Wake needs every bit of work he can get against Jake Long if he's going to break this slump.

i'm with CK ... and advocated such an alignment a while ago -- with IKE as the SOLB and Misi as WOLB ... but most inferred that Misi was not suited for WOLB ... just let Wake come in on passing downs on the strong side --- just like he did last year .....

sure i'd 'like' Wake to be on the field more ... but if he can be a lights out pass rusher -- i'm good with just that from him.

All this stuff coming in about how Sparano has seen Misi play a lot of strong side and now wants him to play weak side...writing was there already. Just gotta read it.

this is what i was thinking too when i read this article. i think on one hand they are just experimenting a little to see what kind of flexibility they have with their linebacker packages and two I have not see anything as of yet that make me think that Wake is going to be the impact player they were hoping for. If he isnt going to produce sacks in bunches, then I think you have to explore the possibility of playing bigger, better rounded linebackers in his place. Maybe Wake will go back to being a 3rd down rush specialist. its all theory now but i dont think its a bad idea to explore it a bit

I think it's just scheming for different alignments... I don't think anyone is taking anyone's starting spot. With all the movement and blitzing I think they just want to see what certain players can do in certain alignments. Creating packages.

Anderson playing in the middle, Misi on both sides, Ike in the big package. Soliai with Starks... Sounds good to me!

It's probably a good idea in case Wake gets blasted against the run. I don't want it being like Porter where teams could just run at him all day.

I think we all should keep in mind that this dude did not play football until his sophmore year in COLLEGE, all basketball backround, and to be the 57 th player drafted 3 years later is quite remarkable to me, and totally indicative of his physical and raw talent..I love starting out projects with rare size for the position, who have raw talent....This is a win win situation...

I think this is more a preparation for the reality of how they plan and have planned to use the unit during the regular season than it is a knee-jerk reaction to containment issues vs. the Falcons. A three-man rotation isn't a bad gig, especially when they offer different things.

In terms of the target of any sort of discontent, I'd imagine it's Misi as much as it is Wake. Wake hasn't put up the pass rush they've wanted I'm sure, but most of the rushing containment issues have been towards Misi vs. the starters. At least vs. TB and ATL, it appears most all of the 5+ yard rushes were to the right.

I would be careful with info from news reporters as they are frequently out-of-sync with when the team is evaluating players and game planning. There are a number of possibilities of when and why the Dolphins are modifying formations and I think Disgustipate is on the right track.
With Charlie Anderson providing position flexibility with ILBs, I assume the Dolphins have settled on 7 core LBs and may use extra rosters spots to carry injured players or one from another position that shows greater future potential.

In addition to game planning for the Bills game with Misi as WLB, I think this line-up for the Dallas game may assist the staff with determining what DEs to keep. IAK and Misi are effective at standing up blockers, which could increase the opportunities that for gap shooting Douglas, Grant, and Dotson to make plays.

When Ikaika pulls the trigger he has an impressive burst Deej, not a Wake burst, but a Rothian or better one.

His improvement from the Jags to Falcons game was clear he seemed to "get it" much faster..in one week, with a newb shortening that learning curve is huge.

3 Dlinemen converting to OLB, if they can drop back into zones Nolan has to be thinking about adding Zone blitzes to his play calling.

how many plays has wake been called upon to rush the passer, though? last year his production-per-play was higher because as ck stated, he was a rotational pass rusher. this preseason i've seen him drop into coverage and just play LB quite a bit more. is it possible the coaches are just feeling him out as a full-time LB, see what he can do and how he adjusts?

it's clear this experiment isn't panning out how they'd hoped. i'd like to think that wake still has that pass-rush ability, he just hasn't been called up to use it as often - or perhaps he has lost a bit of that explosiveness by playing so many snaps.

so we've proven what we already knew; that wake is a one-trick pony? maybe that explains why misi was being explored on the other side; run misi & iaf together at the same time?
