Another thing not getting much attention was the score. The action sequence music was phenomenal, adding yet another layer of suspense onto what was already a multi-layer nail-biter. I thought my dad was going to have a heart attack.

And the semi-trippy music as they walk through an empty limbo was just downright haunting!

And the final piece was just . . . happy. It set exactly the right mood, an enormous gasp of relief coupled with an amazing sense of victory and achievement.

I have found the music randomly stuck in my head for days after seeing it.

    Live from the Internet.
    Saw it twice.

I think it was real. In the very beginning of the movie, when Cobb is explaining about his "totem" I believe he said it spins perfectly, without shaking or moving (he didin't use those exact words, but you get the point) So I believe it was real.

great movie. try explaining the plot to someone in under a minute lol

whether you can "figure out" the movie is less important than the experience and its themes. lots of people can boast that they know everything about movies like this, but they arent meant to be completely understood. nolan withholds bits of information that leaves it incomplete.

The score was excellent yes, definitely added a lot to the movie.

Well I know one person that didn't like it.. my boss...

After telling her it was a great movie she went to see it... not her type of movie. Now she is approaching 60 so of course people at that age MAY not be interested in this type of movie. However, she does like a good action movie from time to time (she liked Avatar to a degree). She felt they didn't do enough to explain the type of technology involved, for example when Leo met up with the architect at that school thru his father. She said there wasn't enough storyline behind that. And every time they went down a level she rolled her eyes and lost interest.... These people do exist, personally I think she's insane...

seriously, if you're nitpicking technology in a movie there is possibly something wrong with you....

In regards to your post Paul

My father in law is 70 and he saw the movie in an IMAX theater last week. We were talking about the movie earlier and the problem he had with it was that Ellen Page just seemed to pick up all of the info she needed rather quickly. He felt it was a little too convenient for her to be as knowledgeable as she was in such a small amount of time. He also felt she looked/acted as if she was too young for the role (yes she was a college student).

I guess he felt she didn't really fit in with the rest of the cast. I've also heard that a lot of people had trouble understanding what Ken Watanabe was saying b/c of the music and how loud it was. I know we had that problem in our theater. Half of what he said we had no clue of.

I've read that one of the main purposes of Ellen Page's character was to help the viewer better understand what was going on, so it was important for things to get explained to her and for her character to pick them up and further develop it for the audience to see. I know a lot of people didn't like her but I really didn't have any problems with her or her character.

Kind of amazing! And apparently Hans Zimmer has admitted that was the whole point. So not only did you have stories looped upon one another, but the music was as well. Flippin' brilliant!

You could tell that was her "role," but I didn't mind. It's not like it was Screech asking Zach for an explanation of why they were in the girls' locker room . . . as they enter the girls' locker room!

its better not to explain the technology and all the other stuff. if they did that, the movie would be too long first of all. plus, in an attempt to explain everything, the movie would probably turn into an incomprehensible mess like the last two matrix movies.

as i sort of implied in my other post, if the viewer is worried about those things, they are missing the larger points of the movie. the movie is about conceptions of reality and consciousness, not the products that allow the characters to explore these things

it doesnt mean the movie is perfect or cant be criticized of course

oh and i ended up seeing the movie at an older theater because of available show times at the good AMC. the sound was just terrible at the old theater. kinda wrecked some things

That's what I assumed the ultimate purpose of her character was as well

I never even had a second thought about the technology used. I just assumed that the machine they used was to help put the characters asleep and monitor their sleeping/dream stages to know when they would be close to waking up or when to wake them up etc.

Like you said it wasn't really important to the story and if someone is so concerned about something small like that they're not going to enjoy the film anyway and will miss the whole point of the story.

i think the simplicity of a briefcase hooked up with IVs was nolans way of saying, "forget about this. its not that important."

There was actually an article in my local paper about how the critique's of the movie weren't as good the older one polled. Apparently, if your a 'gamer' your conditioned a lot to the ideas of levels etc..where as an older generation tends to get lost on such. Was an interesting article.

    Edit: Found the article online.

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

If they were, it would mean that he was an "invader" in someone else's dream... So I would imagine not.

Fantastic movie either way... It's almost as if we were all victims of an inception ourselves...

My wife and I have this theory...
This movie was actually a story about Mal trying to get Cobb back to real life. Mal "killed" herself, but it was actually a "kick" to get herself up a level. That act accidentally planted the seed in Cobb's mind that she was dead. It was, in theory, about the "Inception" that Mal inadvertently placed in Cobb's mind. So everything in the movie happens in his dreams within dreams.

Saw it yesterday. Really really enjoyed it. From Nolan using some of the same actors from the Batman movies to the score to the story overall.

Leo is one of those actors that I want to hate because he was a teen hearthrob and all of that, but hsi body of work is just too damned good. Gangs of New York, Inception, The Departed, Gilbert Grape...the guy can act his *** off. Brad Pitt kind of falls into that category too.

Anyhow, I have my own theory about the outcome as well. And without placing spoilers, I will say that at one point, they talk about not letting anyone touch anyone else's totem since it kind of renders them useless at that point. Well wasn't Leo's totem not his own? So can you really trust the outcome of his totem when he uses it? Plus...Sato uses it as well soooooooo....

Yeah that has been brought up a lot and most people bring up the fact that Leo says if the top stops spinning then he knows it isn't a dream anymore, where as the other totems are based on weight/feel.
