Rex Hadnot: The Dolphins informed Hadnot's agent they want to keep the right guard, but the sides have very different perceptions of his value and are not close. ''We've discussed concepts and are trying to bridge the gap,'' agent J.R. Rickert said. If they can't, he would test free agency, where several linemen made a fortune last spring.

Zach Thomas said at Tuesday's Dolphins Touchdown Club luncheon that his wife wants him to retire, but he's planning to play next season. ''I'm happy here,'' he said.

I'm always wary of guys who play great during a contract year. He wasn't that good before. Could be his switch to guard has helped though. For the same $$ Fanaca is a better option.

Besides Marino, ZT has to be one of my all-time favorite Fin. The guy is just a machine, he will be missed for sure when he does retire.

He is versatile, but not worth the really big bucks that guards received last year.

He is much younger then Fanaca as well.

I'm wondering with Satele and Carey already onbaord, if we may be better off drafting people to fit?

With Alan's age he might even come a bit cheaper then Hadnot. Question is whether he can be lured to this team. Honestly if your going to pay money to a guard he better be playing LG. Bring in a vet or a later draft pick and let Mormino battle them for the RG spot (same with lekkerkerkkekrkekerker ;p )

We should have 2 guard positions open if Rex walks. Mormino may not be ready and don't they have Toledo projected at Tackle? And we all know he's always hurt. Faneca has pretty much said he isn't going to be in Pitt. next year and he has been a very solid guard for years.
I also noted OJ Mcduffie saying Hagan is still a body catcher, isn't that something you work on in pop warner?

Faneca will most certainly NOT come cheaper than Hadnot. Faneca is looking to cash in huge and its the main reason he is leaving the Steelers. They never shell out the big bucks to keep their own and he knows it.

As for Hadnot, Rex played well a couple of years ago when he was at RG. We then decided it would be best to put him at center for a couple of seasons. I say re0sign him, he is young and has cohesiveness with his other young linemen. Plus, it means we will have 3/5 of our line form this year locked up for next. The familirarity will be key for these guys as the continue to grow and progress.

I think you mean RG, his rookie year he played next to Seth Mckinney. He never played RT, at least I don't remember that being the case. I'd like to see him re-signed as well but he doesn't deserve blockbuster money he's played pretty well this year and should get good G money. The Steelers just re-signed their other G Kendall Simmions to a extension. Faneca could end up in Zona w/ Grimm and Whisenhut.

No way Faneca will be cheaper than Hadnot. Faneca is all about money and with his resume, some team will shell out huge money for him. He's not all that old anyhow.

Hadnot isn't going to receive big big money like some of those guards did last year (Steinback, Dockery)....I say we shoule keep him. He's a solid starter and the cohesion of keeping him, makes up for any talent differential you MAY be able to found at or around the same price.

When you are 0 for a year and something. There is no one that you
HAVE to resign. What happens if you don't resign them? You lose
    more games.

At least we are showing Interest in keeping Sexy Rexy, I think he signs. He wont be getting Steinbach or Dielman money. I can assure of that....

I would pay Hadnot a good amount of money, but not Dockery/Steinbach money.

Plus, about Thomas, if he came back I would be fine. I don't want him risking further injury but I'd rather see him in a Dolphins uni than somewhere else. I can't say the same for Jason Taylor though, he needs to be traded.

I saw the articles title and I thought the author was going to present some kind of debate. I don't see anything tough about the decisions on the players mentioned..

I know they talked about Fanaca on one of the Steelers monday night games. They were saying he played with a mean attitude and it affected the lineman he played with. The Dolphin line could stand to have some of this aggresive attitude.

Couldn't agree more, for once, let's try and keep some cohesiveness on the Oline. One likely scenario is we can't meet his demands, and hopefully his testing the free agent market fails to meet his demands and he resigns with us. It's a bit of a gamble though.

Obviously Cam hasn't instilled any motivation in JT. Maybe (and I'm not promoting it at the moment) if we bring in someone like Schottenheimer, then JT will get some fire back and regain his MVP form. something to consider.

Now that's a funny headline. Seems to me our only tough roster decisions are who to get rid of first.

I'd resign Hadnot if I were the Phins FO. I'm hoping they sign Fanaca though just so the Jets can't. I'm sure he has a good amount of years left in him but I'd prefer to build through the draft.

Rex Hadnot should come at a reasonable price. If he doesn't, let the market set the price for him. If an offer is worth matching then match it, if not let him walk.

There is no way I want Faneca coming here, he is around 35 years old and will want a big contract. Miami would be better off re-signing Hadnot who is a good right guard and almost 10 years younger, hopefully they can come to an agreement and Hadnot will be here for many years.

honestly, i wouldn't bother with hadnot.

rex is serviceable at best; at his level of experience, he still makes the dumbest damned mistakes. and for his size, his run-blocking is ok, but not what you'd expect. and his pass-blocking is inconsistent.

for the money he'll want, i'd rather have a couple or three nice veterans at the right price to give us depth and security.

but by all means, we need to get a lt and a lg at least in this draft. a huge rg would be good too.

is Rex Hadnot stupid? hes on (apparently) the dead last offense and hes not the best lineman, and he thinks he can make Eric Steinbach, Kris Dielman money???? PUH-LEEZ! if he demands a lot of money, let him go.

at this point in time, i woulda given Steinbach and Dielman what they wanted. its obvious them two being LG and RG woulda helped us GREATLY.

Guards got paid stupid money last off-season so Rex is going to see what the market is like this year. I think he'll actually get consideration from other teams as the OL has played well in 8 out of 12 games this year.

I for one would rather keep him even if it means paying him more than what we're used yto paying guards as the OL has done pretty well this year and I'd rather keep the unit together. It's the LG spot we need to upgrade, so I'd rather keep Rex and focus on the LG spot in FA or the draft. If we get a good LG then the O-Line will be set for a few years which would be a good base to build on.

those arent tough decisions...but rather easy... Hadnot wats big bucks let him go, get scot or lilja in fa, mormino at g or shleton at g with a rookie tackle. Booker first man cut. Zt can return draft a rookie still n have em carry the 2nd mlb spot in tue 3 4

    Here and there
Maybe I'm missing something but I never saw where hadnot asked for Stienbach or Dielman money, Just that he was going to test the market. Well let him, I'm going to presume that him and his agent are smart enough to reconize the differences in the money the guards made last year and what he may ask for this up coming year. Some one mentioned the statistical position of the Fins offense, well GMs and coached don't judge a single player buy the statisic of the team as much as the players performance its self. Either the player played well or he didn't, he was either a good teammate or he wasn't.
There seems to be this automatic conclusion that Hadnots agent will be asking for a lot of money, but lets look at the facts here,
Hadnot doesn't have the experiance that last years guards had.
Hadnot does not have any probowl appearances unlike last years guards.
Hadnot's play has been good but not consistant enough or dominate enough to warrent that kind of money.

My opinion is they want to test the market for any desperate teams that need OL help enough to over pay, and when they won't he'll sign with Miami for a reasonable amout of money.

P.S. Nabo, dude that avi is disturbing, creeps me out man.
