The tickets all sold themselves... in a matter of seconds. Win-win all around, since the salespeople probably earned as much commissions as you can possibly make. There's just no more fish out there for them.
NY's big pitch was all about the media opportunities that are allegedly only available in NY. So obviously picking NY would have involved buying that and wanting that. LBJ was still trying to lure Bosh to Cleveland up until about two before the decision, so he clearly wasn't stringing teams along. He preferred Cleveland if he could win there. When it became obvious that no significant FAs were likely to ever go there, he went with his best chance to win. And that announcement came quickly (within two days). How is that stringing teams along?
straw grabbing at it;s worse. They made damn near 40k in commissions in 2 months and are being given 1 year severance packages while some are being placed in other jobs. What else do you got?
Hard to understand this post. In one instance you say that Amare and Parker are better than Wade and Bosh...then you say that Amare is better than Wade. No on all counts. If he wanted to win, and win right away, there were only two choices, Chicago and Miami, and even then...Chicago would have needed to get Boozer. (They would have had to clear cap space)
So NY's big pitch was all about media attention? Nothing to do with being able to sign 2 max this year and 1 max next year with a budding star in Gallinari in place already? Thats funny. He would have had more media opportunities here as an aside for certain. The part with cleveland was that no FA's were able to go there as they were so far over the cap they would have had to trade with no leverage to do anything. Miami gave up nothing for Bosh and said take this or you get nothing basically. Which I dont blame Miami for doing because they held all the cards. As far as the stringing along part.... - He hinted numerous times over the last two years how much he loved playing in MSG. - He was quoted a couple of time last season telling Gallinari he would be watching his progression, basically insinuating that he wanted to see if Gallinari could be a second or third wheel on a championship team. So all Gallinari did was average 15PPG as a 21 year old coming off back surgery and better stats then Dirk Nowitzki in his second year. Thats all. - He was talking to CC Sabathia for months about the Knicks. I wonder how Heat fans will feel about him constantly wearing that Yankee cap? Theres a lot more. Regardless its done but as far as I'm concerned he's getting booed like hell next Knick game in MSG. Not arrogance, its a brutally honest sentiment. They arent the same. Thanks though. I was reporting the tweet that Alan Hahn had. Thats real generous that Miami placed them in other jobs...im sure bathroom maintenance and kitchen clean up crew was exactly what some of those guys wanted...
If u guys would put the black and red glasses down maybe you could understand what I said. I said If LeBron wouldve went to NY they would have been better than the Heat, Point: I favor Amare n Lebron over Wade and Bosh, ecspecially with a Tony Parker possible next year. You guys get it now??? Gooooooooooood Job
or maybe you should word your posts in such a way that people can understand what is being said. Saying that if lebron had gone to knicks with tony parker then they would be better than the heat, leads people to believe you are referring to this years heat team, not the team they would be without LeBron. You get it now??Goooooooooood Job
I actually think this works out for the Knicks. I dont think LeBron could have handled playing in New York. The expectations would have been a ring and if he didnt win one he wouldve crucified in the local media. I think he wouldve imploded in New York. Knicks are better off trying to grab an eight seed and then trying to grab someone like melo next year. Melo could handle the expectations better IMO. hopefully stoudamires knees hold up because if they dont the knicks are screwed for the next five years.
yeah..I am sure...that is it. You didn't want him in the first place. ahhh...MELO! YESSS!!! HE is the SAVIOR! I swear to you...we wanted him all along... oh..Melo resigned... What a *****...couldn't hack it...Deron Williams is our guy... Chris Paul? Dwight Howard? Corey Maggette? Mo Williams? Contraction? Move the franchise to Anchorage?
Aww boo hoo, youre not from new york so lets hate on everyone from there. Come on dude. I think what youre mistaking as arrogance is really just general apathy. Wade may wear a sox cap all the time but hes from there. And no one with a functioning brain ever thought Wade was leaving Miami. I knew, you knew it and so did everyone else here deep down. He was going to get a stud. I always thought it would be Amar'e personally but Im glad he's a Knick since he wanted to be there. And Gallinari is NOTHING like Beasley. Beasley is LAZY. He doesnt even try to defend. He cares more about filling a box score then winning games. He's more Zach Randolph then Zach Randolph is at this point. All the talent in the world but the light hasnt gone on yet..which isn't to say it won't.
I am from Elizabeth/patterson New Jersey. But I know tons of new yorkers. I have also been there. The facts remain the same. Lebron wanted to win and he picked his best chance to win, as well as the best, most stable organization. It was a no brainer really. All of the fans of the teams that were really inferior in what they could offer BASKETBALL wise are now jilted and pissed off. What I find comical is that the reason I thought he never would come here, was that I thought he cared more about being perceived as the man and making money than winning. The haters are pissed off that he wasn't more selfish and a typical athlete. It is just jealousy at this point, because the "decision" show is really something that should only piss off Cavs fans..and even then...get over it.
New York crushes athletes that cant handle pressure. LeBrons playoff performance proves he's a chump which is why he chose Miami. In the playoffs he'll let Wade run the team and the pressure will be off him. Good move for him actually. Its rare you get such understanding of one's place in the universe at such an early age
LMAO you are talking about the guy that single handedly took the Pistons apart what ...two three yrs ago right? He played hurt in the playoffs and didnt ***** or complain about it and he's a chump......ok. Here's your invitation.
