Torn labrum in his hip, out for the season. Bad news for a d line that's already average at the end spots

Ty Warren out for the year. Nick Kaczur likely out for the year. Logan Mankins a likely holdout until Week 10.

We should be very thankful that our injuries happen to people like Phil Merling, A.J. Edds, Kory Sheets and Evan Oglesby. Will Allen will be back by the first game of the year. All the other guys just take a day off here and there.

That's a big loss for them...not as bad as it would be losing a guy like Wilfork, but Warren does the dirty work and clogs the run almost as well as Wilfork. If Mankins also stays out that is another big piece out, and their O-line is already thin.

On second thought, I think we should keep 8 DL instead of 7.

I think that arguably Warren was the most important guy on that defense. That injury just made Spikes' and Mayo's job much more difficult. Their defense looked much more physical in their first preseason game than it did last year. I would expect them to take a step back in that department now.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wildcat is featured against NE again this year.
