Got Madden today and I must say I like it...EA is listening to us old school players and bringing some of the controls back.
Well I'd imagine the demo gives you a nice indicator of what gameplay will be like... I think it's not bad, but I'm holding off for Madden 12 for the new franchise mode.
Xbox questions: Does the replay only hold 5 seconds into the past because I don't have a hard-drive (xbox 360 arcade console)? I notice the "Play of the game" is the literally very last play of the game (kneel). Is anyone else getting this? Do I need a hard-drive? Another question: When a game is installed into the hard-drive, do you still need the disk to play/go online?
The replays are short even if u have a hard drive. My 96 yard TD run with Ronnie showed him running from about mid field or so. The play of the game error issue is only in the Demo, not the actual game. You still need the disc to play Madden after installing it to the HD(whether its online or offline), otherwise people could install the game on their friends systems. The main reason for installing to the HD is to preserve the 360 disc drives which are infamous for failing(as well as keeping the older 360s from sounding like a jet turbine)
I've been having this issue with all the next-gen Maddens though. The full-games (never had the demos). Thinking of spending some dough on a HD.
Your right, it was prevalent in past maddens. It also managed to sneak its way into the 2010 Demo . Thankfully they managed to tweak it before it launched. From what Ive noticed the past couple games Ive played it shows the go ahead score.
Bought the game today and I like it. Disappointed about the franchise, but the game play is much better.
Save some money and get a USB flash drive for extra storage. Cheaper than a HD and if you save profile to it you can use on another 360 if at mates house or you ever get a newer model.
I love Madden 11 (PS3), love the ability to use the suggested quick plays, audible out of them, or choose full playbook. The joystick approach is fine....its fun and both my thumbs are there and comfortable. Have to get used to shifting my DL or OLB or Coverage with the pad....same with HOT ROUTES for receivers....and while I have a habit of holding R2 for no reason, or X when running, I like seeing the blockers open holes and simply using the right stick to shift my body prior to contact, etc. I think this is another improvement in the long list of Madden thrills....and going back to X, X, X on kick offs and FG is excellent decision.
I am trying to become beast and wonder how you guys play? What players do you guys control? 1st and 2nd down I was thinking ILB 3rd and 4th I was thinking either a DE to rush or Middle Safety if I go with three at the back. What do you guys do? When controlling the ILB do you press R2 to strafe initially to read the play and then react by going after ball carrier or dropping in coverage? Any tips would be appreciated. When I played hardcore (Madden '08) I only controlled the DT on every down but great players use other players.
1st down. Definitely Interior lineman. Try to stop the run by stopping with the big boys. 2-3rd. Middle linebacker. A security blanket, really. If I notice all wide set or a wide formation with little chance of a delay, I might drop back and into zone coverage for a pick. I never play with DBs... ever. There's too much that can go wrong
Thanks man I appreciate the input. Gotta practice. I wanna be beast because my friend and I have a BIG TIME rivalry, and I gave up the last two years and gave him the title after I dominated him for years with the first gen Madden - still the one I prefer really.
Jeeeeeeze....they really are catering towards the n00b. First time playing Madden in around 2+ years and with the default settings I put up 120-7 (lucky hail mary for TB) against Tampa Bay in the preseason. Gotta up those difficulties!
I put the sliders for defensive awareness for the CPU up a little bit. Helps. Fiddle with the sliders some.
The default setting is Pro difficulty, which has been obscenely noob friendly for many years. "All Pro" can still be easy for many, but the CPU atleast is somewhat trying to win. All-Madden is always there for a challenge as well...
Nope, still the same suck as before. This year was obviously all about refining gameplay mechanics(which still need refining IMO) and introducing Team Play(3v3), which Ill be damned is a hell of a lot more fun than I thought it could be. The only thing 3v3 is missing is stat tracking & records...no idea why that didnt make it in.
I really don't understand how campus legend/race to the heisman/whatever they call it now can be so fun, and superstar mode is such trash.
Yup I know. I tend to only buy Madden every other year...but I don't recall it ever being that easy on it's defaults. Was just sad Will get around to playing on All-Pro tonight...see if that works better.
So I'm assuming it's impossible to get pancake blocks unless you sim games? I'm deep into my first franchise season and Jake Long & Vernon Carey have a combined 0 pancake blocks. Sweet!
That's always been an irritating problem to me. Also, I've still yet to see an assisted tackle show up in the stats sheet for me in games i've played. A bit mind boggling...
Turn Pat White into a WR. His overall is low, but he's acceleration allows him to be awesome in the open field. Had over 180yds receiving & 2 scores againt the Cowboys. He's probably insane as the Wildcat if you turn him into a RB. Wish he and the team would be open to a position switch in real life.....
They haven't fixed the stat bug in Franchise mode. 5 minute sim quarters after week 1 and my top tackler Starks has 4 tackles. Rest of the league? 15 average per team highest tackler.
Turned it up to 8 so far (yah I know I suck at Madden ;p) and the Bills game came in at 45-15...so I'm slowly getting to where it needs to be. Bumping it to 9's for the next game. Wonder if there is a way to share vids from Madden to the PC. Had this awesome wildcat run with Ricky that should have been a 2 yard loss but he broke 5 tackles in the backfield on his way to a 40+ yard score.
How do you break tackles? You pressing Right.Stick up or X I can't seem to beat anyone one on one in the open field. Trying strafes, stiff arms, and the truck. Guess it is timing that will come with practice.
I have to say this is the worst madden ever. The game play sucks. I don't like the joystick paddles controlling your directions after like twenty years using the keypad. I'll have to fiddle with the controls when I get a chance but so far...epic fail. Someone tell me they dint ruin the ea nhl series the same way!
