If they have faith in Pat and like his progress, then yes I keep him and trade Tyler...... even if it means keeping 4 QB's and doing so during season. In your opinion, how hard would it be to acquire a veteran to play as equally (if not more) consistent than Tyler in our type of offense "if needed"? Personally, I'd rather have our future backup (once Penny retires) be more similar to Henne and our style of offense, which is why keeping Tyler isn't a priority to me.

well they would have to cut 2 qb's to bring in another.lienhart would be one but i just can't see them cutting skelton or hall considering they drafted skelton this yr and signed hall as a rookie udfa(i may be wrong about where they picked up hall).would be a waste of a pick/contract to not even try and groom either of them for atleast a yr+next yr's preseaon before giving the boot to one.hall would be the more obvious cut i imagine.cut lienhart and hall to bring in thigpen?nah they would need a starting caliber back-up and thiggy is definately not..us send penny over thigpen i find hard to fathom as well.we do that and henne goes down then we are in big,big trouble.

There are some things that seem like good ideas at the time...:D

Pat's problem is even a Qb like Seneca Wallace has shown more raw talent than he has, so how does White create value for the Dolphins, and where would we be with him next yr?

depends on how things play out this yr.if ronnie doesn't play a full season again this yr i expect the fo to move on and white would be in his third yr of wildpat experience.yea i know he seems a little small to be running up the middle but the plays won't be designed for him to do so.ronnie takes it between the tackles because he is better built for it then trying to get outside and turn the corner.same as pat being better suited for rollouts and more option style to the outside corner.

I could've made the throws that White made last night. His performance was hardly an indicator of anything at all.

Well he had 6 preseason completions in 2009. So, 4 last night are nice, but not enough.

Glad he was completing passes last night, I root for the kid, I like him as an athlete, but he has to do it in the regular season.....as its all too familiar that he tossed an O-fer in regular season following those 6 preseason completions last year.

just wondering if last night gives him the chance to complete his first NFL pass in Dolphins Uniform during a regular season game. If that happens I will cheer and clap for him.

The reason he has not made many appearances is because he has been unimpressive in practices and as we know Sparano puts a lot of emphasis in how players practice.

Having said that White has talents that are usually not practiced .He is great at ad libbing as the plays develop.Thats the natural athlete in him.White was the leading NCAA gound gainer as a QB in NCAA history.

A lot of those yards were as a result of ad-libbing as situations develop.

It could be this regime recognizes that ability and they want to try him in situational game conditions. In other words put him in situations where those talents could be best employed.

I hope we dont get rid of White, he showed that he can make plays last year remember the new england game? Two plays he was in one was a huge gain the next a Ricky TD. Im partly biased bc im a WV student, but he has so much more special talents in him potentially then what Thigpen has as a 3rd stringer, we know what Thigpen can do. Keep White because its a high risk high reward type player

It's an indicator that, contrary to popular belief, if there were a barn door out there he would've hit it..... and that's progress.

I am rooting for the kid, but that Barn Door needs to be hit in the regular season.....he has already proven he could hit in in preseason last year and this year.....but the regular season is a whole different size door apparently.

but I am rooting for him...

I just don't understand the logic of keeping Thigpen unless we really like his potential. Do we really expect to win the Superbowl if Henne, and then Pennington get hurt? The season's lost at that point regardless of if Thigpen or White is playing. Unless the concern is if Henne and Pennington get hurt for just a few games each at the same time, which seems highly unlikely.

If Henne and Penny both go down due to injury (God forbid), Thigpen still gives us a chance to compete. Pat White? Man, I just don't know. Just replay the Pitt game at the end of last season and you'll see what I mean.

I believe that Pat White can be a valuable asset to our O in a Pat Cat. IF he can help us win a game or two, he will have been worth keeping.

I also believe that he is the best return man on the team. IF we can have him return some kicks, he may well help us win a game or two. This would not be a position change but, his helping the team on special teams. Hell, Thiesman did it.

IMO, this would add more value to this team, this year, than Thigpen, and we get a pick or player we could not get for White.

Here's another twist. I have to think we would like to expand the Wild Cat. Thigpen can run and throw, although not the fit that White is.

Does anyone know if Thigpen has been given a look at a "Wild Thig?"

I think this was part of the test -- backups have to be ready to play, and aren't generally told in advance when this happens. The coach created a situation where White didn't expect to play, then was suddenly tossed into the game -- just like would actually happen during the season.

You can decide for yourself how he did when he was in there, but I think the surprise was intentionally part of the exercise.

That's the whole idea though, who cares at that point? Thigpen will not get us a Superbowl in my opinion, so that's not a valid reason to keep him if you like White's potential more.

Dude completes for freaking passes and it's like he beat the world??

If they trade Thigpen, it will be as bad as drafting Pat White in the second round!

I care at that point. I want the best players at all positions. And, I want to win every time we play. If we're playing with a third string QB, I still want to win. And, I believe Thigpen gives us a better chance of winning than Pat White does.

Well, at least Thigpen was able to move the offense and score some points, which is more than can be said about PW. Hey, look...he's a youngster too, just like Pat White. And, as such he needs PT to get better. I just think he's got more to offer right now.

    JMHO.

Dude does not complete five passes, and cannot hit the broad side of a barn. Is turnabout not fair play?

No one, at least not me, is saying he is anywhere near great. Just asking for a chance for the guy.

How could you not agree, in the best interest of our team?

Sparano didnt say that White wasnt going to play.....Sparano said the #4 QB was not going to play......big difference. We have no idea who the #4 QB was for that game...

Anyone notice that the media have had no comment on White, after saying he was almost guaranteed gone? No questions to Sparano, no opinions, nothing.

Thigpen did nothing to embarrass himself against the Jags or Bucs...I don't think that Thiggy is the '4th' QB....that's just semantics and coachspeak...
