FS, and NT away from really having a great team. Too that as well we have a lot of youth at those positions that may turn into the player were looking for we just dont know it yet.

I don’t see where Stoda is coming from. We’re talking about 18 wins in 2 seasons vs. 20 in the previous 4.

As long as Mr. Ross continues to focus on marketing his brand and leaves the football stuff to the football guys, this has the makings of a very nice run.

You are making a good point. What he is doing should be proof that he isn't on the hot seat and the only pressure is the pressure he puts on his self.

Sparano is, and should be under tremendous pressure to win this year. If we don't make the playoffs, his days as HC will certainly have to be questioned in my opinion...

Marshall was added to bolster the offense, and the defense has been overhauled with some very promising young talent. Not to mention landing DC Mike Nolan, who should do very well reshaping this unit. There's really no reason this team shouldn't make the playoffs, so Sparano's future should depend on it. He'll certainly need a good / reasonable excuse if we don't...

I LOVE his emotions, he is so intense and energetic, hell even I want to run through a brick wall for him when I'm sitting in front of my tv. As far as his personality and demeanor I give him an A+.

He also keeps 'issues' and disgruntled players under wraps from turning into dramatic soap operas in the media, examples being Roth and Porter. He can't control who goes drunk driving or what Ireland says about anyone's mama, but I think he brings a "blue-collar class" to the team.

As far as the crappy 2 minute offense though, I agree, something needs to change in a big way.

Yeah, I'm being overcritical with the emotional sideline stance. I guess I was just trying to say that it's easier to concentrate without the emotional ripples. Maybe just save it for the end. Otherwise, I agree with your take.

You make a good point there. I didn't see it from that point of view. With this kind of ability that we now have, we should be able to get into playoffs and more. I would have to agree with you that I would have to question the coach at that point. Something has to be wrong if they aren't winning enough games to get into the playoffs. Good post.
