Just picked up my copy and had two quick games. First impression isn't too bad (probably coz I dont play as much as you guys) but dont seem able to stop the run this time? In two games so far I think i've given up more than in 3 years worth of Franchise play on 2010
Make sure your ripping off some solid runs before you try play action. Running once for 4 yards, throwing twice and then trying to run a play action will not work. I've only gotten nailed twice on the fake but looking back both of those were bad play calls. One on the goal line with a long developing play action wasn't wise lol. Try play action after you rip off a couple solid runs in a row and use one that the play calls for your QB to roll out. That will usually buy you time unless an OLB or corner blitz is on.
opened up my copy last night played 2 games. quick game vs the Jills. Won 17-0. Ronnie broke off a 82yrd TD run out of the Wildcat. Started franchise and beat TB in Pre-season 21-14. Smith had an INT TD and the following KO, Dansby recovered a fumble and returned it for TD. Not bad so far
Too.Many.Fumbles. When playing online be sure to use the sidelines and R1 in the open field to cover up the ball.
To.many.injuries To.many.long passes To.hard.to.get.kickoff.past.20 Don't like the non speed burst to because I over run a lot on defense and on offense I out run my blockers. I thought that was part of the skill to be good at madden, knowing when to press speed burst
I'm thinking of doing that for the very same reason. I also agree that there are too many long passes and very tough to stop the run.
Is this for online? i get my kicks in the endzone or inside the 10 for the speed burst i thought i saw a Tip where you can turn it on/off?
Yeah I'd like to second this. I was about halfway through the regular season and I had Jared Odrick go out, then Quentin Moses his backup, I also lost Cam Wake for half the season, and Polite just went down likely for the season (unless I make it the AFC Championship game). Because of Polite going down and having no backup FB I had to end up cutting Pat White just to add another FB. Craziness I tell you. Oh and in other news...I still suck at defense, I swear this game has a catch up feature (I have a way of either losing or recovering from bad deficits...I came back on the Bengals after being down 21-0), and the HB draw makes Ronnie a beast.
I don't like playing franchise really, and I'll tell you why. I have this uber competition with my buddy. It's been years in the making, and we have a "belt" that the winner carries around. Anyways, I don't want to trade for Vernon Davis (was this close) or anyone else cuz then when I go play online against my buddy, I have slow Fasano again. So I did start a franchise just for practice but I don't change my team. I'll either do that or keep playing against Dallas or SD since those are his teams.
Just got it today. Won my first online game 14-0, the guy quit. Started a regular franchise as Miami, havent played a game yet. Started my preseason game but its on pause.
At first, I was Carolina, and simmed up to 2016, just to see some players develop. Then I chose Tampa Bay, but quit. Wasn't really feeling it. Now, I'm playing with Miami, but I need to know what's the best quarter length and time run off options to put before I start my season. I'd like to make it realistic and end the game with around 60 plays. Any ideas?
Hmm, just the opposite for me, returning kicks are too easy this year. I seem to break off a huge return every game. Hell just finished up an online draft franchise, Had 16 return TD's with Darren Sproles on all madden. It's all about the technique. I usually run one way then cut back to the outside, usually do a spin move and I'm gone.
You either need to change Sparanos Coaching scheme to a 4-3 base or select a team defensive playbook that is a predominately a 4-3 team. Like Philly, Tampa, Giants, Etc....
NFL 2k5 is significantly better in terms of game play and presentation.... still. At first the game play seemed nice, but after playing the game longer it gets horrible fast. I'm tired of seeing Shon Greene break 2-3 tackles on every run. I'm also tired of seeing 90+ rated CB's drop easy interceptions, only to see a 60+ rated MLB leap up higher than Michael Jordan's ever jumped in his playing career and pick off passes over the middle with ease. EA sucks and really needs to lose the license. There's a reason why nobody buys NBA Live/Elite anymore. 2k is just better at making realistic sports games.
2K "IN THE HELMET" mode is still the greatest never duplicated.....wish it was brought into Madden world for sure. Even coming out of the tunnel pregame was a cool feeling.
chris berman did the highlights after the game too. i'll never forget how many times i head "aj 'touchy' feely." i also loved doing the customizable td celebrations. the deon sanders, and the cabbage patch, were two of my favorites.
