Good rundown. God I hated having to see Ray lucas and AJ Feely again. I do think Huard should've been higher. Rosenfels wasn't too bad but would (and still does) throw too many picks. Fiedler was a gamer and without too many weapons could still win.

    Well that....was depressing.

Honestly though, I can't disagree with the placement of any of these as Fiedler probably has been our best long term solution since Marino retired. If you put that together I say congrats. Just a few thoughts from a fellow writer. If you hope to write nationally, you will have to pull your fandom in some. If I was just a sports fan reading this, I would know right away that you were a somewhat jaded Dolphins fan.

That aside, I think it is an interesting subject matter for the phins. I am not sure I have ever sat down and actually ranked the disasters at the mostimportant position in football, so kudos for doing that and opening up what should be a lively debate!

Thanks for the advice. I wrote this article earlier, http://bleacherreport.com/articles/432079-cast-your-vote-who-will-represent-the-afc-and-nfc-in-the-super-bowl . If I had my way, I would be an NFL writer. I love everything football and I'm not really worth a damn in any other sport.

i know that there are some people that really hate Jay, but i for one loved the guy. Can't think of many other qbs that would throw their whole body into a block for a broken down run play (sprung ricky for a td). Honestly, Jay probably did the best he could do given the situation he was put in. If wanny wasn't such a moron, then jay would have been a backup to somebody, but wanny is a moron so given that, jay is ok in my book.

I feel you man, IMHO I dont even think baseball should be considered a sport. Most of those players are overweight and not very athletic. It is boring for me to even watch a game, I wouldn't mind playing it but its not something I look forward to. Basketball is good I don't mind, I actually like Soccer and Rugby but there is nothing like Football. I love watching it and playing it. No greater feeling then waking up Sunday morning and getting ready to watch the Phins strap up for game day! This is all just my opinion though.

Jay Fiedler was decent, he just got injured a lot due to his playing style. That's the way he had to play to be successful though. He was the only QB besides Penny good enough to help us into the playoffs. Everybody else was basically a complete failure. Jay at least gave his all. Those injuries just killed him. Who knows how far we would have went in 02 if he stayed healthy the whole season.

Hey if you get the last one right in many many tries, you still got it right.

    Thank you Chad Henne.

Our QB curse was starting to feel like the Red Sox's Babe Ruth Curse.

I feel at ease to have the most accurate QB ever in the NFL as our backup. Penny is the only player ever that I have forgotten that he was a Jets player.

    This is more than depressing.

I would rather rank the top ten times I got kicked in the nuts.

    Or fired from a job.

Or dumped by the girl I thought loved me.

    And then stalked by her.

I would rather rank the worst cases of food poisoning

Loved Fiedlers heart but cringed everytime he threw that dreaded out pass, and well, almost everytime he dropped back...

Jay Fiedler gets a lot of credit for riding the coat tails of a great defense, and he just happened to have a Head Coach/General Manager that was completely unwilling to bring anyone in to compete for his spot. We passed on drafting Drew Brees because of Wannstedt's insecurity about creating competition and controversy at the quarterback position.

The fact of the matter is, Jay Fiedler should not be at the top of this list. I would put him in the middle part of the list, but he was a terrible quarterback and is not better than either Chad Pennington or Gus Frerotte.

You completely underrate the good things he did though. On a list that (besides Fielder) has 2 winning seasons you forget that at one point Jay had the third highest winning percentage at one point. You don't go 41-23 at in a span of your career if you're completely horrible....especially compared to the (mostly) scubs on that list. 2001 he had no running game and 2002 his QB rating was very very solid. No the guy wasn't incredibly talented, and yes he should have been replaced. That's not the point of this thread though.

But the fact of the matter is he deserves to be no lower than #2 considering everyone else on the list.

You're telling me..... Jay's 3290 yard 60% completions 20 td 19 int 6.3 ypa (321 yards rushing and 4tds on top of that) 2001 season with no running game (and no pro bowl receiver....only a rookie verison) vs Frerotte's 2996 yard 52% completions18 td 13 int 6.1 ypa (61 yards rushing) with a much better running game and a pro bowl reciever based only on that season alone (let alone the fact that with Jay we had 4 winning records and 2 playoff appearances) that Frerotte was better QB for the Dolphins. 11-5 is 11-5 hell the Jets went 9-7 with the best running game and D in the league Jay this last season should tell you something about how important the QB position is. I like to bring up 2001 because http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/2001.htm good god look at those rushing stats. then compare that to http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/2005.htm it's not even close IMO who the better QB was based on one year alone. Like I said add in two total playoff appearances and four total winning seasons and it's a blowout. There's a reason he's in 90% of everyone's top 3 on this list. The list is THAT bad save the two Chads.....and Jay.

Now Chad P is a different story. I agree...that's why he's #2. but Frerotte? middle of that dreadful pile? who's better.....henne will (or should anyway) be higher on the list soon but not yet.

And passed on Matt Hasselbeck and passed on Trent Green.

Fiedler held the team back. He was a caretaker and a poor one.

Especially if he had to throw an out pass. I do not understand why they didn't just give up on that type of pass. He didn't have the arm.

They didn't have sense enough to give up on Fiedler much less the out pass.

That was painful decade to say the least

There were some points in really close games that I'd see him looking out and I'd just walk out of the stadium before he even threw it. Knowing it was over.

For fans to KNOW he could not throw it showed how stubborn Wrongstedt was.

Oh man, now I'm getting pissed just thinking about it. Gotta go in my closet and pull out my Wrongstedt fat head and kick it in the nads a few times....

I still remember the comment Wannstedt made about Trent Green and Jay Fiedler,
"What can Trent Green do that Jay Fiedler can't!"
How about 4000 yards passing in one season?
I don't hate Jay Fiedler and recognize what a tough competitor he was, but unfortunately his memory will always be connected to Dave Wannstedt and the nightmare that was his tenure as head coach. Fiedler is part of the history of the Dolphins and we will never know if Brees, Green, Hassleback or someone else could have been a better option at the time. But we can just imagine what might have happened.

i liked jay bc while he didnt have the best arm and he wasnt the quickest player out there he tried and gave max effort all the time. i would much rather have someone like that on the field than a jamarcus russell
