I was very high on both of these players and they sure look like they are both going to be stars.
I was hoping spiller would fall to us but buffalo grabbed him at 9.I am going up to buffalo and very concerned this guy is going to ruin my trip.

As for thomas he looks like a playmaker.Did you see the hit on harvin over the weekend not to mention the pick six.We should have taken this guy and kept taylor for 1 more year.
I have not seen anything special from either odrick or misi to make me think otherwise.

It can't even be hindsight is 20/20 because they were both taken way before us IIRC.

There is no use in thinking what could've been when it was it never was.

You do realize that it is only pre season week 3 for all these rookies right? Way to early to even think about who will turn out better than who. Give it some time.

Shoulda woulda coulda's will happen every draft.

Patrick Willis was taken 2 spots after Ted Ginn Jr

Odrick and Misi both seem like decent picks and remember it was a 2 for 1 deal.

No doubt but quantity is not always better than quality. So far not impressed with odrick, misi and lets not forget clemons.
Missing out on a guy like willis is the reason we have been one of the worst teams in the past decade.
I just hope these guys pan out to be more than just average players. With the exception of jake long how many stars have we drafted?

Actually I like a lot of what I've seen from Odrick.

A rookie who wins the starting DE in your 3-4 and slides to tackle with your #1 group on passing downs?

All things being equal, you take the guys up front over the ones on the back end.

I am very happy with that trade and Odrick & Misi look like they have just as much promise as Earl, Spiller wasn't even there when we WOULD have drafted had we not made that very good trade. Woulda coulda shoulda, doesn't build football teams.

HAve to mention since Crowder looks like he may not be health for the Bills, getting Dobbins in that trade trumps Earl any day.

More of the "grass is always greener on the other side because I saw someone make a play on SportsCenter" nonsense.

Odrick plays the unglamorous position of DE in a 3-4. Misi is a OLB making the conversion from a DE. Chances are neither of them are going to offer the immediate gratification highlight that a Spiller or Thomas might.

Don't get me wrong. I liked both Spiller and Thomas quite a bit. But a few nice highlights neither show you what they might have done wrong on other plays nor does it give you any indication on what Odrick and Misi's upside may be.

I thought Earl Thomas was a 10 yr player and Spiller will have the career life expectancy of a firefly.

I like Odie, especially at #28, was not wild about what it meant about Phil Merling.

Earl Thomas would have been my selection as I see a lot of Ed Reed in him. IMO he has a very good chance of becoming a pro bowl fixture. But I can't say that Odrick and Misi were bad picks. I don't think their upside is as high. I think they can become 8-10 year starters, maybe squeeze out a pro bowl or two in there between them, though. It's not what I would have done, but it is what it is.

From what I've read, Earl Thomas hasn't looked all that great in TC or pre season games.

I hope your right but i have seen nothing from clemons that instills me with confidence.Last year our free safety killed us and say what you want about the preseason I have not seen clemons make any plays like thomas has.

I don't know what you've read, but I perused some Seattle forums and articles and they seem to love him. Their D sucks but he's one of the few players that they have no doubts about. Earl Thomas has apparently been progressing from game to game. He's been active and "all over the field". In the third game he had that pick six and another near INT. He's even spawned a Chuck Norris facts type adulation on their boards.

The hit on Harvin wasn't a bone-crushing hit by any means. It was however a pretty nice open field tackle.

And the pick 6 was hardly spectacular. It bounced right off the receiver's hands into Earl Thomas who was incidentally 5 yards away from the play.

With that said, I really wanted Earl Thomas in the draft, but wasn't too upset at all trading down and getting Odrick, Misi, and Dobbins. I just hope Earl Thomas doesn't make us regret that decision.

Yeah but a LOT of people thought that pick was a mistake when it happened...wasn't exactly 20/20 hindsight.

I love Spiller and he we probably give us headaches in week 1. With that being said, I am almost willing to bet that he is injured by week 10. He will be overused by the Bills. He showed at Clemson that he could stay healthy behind James Davis but when he had to carry the load himself, he started getting all sorts of minor injuries that affected his play.

Most actually live in a harness over the ledge. All they have to do is cut the line. It's quicker to fall off that way immediately following every incomplete pass and preseason loss.

Go to any Seahawk forum and read what the fans
think of Earl Thomas...nothing but POSITIVE feedback
as for his play you must be reading The Bleacher Report

He has been getting better and better as training camp

Seems completely different from what I've read. But I guess the Seahawks report seems more valid considering they are the actual fans watching their players play.

That was a pretty big hit. In fact, those were the exact words used by the announcers. And it was a big enough hit that it separated Harvin from the ball.

That was the exact kind of play that the Dolphins have been beaten by this preseason, where the receiver beats the CB to the inside and it's up to the S to get there quick enough to stop the play.

Yup, I see which hit you're talking about. The hit posted in the video above. You are correct it was a big hit.

He also caused a fumble in the same game which wasn't a big hit at all. Just got his helmet on the ball. That's the play I was referring to.

Spiller has had a few impressive runs, but Tim Graham mentions that for every 1 of those, hes getting dropped for like 4-7 yard losses 3-4 times. Homerun threat on every play yes, but he can also really put them in a hole early as well. We just need to play disciplined and take advantage of that ****ty line they have and we should keep Spiller contained OK.

As for Thomas, that hit was jarring. I remember more than a few people wondering about his physicality and size. Well, theres a glimpse of it right there. Add to that the obvious ball hawking/play making skill ...

A bit sad we passed on him at 12, but as long as Oddrick proves to be solid and disruptive, we can call it even.

Spiller, to me, is Reggie Bush 2.0. A little stronger perhaps, but of the same mold. I don't see him as a 20-25 carry per game guy. He'll give them a spark every now and again, but with that O-Line it's gonna be tough for him to become consistent.

I liked Earl Thomas, but Odrick looks solid and as others have mentioned we got Misi and Dobbins out of it, so if those two guys turn out how we think they will it was worth trading down.

I'm another guy who wanted Earl Thomas. However, we did add 3 (including Dobbins) defensive players instead of 1. If Odrick and Misi and Dobbins to a lesser extent, can contribute significantly then it will have been the right move, if not then we can all look back at what might've been. But given the fact that our defense had many problems, I guess going with 3 players two of which could become stars, vs 1 player who is more or less destined to be a star made sense. Maybe we can go safety early next year depending on who is available, I don't know much about next years draft class though so I guess we'll wait and see.

Dudes! We got three immediate starters and Carrol, Edds and Jones as potential future starters. This draft was nothing but solid.

Oh yeah, and Dobbins...1/2 of Marshall
