If I were a Fish fan, I wouldn't be so quick to annoint Henne as a franchise QB. A lot of people were saying the same things about Trent Edwards after HIS second year, which was at least on par with Henne's year, maybe better. I don't think some of the Fish fans realize how terribly the Bills organization was coached last year, so they shouldn't judge us based on that. We fired our offensive coordinator 10 days before the season started and replaced him with a guy that was nowhere near qualified to take that job. Then we decided to use the no-huddle, putting Edwards behind a line that only had one guy that had ever played his position before in the NFL, and he was new...that was the Center. The LT and both Guards had never played a down of NFL football, and our RT went on IR after the 2nd game. We had about 13 starters on the line throughout the year with about 8 configurations. 21 guys on IR. Edwards was set up to fail, and they only changed it when Jauron tried to save his job by switching schemes and QBs. Didn't work...he was fired. The playcalling was horrendous and predictable, and players on our own team have talked about how the Bills never made adjustments during a game hardly. If something didn't work, they'd just keep doing it. Opponents have told our players "we knew exactly what you were going to do." That will change under Chan Gailey. Gailey disguises looks and plays to a player's strength. He makes adjustments to couter-act what the other team is doing. You can't underestimate that. IMO, stopping the run was as big of a problem as any. I can't see switching to the 3-4 doing anything but improving it...the run and the pass rush. Our 2nd and 3rd round picks tried to address that as well as picking up Dwan Edwards and Andra Davis. Most of our OLBs are converted DEs, since our exsisting DEs were smallish, so that's a question mark, which doesn't equal failure beforehand. Don't count out Kyle Williams at NT, either. Our secondary is set, and we have great depth there. It's not like we are going to be playing the 3-4 on every down, either. We have some intruiging prospects at WR, including guys like David Nelson that you've never heard of. Roscoe Parrish was never given a fair shot at WR, really. He was very rarely on the field, so don't judge him by his stats. He's a unique plalyer that should do well in the slot. Our running backs are very good and could line up anywhere. Spiller will make the line better...the line. Believe it or not, the interior line is pretty good...it's the Tackles and depth that worry me. Bell has the raw talent to be a very good LT, but he hasn't had too much experience. He could surprise this year. I guess "surprise" to some people would mean that he plays average, but I think he has a high ceiling if given time to develop. He didn't even play football at all until like his second or third year of college. At this point, I wouldn't put Henne or Sanchez too far above Edwards, especially considering what Edwards has been given to work with compared to the other two, specifically coaching and the line. BTW, I like it when you guys site an article or editorial that agrees with you as proof that you are right. Truth is that nobody really knows. If they did, they'd clean up in Vegas. As far as the opener goes, I wouldn't take it for granted the Dolphins will win. Tough crowd in Buffalo on opening day, and you guys won't really know how to gameplan against us too well. Jeez, the Dolphins pick up two free-agents and everyone start to suckle their knob.
Edwards is good? They are talking about Matty L in a trade. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/01/schefter-fires-back-at-bills/ Yeah, they must be real high on Edwards to discuss Matty L
and he's not that much better than Edwards to begin with. I know who David Nelson is, he played for UF.
There are those of us (most here on this board) who are more than willing to debate the issues honestly and fairly but when you make such a remark as (Jeez, the Dolphins pick up two free-agents and everyone start to suckle their knob) it really is hard to take you seriously, you know. I personally have alot of respect for Gailey and wish him well as well as I'm looking forward to seeing us battle you guys to find out just how good we are, you just might want to look at it the same. See ya on the field!
CJ is a game changer..... a rare breed..... a special player who has the ability to will himself into a higher gear for the sake of the team. HOWEVER, I know first hand that he can NOT pull a rabbit out of his hat every week (not even close). Maybe a few times a season. As good as he is, he still needs a surrounding cast (even more so in the NFL than college). If you guys try to make him pull too many "rabbits" early on, you're just gonna end up injuring the kid (but the Bills fans would end up blaming it on CJ). Speaking of Homers...... only a TRUE Bills homer would argue against Brandon Marshall being a top 3-5 NFL WR b/c he's now a member of the Phins. If he were still a Bronco, you wouldn't be slandering the guy. Calling him a wacko is only showing your ignorance and utter lack of player knowledge. And throwing Boldin ahead of Marshall is even more ignorant (a guy who's been a glorified #2 taking full advantage of the opportunities that Fitz has provided him). When you take into account his size, strength, consistent YAC, ability to break big plays, AND BLOCKING, there are few receivers in NFL history who can stack up against him. Don't take my word for it....... let's just revisit this conversation in another 5 years and see where you stand then (if you've relinquished your homerism that is).
