if you watch him play in college and in miami last year there was a ton more hesitation and indecisiveness. he had plays drawn up for him to pass IIRC but he never took them. Without Pat White chiming in its just two different perceptions of his play

I dont understand the arguement that Pat White shoulcd be playing the jet position it the wildcat. He was brought in to expand the wildcat and its passing. He can do that exponentially more from behind the center.

Its was his first year in the NFL last year and to be thrown into games like he was I believe he actually played decent. Of course like anyone else I would have liked to see some passes completed last season but keep in mind a rookie QB in the NFL more than likely will not have more than two reads on a play. Pat white had to make two reads just to decide if he was going to run or throw on some plays. So of course he was flustered a bit but I expect his role to expand in the wildcat and option play into what some of us Dolphins fans foolishly expected from him last year.

That is the other thing about Pat White...he rarely has done any interviews since he came to the Dolphins, I try to archive the things and so far..I've gotten a grand total of..2...in 2yrs.

And one was when Chris Henry died.

he should learn both elements..The goal is to be as unpredictable as possible when that set comes in...

My goal for him is to be a true wildcat player knowing all skill position responsibilities within the formation...then, let ronnie and Pat take the field whenever the formation is used.

    honestly

I'm confused w/ what the cadre's plans are for Pat White
w/hoping for some creativity & am seeing more of the same
a tremendous talent being wasted on conventional football!

    not going to work

This is old but I still love watching it and hearing about Pat White's decision making. I would like to see us run more of the true spread offense with Pat, But it's damn hard to take Henne off the field:

I appreciate your point of view but IMO It's the other way around. Pat needs to learn to run a Pro style offense.

then he will be history after this season

got to use his versatility & knowledge of the game
creativity & the the non-conventional system are his ticket

my concern is: up until now I don't see this happening

Oh I completely agree. Long term White is going to have to turn into a traditional QB in some form or fashion if he doesn't want to play WR. I was just speaking of this year. Just looking to try to get him on the field and get some value out of the pick.

better get creative fast or he'll be a conventional qb in an other league , in another place
creativity & versatility are his tickets to ride the NFL

Teaching White the fundamentals of the position is one thing, making him a pro set QB is a monumental waste of that 2nd round pick. He'll never be anything but a back up at best and more than likely, find his way outta the league with a couple years...

And for those wanting him to replace RW on the field in the WC...... just stop it

if he becomes a reliable backup then the pick will have been worth it. it might be a bit high but a backup qb who can run the wildcat or pistol or some variation has value. we'll see this year how far he has come

Taking back ups and specialty players in the first 3 rounds is a good way to make sure you never see a SB...

Well if that is all you draft for three years straight then ya, you're not going anywhere but if you spend one 2nd rounder in three years on that type i think you'll be ok

But you absolutely have to be in a position to do it..... you have to have a loaded roster with few to no real holes. You can't be taking guys like him, Ted Ginn, Jamar Fletcher, Travis Minor, LoBro and etc.... in he first 3 rounds when you have gaping holes all over the team and at core positions..

It's just irresponsible use of draft picks..

parcells wasnt here for ginn, fletcher, minor and lebron james lol i have no idea who lobro is. his first two rounds in each draft are jake long, merling, henne, vontae, sean smith, pat white, odrick, misi. thats pretty much core starting prospects except for pat white. he's not responsible for past mistakes

Lobro is Lorenzo Brommel or as I liked to call him "Travis Minor Light"

And Merling so far was a wasted pick....Turner in round 3? huge reach..

However, their drafting (who ever it is that calls the shots because none of us truly know for sure).....is much better than in recent years... that doesn't mean that some their draft and FA misses can't or won't hurt us..

well there are going to be misses. noone gets every pick right. i wass just making the point that in terms of draft strategy early in the draft pat white is the exception not the rule. once every five years i predict we'll take some weird flyer on someone early. the rest of the time it will be safe core bets. even if they dont all work out our batting average will be better than most