That's not stringing anybody along. That's just being interested in potentially playing there. He always said that he would listen to each team's pitch. NY's pitch wasn't as good as Miami's. And yes, that was the main part of NY's pitch. They brought in some firm's calculations that LBJ could make more b/c of the bigger market than the competing teams. NJ's main pitch was that they would show him how to become a billionaire. Cleveland played the family and loyalty angle with some cartoon they made. Riley put a bag with 21 rings (he had them made in different metals) and told him that championship teams were built a certain way and showed him how he would be a part of that in Miami. Now I'm sure all the teams touched on the how they could build around him to some extent, but only Miami made it the primary focus. And yes it is arrogance to assume that every athlete wants to play in NY. If I suddenly had Jordan's talent and could go anywhere NY wouldn't make my top 10. And it's not like the FA's were fighting to go there this off-season. Basically they were just one of the options among the teams that had cap space.
You really have no idea who Lebron James is. have you even seen his career playoff numbers? You do know he had the single best playoff series of all-time on a per basis with a dreadful supporting cast vs. the Pistons in the ECF? I am beginning to think you don;t watch basketball. quick .... who of these three has the best career playoff averages: Lebron James Dwyane Wade Kobe Bryant hint: They are ranked in order.
You can't be serious can you? He's probably the best playoff and clutch player of our era. He single-handedly took a team to the finals at 23 years old. You can't say that about anyone else in the history of the NBA. Only LeBron could have a triple-double in the playoffs, and have that considered to be a bad game. Facts are fun.
this is nuts, I have to get tix, and burn some Celtics fan on stubhub..... The Heat will open their regular season on Oct. 26 in Boston against the Celtics, sources tell the Boston Globe. Of course, the game will be nationally televised on TNT and will have a circus-like atmosphere as "Big 3s" collide. The Heat figure to be on ESPN, TNT and ABC 34 times this season -- the maximum allowed by the league.
You mean Game 6? http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200806170BOS.html Kobe Bryant: 7-22, 22 pts, 3 rebounds, 1 assist
LeBron is taking out an ad in the Akron paper to thank Akron - it doesn't mention Cleveland or the Cavs once. Not sure I understand - he says he is still going to live there and still be part of Akron - so why the need for the ad? These ads are normally used by players to thank the fans of the city that cheered for them?
Trying not to get shot.....dude why in the Lord's name would you ever want to live in Akron if you play in Miami.... This move is because his family wants to live there still....
true. Kobe only had to score another 40 points and the Lakers would have won that game. What a loser. Lebron shot 39% in game 4, 21% game 5, and 38% game 6 compare that to Kobe shooting 46% in gm 4, 48% in gm 5, 47% in gm 6 and 25% in gm 7 last year. Lebron is the new Allen Iverson
Great thing about basketball is they record statistics, which are pretty indicative of performance: LeBron vs. Kobe vs. Iverson (since you are intent on somehow bringing him into the conversation) http://www.basketball-reference.com...010&p2=bryanko01&y2=2004&p3=iversal01&y3=2001 Bizarre, because that says that *gasp* LeBron actually has a higher FG %. How many seasons has Kobe had over 50%? Facts are fun.
Wait a minute. Which part of "best career playoff averages" is vague or not understandable? How bout this: Better in every single category than Kobe Bryant. Do you understand that part?
LOL! how selective... hmmmmm why pick it up at game 4? oh..here's why: Kobe Game 1 through 3: 45%, 40%, 34%. LBJ, Game 1 through 3: 50%, 47%, 64%. Just...lol.
everyone knows that the first three games of a series doesn't count. Neither do other playoff series' throughout their careers or regular season numbers. Why? because im a new yorker and i say so.
only sport where stats are indicative is baseball where everything boils down to a one vs one matchup. lets look at lebron's effect on the people around him, which is why i brought up iverson in the first place larry hughes before joining lebron 22 pts per gm/43% ---after 12-15 pts per gm/ 40-38% carlos boozer 52%/ 15 pts per gm with lebron/ 17-19 pts after 52% to 56% after shaquille oneal 61%/ 18 pts per gm before lebron/ 56% and 12 pts per gm after joing lebron mo williams 14 assists/ 17 ppg before/ 12 assists 16 pts per gm after antwun jamison 21 pts per gm before/ 16 pts after lebum is a ball hog in the allan iverson tradition who makes everyone around him worse. thankfully for you guys riley wont let him be the main guy and will leave the ball in the hands of Wade and allow King Lame to find his true calling as a second bit player on the team
we're talking clutch. it aint clutch unless elimination is on the line. gm 4 is when it starts to get clutch lebron james: the dave winfield of basketball
LeBron a ball hog? You can't really watch the NBA and believe that. To see what effect he has on his teammates, not only look at how he made Mo Williams and Boobie Gibson among the top-5 3pt shooters in the NBA, look how he made that entire team play defense. And statistics are most certainly very valuable and indicative for the NBA. Look no further than PER if you want to see who actually improves their team.
any stat that has iverson in the top 5 is better used as a substitute for toilet paper when one runs out
LeBron has ben critisized by pundits for passing the ball too much, now you want us to believe he's a ball hog? And why didn't you post the FG% for jamison and williams, because they went up?
