Well, some one get a shovel, Pat White looks done in Miami. Interesting that Sparano will keep the Center job open for another week.
Earlier in the day Omar dropped a mention about Vernon Carey's back. I didn't know he was fighting a back injury but it would explain why he graded lowest of the five starters against the Bucs, and why I saw more issues in limited viewing of the Jags game.
If it came down to Grant or Baker or Dotson, that would be a tough choice to make, personally I'd go with Grant simply because he fills the nickel rush role the best for a role that will not see that many snaps during the year. Now development needed, unlike Baker or Dotson.
Well, that poses an interesting problem as J Jerry is a natural RT, but who would take his place as the RG..Don Thomas? Incognito and Thomas or Randy Thomas slides over to LG? Murtha has looked better than Gardner, but neither has really stood out at Tackle.
huh huh..... He said dong. WTF? Are we trading Berger or Grove to another team's *****? Hope Grove doesn't find it hard when he gets there.
if pat white was gunna see ZERO playing time in any preseason game.....game 3 would be it. starters will play alot....the most out of any PS game....pat will be lucky to dress.
Jesus, what does that tell you when Pat White isnt good enough to play with scrubs? Good luck in the Minors buddy.
I thought the same thing as well. I think Dobbins is a better fit for the 3-4, he gets down hill much quicker. evidence by his 2 tackles for loss. I couldnt judge him much in coverage, anyone know how he is in coverage as compared to Crowder?
Crowder had a TFL against the Bucs. And he also had that one play where he chased down Josh Freeman for only a 1 yard gain on 3rd & 4...that was real impressive to me. This is what I've said all along: Tim Dobbins is good. I love the guy. I talked about him before free agency started. When they traded for him on draft day I celebrated. I immediately put together a video to show what this guy is all about and why I liked him. But the fact of the matter is right now Crowder is the better all around player, ESPECIALLY the way he's had the handcuffs taken off him now that Karlos Dansby is playing with him. This is a good problem to have. This isn't like having Akin Ayodele, Channing Crowder and Reggie Torbor. But Tim Dobbins just does not have a good feel for coverage. He's got the speed, which counts for a lot, but not a good feel.
I agree I think Crowder is going to be better with Karlos, but I still question whether he is that downhill player that the 3-4 keys on. Crowder is great in pursuit. So whens hes free he can be a above average player. I figured Crowder was better then Dobbins in coverage, thats why I asked. I think its likely Dobbins will take some playing time away from Crowder this year, specially on running plays.(not saying a ton of time, but some)
I again believe this Pat White thing is about giving the young WR's a fair opportunity to make the team. Going against scrub DB's with a former starting QB throwing to them will really show if they have 'it' or not. If they can't do it with Thigpen throwing to them against 3rd string DB's then they never had 'it' to begin with.
I can hope that Dobbins is better in coverage. We seem to forget how bad Crowder was isolated with a TE or RB and was pure toast in coverage. Dansby should make Crowder look better playing next to him but will it correct CC in space? Would like to see Dobbins do something because of his knack to be around the ball. He has TO,play making abilities,I think.