You realize that the Fish are the Florida Marlins, right? Every time you out of towners refer to the Dolphins as the Fish, we just laugh at you.
I realize that Hardy sucks. My point is that you have no targets in the passing game. No passing targets means teams will stack the box against you. That means less effectiveness from your running game.
Well, good luck Bills game planning for us. I have no idea what we are doing on O. The cuts today completely changed what we all thought our scheme on O is.
Yeah, not that the Bills would try such a silly thing (as it was reported) with that stacked QB position.
Who said I did it b/c it makes me "feel better"? I only said it b/c it's accurate. Youre grabbing at straws with Marshall. And since you apparently work for the Broncos organization and know the inside truth about everything, can you keep us updated on Tebow's career as it transpires? You can trash him all you want, but you're input carries zero weight. All that matters is that Brandon is a team player in MIAMI; he takes care of his fans; he gives 110% on the field; and he gives back to society. He does ALL these things here AND he's HAPPY here. I can't wait to watch Marshall continually tear up the Bills while Miami fans cheer him on. And by "tear up", I also mean the selfless things like planting your DBs on their butts so his Dolphin teammates can take it to the house. Ask San Diego fans who the top 3 WR's in the NFL are. They'll have little problem telling you how much of a 1 man wrecking machine he is!!
There are those of us to prefer to live in reality, but when you make comments like "see you on the field," it's hard to pretend like you aren't delusional. I won't see you on the field.
I've lived in Southwest Florida for about 8 years. Just spent 3 days in Miami over Labor Day Weekend. There is an old saying called "Squish the Fish." Perhaps you've heard about it. It does not refer to the Florida Marlins. Also, the Dolphins have not won a game IN Buffalo since 2004. How funny is that?
You betcha. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say. I thought you wanted to nitpick each other. I write a thousand word or so essay on my team, and you slap my hand over one remark? I obviously came here to talk about football. How do you think guys talk?
Get a clue buddy. Understanding Marshall and what he went through in Denver has NOTHING to do with being a Fins fan. We roast our players all the time when we feel they deserve it, moron. I'm not sure if being a Bills fan inherently makes you guys mentally slow, but in the real world, if a player DOES IN FACT leave their emotionally troublesome baggage behind them while starting NEW in Miami with NOTHING BUT POSITIVES, then what happened in their past doesn't mean S#!T. The PRESENT and FUTURE is ALL that matters. I'll be left wanting more all right!!! Wanting more of seeing Brandon continue to mop the field with you guys. Like a drug. Don't forget to pay attention to his downfield blocking that'll be allowing our guys extra YAC. Also don't forget the single coverage on Hartline or Bess that we'll exploit thanks to you doubling Marshall. By the way...... how's it feel picking up our left over or cut trash? You guys are desperate!! Ahhhhhhhh..... Buffalo, the place where hopes & dreams come to die! So are you guys already looking forward to which franchise QB's career you'll be destroying with the #1 overall pick?
So if you want to talk about football, then let's talk about football. You think that we're clamoring for joy just b/c we grabbed 2 extremely high profile players at our weakest positions?.... If we had them last season we'd have beaten the Saints and Colts. However, no, that's not the only reason. Unlike some teams, MOST of our players (b/c of their youth and talent) are improving, and this overall improvement makes us a better team even w/o Marshall or Dansby. Our young guys are getting stronger while things are starting to slow down a bit for them. They don't have to do as much thinking. ALL of our Dline across the board is improved (Soliai is finally becoming a seriously dominant inside presence like his size would indicate. Stark's flexibility will cause all sorts of problems for offenses. Langford is coming into his own and sees double teams. Odrick is an instant upgrade over Merling and is the best 3-4DE in the draft. McDaniels would start for half the 3-4 defenses in the league). I know all of this is a tough concept to fathom. Our LBers are better across the board (as is our LB depth). Wake will be one of the most feared pass rushers in the league. Dansby is an enormous upgrade and nullifies last season's biggest defensive weakness. Crowder and Dobbins are immediately better by having Dansby next to them (and our destructive Dline in front of them). Misi should be an uprade at OLB over the aging Taylor or Porter. Vontae Davis is emerging as a star. In our new scheme, ex #1 pick Jason Allen will be an improvement over Sean Smith's play of last season. Bell is a stud at SS..... and Clemons is an instant improvement over Gebril Wilson. None of this is taking into account the addition of MIKE NOLAN. On offense, Henne IS a franchise QB and has improved a good deal in the offseason. We have QB depth if he gets injured. Marshall changes EVERYTHING about our offense, both directly and indirectly. Because of the extra attention Brandon sees, his presence automatically makes Henne, the other WRs, our TEs, and the ground game better. We'll have more YAC plays, TDs, and 3rd down conversions b/c of Brandon and his blocking. Hartline is a young talented receiver and, as such, should be improving (and Bess too). Ronnie is back and at 100%. Cobbs is back. Our line should be the same or better, especially as John Jerry becomes seasoned. By the way, we are MUCH better than the 11-5 Miami team that won the division 2 years ago. How long has it been since Buffalo won it?
