No matter how good we do, the Jets will always be better than us. Don't expect us to even win the Division as long as the Super Bowl caliber Jets led by all-pro quarterback Mark Sancheese are still alive and kickin' :tongue2:

I think that NY Times article said it best...

All we need to do is win one game, 16 times.

Tell that to Gruden, who won a Super Bowl in his first year at Tampa. Caldwell made it to the Super Bowl in his first year. Talk about generalities, but Chan Gailey is about 10 times better than Jauron.

...and sparano took us from 1-15 to 11-5, but that doesn't mean the statistics are in your favor (even if gailey is 10x better than jauron.)

oh, and caldwell didn't do squat except for not screw up what dungy, polian, & peyton built. you know that, right?

He also took you from 11-5 to 7-9. You know that, right?

Yeah, I know that. Although, you can't really screw things up that much if made it to the Super Bowl and could have had the perfect season had the starters started the last two games. to me, Caldwell is just there, if you know what I mean.

I'm concerned & posted five solid reasons that raise concern on a thread
that w/ labeled negative by a number of people on our forum.
Well, evidently the coach shares my concern too!
Maybe he'll be able to fix things using game-four to get it right,
a near desperate move, but necessary if we are to compete in September.

While I would tend to agree, Captain Neckbeard has looked pretty damn sharp this preseason without Marshall. Granted it's only preseason.

Yes, and we also lost our probowl QB & RB midway through the season... but this has nothing to do with the point Dupree was talking about that you apparently did not agree with.

I w/ abbreviating this way w/ you w/ still in diapers, Friend Killerphins...
how about we go after the message, not the messenger?

my message after game three w/ simple, we have reasons to be concerned.
I see 5 things that could potentially deny us that "Quick Start" in September.

    they are:

    1) the Offensive Line w/ our strongest unit & has become a work in progress. they set the pace & attitude of the game, as go the big guys up front, so goes the season. Ironically, I see them as our number one concern as we prepare to enter the regular season. they have played like the Flipper-Five, nothing Orca about this bunch so far...
    2) Henne has to step up, make the right decisions & lead the team. w/o a Franchise QB we will not go to the SuperBowl. In the first serious dress rehearsal, the IceMan went 10 for 22 for a 123 yards & an interception. this is not good.

    3) the Defensive Backfield is inexperienced & already struggling in preseason. Smith &, more importantly, Clemons are not ready to start the season. the secondary remains our Achilles heel. what to do?

    4) Special Teams is being rebuilt in year three? How's that going to work? Special teams is the quiet, uncelebrated third rail of football. got to win two of the three to win: offense, defense, special teams.

    5) what I'm seeing overall in the preseason that concerns most is a lack of aggressive & consistent play. the team looks disorganized and/or disinterested. we lack the intensity, brutality, the tenacity that has become, up until now, engrained into the spirit & character of the new Miami Dolphins.

undeniably, Coach Sparano also has concerns
grave enough to compel him into game 4 w/ starters "as long as it takes", he might even share
one or two of my concerns...not entirely unreasonable

I'm hoping Sparano is on to the fix & will get it right by the opener.
look for the offensive line to be defined & play an inspired & brutal game
the Orca is the most important of my five concerns going into game one
& if fixed will go far to remedy the other problems, w/ exception of ST's

Of the concerns you've listed, I think the pass rush, Henning's playcalling and Sparano's game management are relatively minor concerns. The rest are legitimate concerns to me as well.

Look for an 8-8 record, at worst. More probably 9-7 - 10-6 range.

    Friend MonstBlitz:
the positive is that if Sparano did not think he could fix things by game one by playing the starters "as long as necessary" he wouldn't go into the game that way. he may very well find what he's looking for...coming away from game four w/ the fix.
    not to worry too much

i think we are better than last year.
our young corners should be better
anything we put at safety should be better than gibril wilson.
taylor and porter are gone, but we brought in a lot of guys to audition
i think henne will be better
marshall is one of the reasons henne should be better. marshall may not have as good individual stats as before. like some one else pointed out, his blocking and attention he draws contribute even when he doesnt get the ball and the individual stats.
dansby should be better then ayodelle
nolan should be better then our old DC.

hopefully in january all these "should be's" will be " is's"

Rational. We lost Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. On the other hand, those two weren't exactly leading the league in sacks.

Irrational. Vontae Davis and Yeremiah Bell are are both studs. No team has four Pro-Bowl caliber players back there. We have two. On the other hand, Sean Smith has looked suspect at times, we still don't know how serious Will Allen's injury is, Benny Sapp did not have a full training camp with us, and both of our free safeties are relative newbies.

Irrational. Henne has a gun, a new #1 receiver, and he has been mentored by one of the smartest QBs in football in Chad Pennington. On the other hand, if Henne is so great then why did we draft Phillip Merling ahead of him?

Irrational. Henning has forgot more football than we will ever know. On the other hand, he is old enough for senility to be setting in.

Irrational. Marshall is one of the best wideouts in the game. Best trade the Dolphins have made since Paul Warfield. On the other hand, there's no telling what he will do if we start losing.

Irrational. One of Sparano's strengths is learning from his mistakes. On the other hand, I've heard he is playing our starters in the fourth preseason game exposing to them to unnecessary potential injury.

Rational. The Bills always beat us when they have no business doing so. On the other hand, they really really suck.

Thought about it more. Forget reassurance. Just watch the game. Being confident or worried isn't going to change the outcome on the field.

    Are you sure?
Perhaps you should take an aspirin,
    Or maybe see a doctor?
    They specialize,
    In that sort of thing.
    Surely they will,
Be able to set you straight.
Never have they let me down,
    Or touched me inappropriately.
While I was conscious at least.
And if they can't help you,
