I'll be very surprised if a trade happens.

What else is left? Jackson won't sign the tender unless Smith literally puts a gun to his head and Smith has too big an ego to do a 180 and sign him to a longterm deal.

Same here, there is a very slim chance that a trade happens.

I will say Brian Hartline has not been impressive in the preseason, for all of the chatter about Marshall's drops, Hartline has dropped his share as well.

I can see VJ sitting out and then showing up week 10 or whatever is for his eligibility requirements (or possibly just sitting out the year).... At least that's what he and McNeill said they were going to do from the start.

I always thought AJ was horrible at dealing with players; at least he understood what he had in McNeill.

I don't think Smith has a problem leaving Jackson in roster limbo.

And let's not leave out the possibility that this standoff comes from Spanos, not Smith.

Serious question: how many drops has he had this preseason? One last weekend, one or two the first game?

    3 or 4 isn't it?

In what amounts to one half of football.

The one attractive thing about VJax is he adds that deep down the field dimension that we currently lack, so he does make some sense, but I seriously doubt any trade happens.

I guess I'm a little surprised that some are quick to sell Hartline down the river due to a couple of drops in the preseason. In rain, limited action, and when our star #1 was dropping them as well. Heck Bess even had a drought last year - It happens. :)

    We'll be fine

Having him opposite Marshall would be scary, but I don't like him as an individual, not a high caliber person that fits the character of this team IMHO. And no way we give up higher than a 3rd rounder for him. Just not happening.

Not at all, Hatrtline would be bumped down to the #4 Wr and would handle kicks and punts, and provide excellent depth at Wr.

Hartline could even play in the Slot.

No way this happens. too much $ and this guys isnt what i would call a good character for the team. either way if it did happen I would be really happy bc I made a bet in June in Vegas that the Dolphins were going to make it to the superbowl, and the odds were 8/1. But I just hope they dont give up bess or a 1st rnd pick

I wasn't comparing hartline to jackson, lol.... was just saying in general, many people have soured on hartline based on limited action in two preseason games.

I was not really comparing hartline to anyone, just saying in general :)

Vincent Jackson, hell yeah!!!! Would love to see him with the Phins. I've been watching him since he played for Widefield High here in Colorado Springs. I know he has had some off the field stuff but hopefully he will grow up. I think Brandon Marshall has seen the light and so will VJ.

I think so, too. You have to admit that VJ is a really good WR. That means we'd have two! The problem is the money right now. He and THE BEAST would be pretty expensive.

1st you post this BS rumor on FH, now here... Not happening people, can't afford him. And if anyone thinks we're trading a 1st for him and will go into the draft missing 2 of our top 3 picks, you're fooling yourselves. We can do much better in Free Agency giving money to fill actual needs on this team than giving up a high pick and overpaying another WR to make us worse, not better as we completely **** ourselves by having no cap room.

Not that I believe this will happen, but if it did we would have to have the best WR tandem in the NFL, right?

Better than Ochocinco and Owens, IMO anyway. Yes/no??

"The Dolphins already added a huge playmaker in wide out Brandon Marshall this past offseason, could they possibly add another one?

Dan McLellan, the CBSSports.com RapidReporter for the Chargers, tweeted earlier today the following about the Dolphins possible interest in unhappy Charger WR Vincent Jackson.

Rumors out of Miami – Dolphins have interest in Vincent Jackson. Will A.J. Smith bite?

What a blockbuster that would be if the Dolphins could make some moves to land Jackson to team up with Marshall. Right now Brian Hartline is on the depth chart opposite Marshall, but he only had 31 grabs for 506 yards and three TD’s last season.

Compare that to Jackson’s 68 catches for 1167 yards and 9 TD’s, and you could have the best 1-2 punch in the AFC in pass catchers if the Dolphins can get a deal done.

Now the big question – could they pull a deal for Jackson off?"

And one other thing, they won't trade for a problem unless someone inside the Dolphins Organization will vouch for them, sorta like Brooklyn Bingo:

"Yeah I know him, he's alright"

The only person from SD we have is Dobbins and I don't think he would have enough juice to be able to put in a good word for VJax.

    Nolan did for Marshall.

This is an article from earlier in the offseason, but if anyone has question about what Miami thinks of Jackson this should solve it. Give them our 3rd and we got a deal. Marshall went for a 2nd and Holmes for a 5th, this is a player that will be suspended a 3rd and I am good.

    I thought Brandon went for (2) 2nds.

Regardless. If we could get him for (2) 3rds, I'd do it...... and this is the BIGGEST reason why: Jackson is an effective means to counter and neutralize what NY and NE are trying to accomplish at cornerback. Plus it's difficult to make it to the SB if you can't win your division. If we can get Brandon OR Vincent (or both) isolated in 1 on 1, then I'd like to see the Jets attempt to blitz us all game long!! It's takes away from Ryan's ability to dictate games when he's faced with 2 large, dominant WR's.

It would be a successful "chess move" so to speak. To give yourself a better chance at winning, it's wise to counter/neutralize your opposition's attack.... or else they will eventually exploit you.

After all, we've seen this affect many times before. What kind of value was placed on left tackles after LT changed the game? Teams need to adapt. Even Dansby was a "neutralizer" acquisition.

I don't have a problem with the trade compensation. My concern is whether he's worth the contract he seeks when he'll be in an offense that uses so much double TE. Maybe that will change in a year if Brown leaves, but if they plan to continue to be a run based offense than having two WRs at huge contracts might not be the best allocation of resources.
