Very very good points. I was one that wanted Martin gone and praised him as our best TE receiving and blocking in 08. But that is a very good valid point about the velocity making a difference in catching the football...

    We will see.

It. Is. So. Effing. On. Now.

The NFL doesn't have the defense to stop our offense. I new one will have to be invented.

Welcome back, Mr. Martin. I'm glad that he's become a fan favorite as he went beyond a typical player when he did not become gun-shy after taking some nasty hits to the head.

I think Henne's touch improves after he gets into the flow of the game and has thrown a few fastballs. Play-calling may be a bigger contributor to Henne's improvement than any adjustment he may have made.

Is that a stat web site that ranks QBs effectiveness with short passes (i.e., 3rd and less than 5 conversion, short, medium, and long pass efficiencies, etc)? Henne reminds me of Eli Manning, who's a better with a 10 - 25 yard pass than 5 yards.

The points you raise form the basis for the keep the younger player (if all things are equal). This seems to create questions on why the Dolphins signed Martin a week into training camp and which player will be impacted the most? Without an injury, this signing seems to indicate the something was lacking in the offense.

This was last Thursday, right? That's the one bad practice Henne has had to date. I wouldn't read too much into that.

Valid point, but I think we've got to take Bess at his word until game tape tells us otherwise.

I like it. Especially if he performs anything like 2008.

It's probably hard to throw a touch pass with the Defense all in his face. Once the O-Line hits their stride, we'll see his touch. Touch passes are best thrown in either a low pressure situation or a situation in which your name is Chad Pennington.

I'm going to do my best to gloss over my extreme dislike of Haynos and say simply that this makes me very happy.

Don't get me wrong, I like him. But he is a #2, I believe Fasano is a better blocker and receiver, just not quite as fast. Hopefully he'll stay healthy...

I can't say I've focused on how Henne's touch changes during the game, you may be right.

    I don't know of one.

My guess is that they're not seeing enough development from the young guys. If Martin is healthy and capable of playing like he did in 2008 then I think he'll bump one of the young ones. I don't think this impacts Fasano's roster spot. He's our best blocking TE and Martin was never a great blocker.

Fantastic pickup if he is in good shape and ready to contribute like he did in 2008. He, Marshall, Hartline/Cammy and Fasano could make us really potent in the red zone, not to mention opening up lanes for running the ball inside the red zone as well. Teams won't know whether to focus on the rush or pass and either could be just as effective.