Miami is not in Southwest Florida. The Gulf Coast of Florida is generally Bucs territory. I'm aware of the saying. The point is, it's wrong. Every time you say it, you refer to the Florida Marlins whether you like it or not.
It does refer to the Marlins, i mean obviously Dolphins are mammals, therefore cannot be considered fish one woulld assume. Its like saying The fins are going to kill the cockerspaniels, errr the Bills because since both cockroaches and Buffalos live on land one would assume they are the same..oh and it sounds cool too right....
On the other hand, You will actually stick around and make excuses when you lose. Maybe you can pick up yet another player from us tomorrow to start for you that was not fit to sweep the floors here.
It's as if the Bills fans don;t know that their Over/under in vegas is 5 friggin games. They are a likely 4-12 team and they are here talking all types of smack.
When was the last time the Bills put up 40 on anyone? No reply for the whitner "guarantee"? Get used to seeing #34 and #23 running behind #38 until you are sick of the sight of them...
You know what's gonna be dead? The silence @ all Miami area bars @ around 1:45 ish this Sunday. Cheers.
You would get some credibility if you came here without a poor agenda. You obviously have poor taste in music. You have to be scarred from living in Buffalo. You route for the Bills. You could talk about why you thinks the Bills will win. You could discuss what you think about the positional battles in the game. You could just spew crap too.
I don't need credit sucka... Id rather spew crap & cash out Sunday. for the sake of convo... Why we'll win? we're the better team and ya boy Henne won't be able to deal with the controlled chaos which is our Defense. As far as positional battles.. your team can't field enough players on D to stop the offensive weapons we possess. Don't let the past form ya present opinion of the Bills for we are the future of the AFC. It all starts Sunday.
In October of 1959, President Eisenhower used his presidential powers to enforce, what could be considered a breach of anti-trust laws. With football's emergence in popularity, Eisenhower used this time of expansion to serve a national purpose. Through sport, he forced a team to be placed in Buffalo. He mandated that the small city, with extremely high depression and suicide rates, all from the sheer pain of having to reside within this hell on earth, needed a distraction from the pains of simply living. Ralph Wilson Jr. an extremely wise symbiant alien that resided in a human male's stomach, who resided in hellacious Buffalo, NY...was given control of the football team. Spoiler 50 years later, Wilson, also known as Quato, betrayed his people and decided to move Buffalo's only pathetic reason to live...to America's frozen baby sister to the north. Now...with Eisenhower's efforts to advert a national catastrophe finally failed...so will go the lives of thousands of preposterously sad and depressed Buffaloons. Perhaps, the few delusional ones can survive the torment. Their delusion is reportedly so spectacular...that they do in fact believe, they have a chance to win this very Sunday.
So you guys are just a bunch of a-holes, is that it? You have no call to judge me like that. Bills fans are 10 times more hardcore than Dolphins fans. I've seen it from both sides. "I" won't win or lose, the Bills will. That's no reflection on me as a person. I don't have to ask you about what you are insinuating about my character, but what you just said says more about you than it does me. I didn't come here to talk smack and never have, yet continue to be attacked by mere virtue of being a fan of a different team. Have a good day.
You are one amazing individual. Don't know how you do it, but you seem to know how I'm feeling at all times and how I would react in different situations. Really amazing. Good job...and all from a few written words. You should go on tour. If I let guys like you get under my skin on a message board, how pathetic would that make me?