The thing that infuriates me the most about playing on a high difficulty in madden is the computer doesnt actually play any smarter, it just boosts the stats of the players while reducing the stats of your own.Their runningbacks dont follow holes better, they oline is just impenertrable and the running back will break any and all tackles.
in a short answer yes. strategy was more football related than cheeser oriented. also no pass fest on offense, and blitz fest on defense. the action felt real and not like a string of animations. character models where bigger and looked more real. players moved faster, and weren't glued to animations that would run them out of bounds. a lot less cutscenes that slowed the action down. the ai seemed smarter. there were post games interviews where the players would speak in cliches. during the week, you had to conduct practices, but i skipped those. the presentation was actually called "sportscenter" and was anchored by chris berman. no rocket catches . . . other non football stuff, you could rip your own stadium music into the game. for me, it was trick daddy playing during kickoffs. you had a "crib" where you could store stuff like trophies, unlockables like dolphins posters or whatever, or play "profiles" of celebrities like steve-o (off the top of my head). td celebrations were also unlockable, as well as some dumb things like bobble heads and air hockey. also there were historic moments and players. elway's drive against the broncos, etc. the only reason i played madden again (after the 04 one with vick on the cover) was because of the nfl exclusivity.
If you asked me that question a year ago I'd say no. But when the new season kicks off, I'll make my first ever attempt to get into hockey.
This. The difference between All Pro & All Madden is: Passing: All Pro - Easy. Very difficult to make mistakes passing the football. All Madden - CPU will make more interceptions. User receivers will drop 3-5 balls per game. Rushing: All Pro - Way too easy. I have to TRY NOT TO average less than 6-7 yards per carry. All Madden - CPU will break 3-5 tackles per run. User will be met two yards shy of the LOS by at least two defenders. Defense: All Pro - As long as my offense is clicking (which it almost always is on All Pro), it's impossible for my defense to ever give up a game. All Madden - I don't see a huge difference here. This one they actually got about right. It just gets a bit more challenging, and CPU receivers don't average a dropped pass every possession. And then you have fumbles.... on All Madden you'll break the record in week one, and break your own record the rest of the season. I enjoy the game mostly with a custom rating set at 14 for everything, although I still purposely don't try my best so that I'll lose enough games to make things interesting. Yawn. I remember back in NFL 2k5 - there would just be those Sundays where Peyton Manning would come out on fire and literally kick my *** in the most realistic way(s) possible.
I actually traded Ronnie Brown (89) for C.J. Spiller (77) just to make things more difficult.... not much of a difference. Ronnie is more consistent, whereas with Spiller I find myself picking up short yardage much more often, but it all adds back up when he breaks his annual one huge rush per game, or more.
Same. I'm not going to follow the NBA religiously anymore like I used to. So, I'm looking forward to hockey.
You hit the nail on head. EA to this day hasn't been able to make a better game than 2K5. I pray everyday that EA loses it's exclusive license. No competition equals EA putting out the same ****ty game every year.
Anyone have any recommendation for difficulty setting? HD hit the nail on the head, the difference between All-Pro and All-Madden is ridiculous.
Try 14 all across the board. Might want to go 13 for user & cpu rushing. I play 8 minutes (20 second run off). Games seem a lot shorter than previous Maddens, and I get realistic stats aside from of course.... 0 pancake blocks and my leading tackler usually gets around 4-5, 7-8 at the most and rarely. Common yearly Madden stat problems that will probably never be fixed.
I only play football, basketball, and soccer sports games. Football: Madden is all there is to offer in terms of authentic, but when they last stacked up (Madden 05 vs. NFL 2k5), 2k blew Madden out of the water and it wasn't close. In fact, tons of people still play 2k5 over Madden 11. Graphics is all that stop me from doing so. Basketball: Haven't enjoyed Live since Tim Hardaway was on the cover. I think that was Live 96. 2k is king here. Not close at all. Soccer: Don't believe 2k has a soccer game, but Fifa is the best and a yearly by for me over Pro Evolution. This is the one franchise EA seems to get right consistently. They need to have the Fifa team study up football and basketball for a few years and pay them triple the salary to produce all three games. Ian Cummings & co. can eff off.
